What?

If the reality is that I have not the faintest idea what prem quality is, where do you get off preaching who you think is and isn't? It's a discussion board, so discuss without telling me I'm wrong in some ironical, hypocritical non sensical rant.

The only reason you get one liners Col is because I'm not prepared to enter into semantical debate with you as you don't take on board or read the posts of others and post the same constant diatribe in every thread.

Thanks for the patronising encouragement to keep up my attempts to post to your high standards though Col.

Give me strength.

I enter into plenty of debate buddy. Like now, with you.

But I dont always agree with you. Sorry, that's just how it is. I don't resort to sarcastic one liners with you, I don't think? Cos I don't feel myself superior to you. You clearly do to me. Hence the sarcasm.

I have the same feelings about King, He's been loyal, plays with his heart and loves the club. The difference this season is when CM have the ball in the Premiership teams tend to stand off a bit more than in the Championship... And I think King is technically a good (not great) but good footballer. The reason he struggled in the Championship is because he got bullied off the ball and seems he doesn't have sharpness about his play. Ofcourse he won't be penetrating defences like Drinky but I think he could do a decent job.

Again, Its all opinions at the stage regardless of what anyone says. We could go down with a worse points score than Derby... We could finish in the top 10.... No body knows. The core of our squad have never been tested in the Premiership, who knows. As I said before, Southampton did it and went all the way with the team they pulled out of the Championship with.... Why can't we!

All I know is I have 100% faith in Pearson and think he is the right man to drive this club in the right direction. He has the aura of a winner and I trust his judgement.

I've no idea how much King will figure this season either.

But if he does intend to make an impression he needs to have Vardy's attitude to improving which, in King's case, means passing the ball as quickly and accurately as ever but with more purpose and to greater effect while continuing to work on his competitive edge.

He's never going to be a mean machine but he can be stronger and more determined when we lose possession and face the miserable task of tracking runners.

Yes, I was giving an example of such an 'assumption'.. who knows, is the reality.

lol

Well if you were I'm not sure it was needed, he was just giving an opinion. I'm not sure our shitter players might not be good enough is particularly outlandish as far as some opinions on here go really.

And here we are again:

1. You are not in a debate - you told me I made assumptions and didn't have the faintest idea - then did the same thing.

2. I'm not asking you to agree with me but if you don't, do it from somewhere else other than the self appointed fountain of knowledge which you use as a pedestal.

3. You get sarcastic one liners because your post was arrogant, hypocritical and patronising - re-read it.

4. I don't consider myself superior to you, I simply refuse to engage with your ambiguous rants which cover all bases in all threads and then end up with an "I told you so" - it actually makes my blood boil.

Bullsh*t.

90% of the season was spent pissing on the opposition. There were rare occassions where we dropped off but you get that at any team at any level. Look at the big picture and you'll see that we'll be more than comfortable in the Prem.

This isnt me wearing rose tinted glasses or being blind to anything, its just me being realistic with the information and facts put in front of me. The bottom half of the Prem is weak. Watch MOTD and live games every week where these clus are involved and you see awful defending, weak midfields and inconsistent finishing. If we'd have been in the Prem last year we'd have finished mid-table. Now with a couple of experienced prem players added, we'll cope with the uplift some if those teams have made. Although saying that, the strengthening thats been done by teams like Villa havent exactly struck fear into my heart.

I know its really difficult to accept given the lows we've had in recent years but pretty soon everyone is just gonna have to concede that we are a decent side. We wont be challenging for honours and pushing for Europe, but we will be comfortable and we will be a Prem side for many years.

Whether or not you agree, love the positivity

Although i feel we were lucky in some matches last year which may have skewed our high points finish a bit, we have a great "team" mentality that could be the difference between us staying up and getting relegated regardless of whether we get this "prem quality" signing.

Southampton broke their transfer record twice!! Jay Rodriguez signed for £7.5 million, then Gaston Ramirez signed for about £13 million on transfer deadline day. Not to mention they signed, Steven Davis from Rangers who was influential for them that season. Artur Boruc was also signed that summer, as was Nathaniel Clyne and a few others.

Southampton did very well that year but they knew they had to strengthen their spine which they did with a top quality defender, central midfielder and 2 attackers.

I like this post.

There are a lot of decidedly average sides in the PL who all seem to be investing considerably on unproven players from abroad who may or may not be more effective in the PL than our unproven players from the Championship. I think it would be daft to say we shouldn't buy any more players but fleeing from our current strategy of maintaining team spirit and consistency with a blend of experience and youth for the sake of spending some pound notes would make me very uncomfortable.

Pearson had faith in the guys that got beaten against Watford last year and that worked out pretty well, it may show that players that play together for more than 1 season will improve as a team.

Palace uprooted their squad, and if they hadn't changed their manager, imo they would have been relegated.

Cardiff spent £36m on "quality" players last year, but that didn't help them stay up

Hull spent carefully last summer, signing a very good spine to their team which kept them up.

We need a Huddlestone imo, if our only signing of this window is a quality midfielder i'll be happy.

I personally just worry that we aren't upping the likely starting eleven yet. I think having faith in a team to keep it together is a good thing. But they are going to be competing at a significantly higher level this year than they were when that faith was shown in them 12 months ago. Still plenty of time, though. It's probably a debate for the end of August when we know our squad and the squads of our likely fellow strugglers.

We just need to remember how much better we were than the likes of the Hull team that got promoted... 102 points, that's massive. Ric mentioned Saints, I thought they went up with a good team and they got 88 points.

It's quite possible the majority of this team could be good enough. Do we go out and buy expensive players in case they aren't? Or do we stengthen the overall squad, add a little bit of quality (we're after an expensive striker clearly). Without wholesale changes.

It's all guess work, we aren't going to know until a few months into the season at the very least.

I think we need to do a mixture of both.

Albrighton is a class signing for us, he's strengthened our wide midfield options but then we've also lost the pace of Dyer was was going to be nothing more than a squad player. I would hope his direct style of play would be replaced at some point but it's not the most pressing of issues.

Defensively was our weakest area last season, we were appalling at defending set pieces and bringing in Upson will help that issue but my question is whether he'll be a regular. I like parts of our defence but I really think we need a centre half who is a lot better than what we currently have, that will cost us money. I'm unsure on our left back situation but at right back I think De Laet will improve and we have cover in Moore.

Central midfield is where i've the most faith in with Drinkwater and James but after that it worries me massively. Hammond is not up to it, I don't care what anyone says he's merely making up the numbers. I was unimpressed with him last season and he gave away a lot of dangerous free kicks which put us under pressure. Will King come out of his slump at a higher level or has he gone as far as he can? I'd like one more in, whether that's a top drawer midfielder who will expect to start or just a good squad player to compliment what we already have.

I agree with Nigel on recruiting a proven striker, this will cost us significant money and he seems prepared for that even if we are putting offers in which other teams deem derisory so far. I would be sad to see Jamie Vardy not a first choice player next year but if we are going to go with one up top then it's important we get that type of player we currently don't have.

Get that all in the mixer and i'll be happy.

Agree that we need another midfield, hopefully a CDM with a presence in midfield to compliment James and Drinkwater further ahead.

But, in defence of Hammond, I'd much rather give a free kick with bodies behind the ball than letting the likes of Sanchez or Sturridge through.

Hahahahaaa to be honest I bet Schmeichel made more one on one saves last season than any other keeper in the league, that's one of his fortes and defending set pieces we were one of the worst! But your point is valid to an extent, sometimes you need to commit fouls to ease the pressure.

Totally agree. King is fine on the ball, moves it around swiftly and never labours, just needs to improve his off the ball work and strengthen. He could challenge Drinkwater and James with extra work.

So em Nick Powell ?

Weirdly, given we are off topic, it still kind of is about Powell. Or rather, all the players out there like him. It's kind of about do we add players like him, or jump up the ladder a few rungsin our recruitment.

Talk of Nick Powell going back to Wigan.

I did wonder if Pearson might have made a loan bid by now to add some competition for King though I would imagine he'd be guaranteed more regular starting football in the Championship.

Seeing as he can't spell football or Leicester I wouldn't take it too seriously!

Fair one that but there are other sources saying the same this morning, lets see what happens.
