I've had this problem with my internet for a month now.

When I click anything the blue bar starts at the bottom right but never completes. It always takes at least 3 clicks to get any page to load.

I've tried Malwarebytes and other spyware with no results.

My anti-virus scan never finds anything anymore (it used to always find a bit of stuff to delete).

I'm starting to get fed up of having to wait so long to do something on internets. This never used to happen.

Anyone got any ideas?

Internet Explorer 8?

Try re-installing / upgrading IE. Does it do it in Firefox?

Think firewire is only for macs. whatt size hd you thinking? My dad recently got this one for photo etc backups

Not necessarily - they are just more common on your mac's!

If you have a firewire port then I would suggest getting a Portable HD which has a firewire port too because the data transfer times are quicker! Although if you are only transferring files every now and then, then its no biggy! Also, you will be paying more for firewire in general!

You can get about 250GB for around £30-£40 now. I would def recommend Western Digital - can't go wrong. Amazon and overclockers always seem to have good deals on!

Mine works fine.

What's the problem?? Does it not load at all?

Or do you not get a video box come up?

I don't get a video box - just the message about checking i have Javascript turned on and the latest version of flashplayer installed (i have both sorted).

If I'm not mistaken, USB 2.0 runs at 480MBit/s - compared to 400MBit/s (FireWire 400) and 800MBit/s (FireWire 800).

(Even though USB is faster on paper, the data transfer speed differences between USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 are effectively minimal - not just by the numbers)

I only use Firefox, don't think I've ever used IE apart from trying to get in Live Chat on here.

Can't believe I haven't thought of trying IE to see if that works better

I'll try re-installing Firefox but if I uninstall will I lose my bookmarks? Last time I uninstalled and re-installed I lost them all.

Drag the hyperlinks that are your bookmarks to another folder and then replace them.

Download the Xmarks Add on. It's genius. Also means you can synch your bookmarks to other PCs, should you ever have the need to.

Youtube doesn't work on my computer, for some reason.

It says I need the latest Flash player (which I have) or Java is turned off. I have no clue whether this is on or not. How do I find out? Cheers.

Which browser are you using?

If Firefox - Go to Tools > Options > Content > Enable Java Script

Any of you techies care to help me?

I put a disk in and it doesn't even spin or try to read it. I go into My Computer and it thinks the DVD Drive is empty when it's not. I go into Device Manager and it says it working properly. I tried the Windows boot disk and it didn't load and apparently all the drivers are up to date so I don't know what to do, I've Googled it and not found anything of help. It's really annoying me now.

I'm using Windows 7 btw and I've had this laptop for less than a month, it's a Dell Inspiron 1545.

Sounds like you might have a loose connection in the back of the CD/DVD drive

But it's a laptop, how am I meant to fix that?

You can't, unless DB11 knows how to, looks like you could be in for a Run in with Dell cust services!
