Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Looks like this will be a borefest until lunch then hopefully can kick on after that.
StanSP Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Sorry Stan.. But I don't know which Indian cricketer infuriates me the most? Jardeja, Dhawan, Dhoni and Sharma are all wankers. it's fine. I can understand why some might not like them. (Not sure why Sharma is infuriating though; even if is Rohit or Ishant?) Jadeja and Dhawan just have that 'arrogant' look about them. But obviously for me, I can't get enough of them and they excite me when they play. Geoffrey Boycott was saying the other day (possibly at TB) that Jadeja is a great player 'if he's on your team'. He's got that knack of riling others with his style of play and attitude. The way he came out to bat at TB was exactly the perfect way to rattle England. Surprised you've not mentioned Kohli too because he's often one that can get on opponents' nerves.

No I quite like Kohli! Exceptionally good cricketer in all forms. I was referring to Ishant, such a nob, for someone who isn't as good as he thinks he is then he shouldn't be so arrogant. Dhawan infuriates me more than anyone though, proper bellend.
marko Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Sorry Stan.. But I don't know which Indian cricketer infuriates me the most? Jardeja, Dhawan, Dhoni and Sharma are all wankers. Virat Kohli has got to be up there!

You're probably in the minority of fans who like Kohli but don't like Jadeja & others you mention. Usually they're all grouped in to one bunch .
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Cook looks a different player after that first innings knock.
Grandad. Posted 30 July 2014 Author Posted 30 July 2014 Cook looks a different player after that first innings knock. Yeah, when he comes across and plays through the leg side he is a joy to watch. See someone there in a City shirt.
StanSP Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 England racing along at about 4 an over here. Lead whizzes past 300. Will easily get to 450 lead.
Grandad. Posted 30 July 2014 Author Posted 30 July 2014 We need to get India in to bat after tea. 20 minutes before would be ideal.
marko Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Another stinker for Ballance. Missed by a bus ride again.
Grandad. Posted 30 July 2014 Author Posted 30 July 2014 This umpire seriously needs looking at, he is shocking.
David Guiza Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Not England related, but Jaques Kallis has retired, another great of the game.
leicsmac Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Not England related, but Jaques Kallis has retired, another great of the game. Statistically the best allrounder of all time, in all likelihood.
StanSP Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Erasmus had 2 stinkers here. Fixed (he mistakenly gave Ballance out in first innings too?)
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Fixed (he mistakenly gave Ballance out in first innings too?) Erasmus is like an umpire you find at club cricket level, if you appeal loud and for long enough he is bound to give it. Dreadful.
marko Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Erasmus is like an umpire you find at club cricket level, if you appeal loud and for long enough he is bound to give it. Dreadful. Bring back Simon Taufel.
Captain... Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Reasons not to follow on. The pitch is deteriorating and will be most helpful to the spinners tomorrow. Resting the bowlers, I know they won't be tired at the start of the day, but a few hours batting then come out just before tea for a short spell, then a full session after tea, then still being fairly fresh for tomorrow means we can get the best out of broad and Anderson and not have to rely on others to get wickets, just bowl some short spells tonight. Rather than 3 full sessions in the field and then coming back tomorrow after what would have been over 5 sessions bowling. Making them watch us score runs in the heat and then have to switch to batting mode is harder than sitting in the dressing room so hopefully they won't be focused straight up. Bat them out the game, forcing them to be defensive, not the easiest to switch your style of play, if you enforce the follow on they have a target and a game plan and can actually set a tough little total for the end of the game, this way England are in control of it. They know the batting conditions and back themselves to score quickly and put even more pressure on India. In either scenario we would need to bowl out India in 4 sessions. It is easier to do so bowling at them last on a turning pitch when they are tired after 4 hard days of cricket (ideally with a front line spinner). The only reason to enforce the follow on is if you are already at tea on day 4. We will see if it was the correct decision from Cook.
StanSP Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Right so when are you lot declaring? Lead of 416. When you get to 450? Cook giving himself another opportunity to get a 100 then declare?
Swarles Barkley Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Past 470 for me which should be around 10/15mins after tea Edit: we dont play as fast as this in one dayers never mind tests
Swarles Barkley Posted 30 July 2014 Posted 30 July 2014 Very surprised at that. Still looks a decent pitch and 440 from 130overs is do-able
