Felt sorry for Liam moore not winning the young player award :(

But Matty deserved it more?

Posted

Yeah but because liam is a local lad and is seen as more of a young player than James. Just think Moore should have won that one. But agree with all the others

I think Nigel tried to touch on this but James gets seen, by pretty much everyone, as an established player and don't even consider his age. And that is a massive compliment to him - James has been just that good this season and his all-round play has brought him the award that it so truly deserved.

Where you are from is nothing to do with it, Jamess was the best young player over the season and fully deserved his award.

Anyone remember who won the awards last season and season before?

Morgan POTY

Knockaert YPOTY

Knockaert backheel v Huddersfield Goal of the Season

Schmeichel POTY

Marshall v Chelsea Goal of the Season

Not sure after that

EDIT: ah yes, Marshall was young player as well

It was a great piece of entertainment - nobody took themselves really serious, they were pretty much all enjoying themselves by letting the alcohol and the emotions overtake.

We certainly have a great, all-encompassing and positive air and attitude at the club right now. Long may it continue.

Just got home after an amazing night at the award ceremony and beyond, so many surreal things...

PS - Turns out that Knocky and Terry Robinson live a few doors down from me (although not together in the same house).

Interesting that Pearson said him and Drinkwater don't get on. And that Drinkwater has different goals to the rest of the team.

Other than that - looked a right laugh!

He didn't necessarily say that, I don't think, He just said their relationship was different and Danny was a complex character (not the first time he said the latter).

I think it alludes to something else he said - Danny is the worst person for realising there other people that can play in his position (something along the lines of that, may not be word for word). But sometimes that's a good thing because it makes him a better player which in turn alludes to his 'different goals'.

Maybe I'm reading too much in to it lol.

Listening back to the forum from last night NP says that some players are higher maintenance than others (not that this should spark rumours before anyone goes off on that tangent) and maybe Danny is one of them and that's what he's alluding to. Not that he's a diva or anything but people are different and require different skills to manage them.

Matt James has become indispensable though. I like Liam Moore as well, he also has a had a good season, but he hasn't played regular in recent months. Surely that shows?
