Fox Ulike Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 No you clearly said "if he was fit he'd be our first choice striker" No, as Andreas iniesta has good ball control and skill, and he's not fat and slow as shit either. If he was French and had long hair to go with his already slightly questionable apperance I doubt even his own mother would love him. Ha! Nice mis-use of "quotation marks" there. You're panicking. What I actually said was if GTF "was fitter, he’d probably be our first choice striker". Probably probably probably. Great word. Yes, if GTF was fitter he'd probably be pushing Nugent for his role as our supporting striker. As you say he's good with his back to goal, can hold the ball up well - and so he could probably be a good foil for Vardy.
Fox Ulike Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Have people just completely decided to ignore the very substantiated rumour that the club had to offer GTF a contract given that it was an open extension both ways if he played in twenty games or more this season? Those of you saying you wouldn't have offered him one, well you would, because you had no choice. Yeah but Pearson has probably consciously allowed GTF to get to 20 games. If he hadn't wanted him for next season, I'm sure he would have stopped playing him when he hit 19 games.

He's nowhere near Nugents level, (no probably about it ) end of chat.
whetstonefox Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Just let Pearson get on with it, he's not done a bad little job so far!
Guest MattP Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Yeah but Pearson has probably consciously allowed GTF to get to 20 games. If he hadn't wanted him for next season, I'm sure he would have stopped playing him when he hit 19 games. Or maybe he thought GTF would continue to be anasset seeing out games for us and decided to carry on making the same decisions he had all season. I wouldn't be thinking I'm bringing on Wood instead of him just because I don't want him to have a new deal. You realise if Nigel actually wanted to offer him one he could have done anyway.
theessexfox Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Look at the thread when we signed him, people had the same reactions, and yet the reality is the same... he's not been signed to be our first choice striker and start most games and play a key role, he's been signed for invaluable experience and character as well as his superb touch and build up play. Yes he has his limitations but he's contributed to our success this year and who's to say he can't play a role next year? NP thinks he can, he played him enough times to give him a new contract... he certainly isn't a waste of a spot in a 25-man squad.
southfox66 Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 I can kinda see the logic to this, he basically going to sit on the bench, They'll play him for last 20 mins, when its maybe 0 -0, no one on other side will take him seriously, so at set pieces he'll be completely unmarked, he nicks a goal, job done.
Dickov22 Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 Du du du Gary Taylor Fletcher. Good. He's a decent player
Dickov22 Posted 9 May 2014 Posted 9 May 2014 I see people are still doubting Pearson and his staff. Looks like we know better than them. Just like everyone did first game of the season away at Middlesborough. Oh wait........

There isn't a single person on here left posting who doesn't think he's the man for the job. That isn't to say, on occasion, we might not agree with absolutely everything he does, it's called independent thought, you lads should try it.

I said "doubters in team tactics/signing people" not "people saying he's not the man" and i am very independent in thinking, thanking you very much... Opinions are like arseholes in the end we all have one!

We were promoted 6 games ago which was before GTF would have played enough to earn his extension, yet NP still played him. He wasn't oblivious to the fact that he'd get the extra year like some are suggesting. GTF's done a good job this year called upon and could be a decent option to have in the the Prem. If it turns out he's well out of his depth then I've no doubts that NP will drop him like he has done with Bakayoko, Wellens, Gallagher etc. in the past. Give us another dimension to play - definitely much better than Wood at controlling and holding the ball up.
LeicesterBran Posted 10 May 2014 Posted 10 May 2014 Was surprised when I heard that he was going to sign a extension. But, he is a better player than some idiots are making out he is. He did impress me in the Prem that one season for Blackpool, the reason why he has got a new deal is because, he has some experience in the Premiership.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 15 May 2014 Posted 15 May 2014 His initials stand for the 3 things he gets the most. GTF = Goals, Tits and Fanny
MPH Posted 16 May 2014 Posted 16 May 2014 I thought that this thread title was about his packed lunch box
