The disappointment of today...

This should have been one of the best days in the clubs history. Top had bought everyone free beer, we all got flags, the weather beautiful.

But that turned out to be such a disappointment.

It didn't help that Doncaster got relegated. That certainly dampened the mood, along with one their fans potentially collapsing.

But there were a few things, mainly down the the fans, which spoilt it.

Firstly getting abused by my own supporters after the attendance was announced - "where were you when we were sh*t". I was in the block next to L1, have been to 12 games this year as I am at uni. I went to lots of games in League 1 too. So don't abuse your own supporters when you have no idea.

Then at the end. I have never been more embarrassed. The morons running around like they were 10 years old. They looked like absolute idiots. They ruined it for everyone else.

The players and manager screaming for the fans to go away. They have worked so hard, yet some could not let them enjoy their moment. I just don't understand why it was necessary at all. Get over it, it's a pitch.

Finally, the atmosphere when the trophy was paraded was so flat. There needed some music or something, it just felt really false and put on. Burnley and Bolton away were so natural, this just felt forced.

so I've ended the day quite sad, when I should be buzzing

If you take football chants personally perhaps you shouldn't go to games at all.

The pitch invasions spoiled it. I went on the pitch, but after the players had gone and the club were sort of allowing it at the point. I think they would have allowed people on the pitch anyway but not in the instance in which the first two happened. I thought the presentation was going to be ruined by idiots, and then I felt for the players and their families (in particular young children) when they were still walking around. The players, the management and the trophy was quickly gone.

I thought 'Rockin All Over The World' should have been near to when the players picked the trophy up as well. It was too quiet!

Why do you care then?

It's hardly scathing abuse is it, they didn't refer to you specifically and it's not something you need to be offended about anyway.  Get over it.

As for players, frankly, I think they've had their moment all season. It's them who have the high life, get worshipped every week, get paid loads, celebrate on the pitch every week, get clapped every week, lift the trophy, score goals, I could go on.....

So I'm not quite sure what's to feel sorry for them about. The fans deserve their moment too, and I don't think anything got 'ruined' that was really worth anything. Bare in mind these were fans that couldn't really see the trophy being lifted. They've also paid a lot of money and have been through all the tough times, so I'm not sure it's fair to slate them because they wanted something a bit more than a sterile lap of 'honour' and a load of other boring stuff.

I was most upset about the Doncaster situation and the predicament of their fan. After that I wasn't bothered about anything else.

Agree with that, I thought they were going to play something just as we lifted the trophy. There was a lot of waiting around with nothing happening, that's when I left.

Going to be honest.

I thought this was a thread about the possible death of a donacaster fan and how it put a damper on things.

But nope it's petty stuff which doesn't really matter.

Please get a grip, if this doesn't put those things into context, im not sure what will.

Couple of thoughts on this:

Were 31,000 all pointing at one person

As for where were you when we were crap.

1. Living In the sporting void of Gloucestershire as a young boy and i attended about 10 home games with my uncle who would drive down from Woodhouse eaaves to take me to the games, Mclintock was manager, don't think we won a game can't remember us scoring a goal.

2. David Pleat as manager still coming up on my own now on my Vespa or my Fiat 600D. Both had more power than our forward line at the time.

Don't like Status Quo or Queen either but not the end of the world. Believe a few people collapsed now that can spoil the day.

Nothing embarrassing about our fans at all frankie. Been going down 30 years plus and never seen so many do gooders as around these days. You wanna sit in your seat and be quiet. , fine, no problem, but let us get on with enjoying our day. I have nothing further to add! Up the city

Didn't really see the fascination of getting on the pitch but each to there own. Perhaps could of waited until the small children and pregnant women were off the pitch. Atmosphere was pretty good during game but thought was lacklustre during trophy celebration. Sam bailey was awful

Just hope the Donny fan is ok.
