St Ledger leaving: Who is actually bothered?

I can't help but think that some of the injuries were perhaps his own fault

Maybe he thought shandies were medicinal, or something....

He was average, I'm surprised anyone dare criticise the moderaters on here? After getting banned for putting, "hoo har", in a thread I gave up the will to live. Mark you are a Cvnt

In my opinion you get out of any situation what you put in, and others did the hard yards and took their chances whilst St Ledger seemed happier to play the fun guy party boy type.

He has some ability, albeit industrious in it's nature but is no Premier League defender with his current attitude for me. I'd imagine a championship club with some ambition might be tempted enough to take him on.

The stick out moment in my memory was his handing the ball to Maynard (I think) on the halfway line with no one behind him and costing as a goal in what was a rotten defeat to Brizzle City.

Good championship player. When fit read the game will , not that quick though. .

If he was not so injury prone he would have been a good squad player

Strange how no teams have come in for him ... ?????

Very average player who passes through the club without having made any mark or lasting impression other than being symbolic of the Sven era.

St Ledger's problem was always that he believed himself to be a better player than he was. In his eyes he was a ball-playing centre half but in reality he wasn't far from a simple mistake in possession. I always thought that if he stuck to focusing on his defending he would be a much better player for it.

Zing! All this 'he's a good lad' is seemingly forgetting when he spent most of his injury lay off messing about in Miami, Dublin, London and various nightclubs.

Not bothered one bit. Too injury prone and he's obviously happy just sitting around the club picking up his wage packet without actually doing anything useful for this football club. If he gets himself injury free and match fit then no doubt he will be playing Championship football next year. Good luck to him.

Pretty sure SSL would have had some sort of clause in his contract that made him unattractive to be picked due to Financial Fair Play.

Mills, Danns, Beckford and Gallagher were all high cost signings with large wages.

I hear he certainly wasn't a disruptive player, so maybe there would have been a large fee payable to him upon so many appearances? Or his appearance money per game was excessive.

I picked up Julian Joachims contracts off eBay and appearance fees can be quite a considerable part of the deal.

It was obvious Nigel wanted him gone, but I can't help believe it was for financial reasons rather for his actual football ability.

My most vivid memory of him during his time here is spending most of an international match against Spain on his arse. I think every goal they scored could have been put down to him.

He is, was, and always will be a very average player. Not bad but not that great either. As far as return on investment goes, alongside the rumoured 1.5million transfer fee and his supposedly high wages I would say only Darren Eadie has been worse value for money and I'd include Akinbiyi in that. Though maybe Matt Mills runs him close.

Still good luck to him at another club and hope he can stay injury free but we are going to need much better quality.

Decent player but, was disappointing for us. I can see him going to Wolves for someone reason. I know he had a bit of a attitude and Pearson placed him onto the transfer list, then was taken off.

I felt honestly bad for St. Ledger when I saw him trot behind the "core crew" during the trophy celebrations following Saturday's game.

I don't think he'll stay with us and join another Championship club instead. Wolves are a good shout, actually. He needs playing time and I hope he can get his career back on track soon enough.

Never understood the bitterness by some people towards him. Decent International footballer did well for us the few games hes had. Good luck to him wherever he ends up

Always good to get rid of highly paid players who contribute next to nothing, whether it's their fault or not. I don't know what he's like as a person, but I think he's overrated as a player.

Now we just need to get Gallagher out. Can't believe how long his contract is. Ridiculous!

A defender I wanted us to sign for years before he arrived. SSL is a solid defender and there is nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately his injuries harmed his chances of being a regular in the team. If fit he would have played over 100 games for us I reckon.

Best of luck Sean!

Him, Danns and Beckford clearly believe they are a lot better than they actually are. That attitude is one of many reasons the Sven era failed.

He is one of the last lingering farts of that period and I for one am glad the cocky little shit is off

For every good performance there was 2 or 3 howlers, wish him well with his next club but delighted to get him off the wage bill
