Matty Fryatt

We have GTF to come on & hold the ball up playing others 'in'.

If GTF had have gone I'd have said Fryatt would be a worthy addition to the squad

Since when has Fryatt done this? For us hr was always the one to run onto a Howard header, don't think i ever saw him hold the ball up.

If hes improved like some of the Hull fans say he has, then i'd take a risk, but if its the same guy we got rid of, then nooooooooooooooo

Sign a contract Nuge, this prospect is genuinly scary.

Really dont understand people who say they dont want the player we got rid of??

When he left, he was still scoring whenever given the chance and putting 100% in to boot. Sven wanted the big names so sold him to Hull.

He's a player that under NP, flourished in League 1, stepped up to Championship level and showed improvement in all areas of his game.

This would be a very good signing.

It really wouldn't, this would be like turning back the clock.

There are better targets out there than Fryatt he is a good player but not one we should even be looking towards.

He sometimes looked really good, then others, a bit disinterested and quite easy to mark. He just didn't put himself about enough. He's always been a good finisher though.

Each time I saw him last season he looked good, definitely improved. I just don't think he's much better, if at all better than Nugent (who incidentally I don't think is good enough for the prem).

I think we need to sign someone absolutely top class to play with Vardy. Not Fryatt.

You can't scrimp on quality where Premiership strikers are concerned. If you don't score goals in any league you get relegated and scoring goals at the highest level needs special skills. I do think Vardy has such skills and am fairly confident he'll adapt but we sure need more firepower than that and I don't see Fryatt providing it.

Always liked Fryatt, intelligent player and a good finisher, if he had a yard or two extra pace then he could probably hold his own in the Prem.

Without that though, he's a good Championship striker and that is all.

Totally agree. Ok championship striker, excellent in league 1 as his record proves.

What he lacks in pace he doesn't make up in ability to make it in the premier league.

Personally, I would feel positive if this move happened. Fryatt is a clever striker and has certainly developed further since he left us. He's not blessed with pace but his movement, finishing and now his improved hold up play would be invaluable to us late on in games or when Vardy is out suspended/injured. My biggest concerns last season came when Vardy was out, we had no replacement for him to play off last defender (Nugent is no good at this, and before I get jumped on, please distinguish the difference between the roles I'm explaining here and the role that Nugent played for most of last season). Fryatt could offer us a different dimension. The only thing from this is that it would leave no space for GTF, I really hope we can shift him on somehow. I have no idea why NP played him last season to make the number of appearances for him to automatically obtain a new contract. Made no sense at all.

Top post.

Couldn't agree more

GTF was picked on the strength of his performances. Mystery solved.

What's a bigger riddle is why so many fans criticise GTF on here without actually saying what's wrong with him apart from he's fat. Nobody ever seems able to come up with footballing reasons why he's so bad. He's skilful, good at hold up play, and strong (OK fat). He got his fair share of goals and assists last season. And in his one starting appearance that I saw (Huddersfield away) he was our best player. His one shortcoming is his lack of pace. But if we ditched every player because of their weaknesses we wouldn't have a player left.

I really think people need to get past the fact that GTF looks like a lorry driver rather than a footballer.

If GTF was French and looked like Knockaert you lot would be loving him.

Re: Fryatt tho. Yeah I can see him as a good squad player. I always felt that he would actually be better in the supporting striker role. Back-up for Nugent rather than for Vardy. GTF will be good for a year but Matty's got around another 4 or 5 years in him. So he might be worth a punt.

Fryatt didn't disgrace himself in the prem. But we need to see where this ambition is from the chairman. Sure fryatt could help us avoid relegation- he helped Hull do that. But do we want to be in a relegation battle?

You've answered your own question.

Pace.

GTF got away with it in the Championship for two reasons. Firstly, he was playing in a very good team. A team that ripped up the division.. full of confidence and belief. Secondly, he was playing against some average players.

I dont care what people say about the Prem. IMO it's miles better. Its quicker, you have less time, the players are stronger, more physically fit.

I concur.. GTF isa clever footballer. But its my feeling that when you pitch up against some of the world's best, he'll look very very average.

I'm happy to be proven wrong.

GTF got 5 in 22 for Blackpool in the Premier League.

Fryatt got 2 in 10 for Hull last season.

There's not a lot to choose between them.

Is there a third option where I can opt to lick up some dog sick?

Agreed but fryatt is in addition to GTF, one or the other but not both.

Indeed.

Neither are good enough to be pushing the current starting two.

When you say "world's best" i presume you're talking about Alex Bruce, George McCartney, and Stoke galactico Andy Wilkinson?

I'm expecting GTF to make between 5 and 10 sub appearences against Palace or WBA where he comes on late and gives the team some help in keeping the ball up front, maybe to protect a point.

I'm not expecting him to nutmeg Kompany and then chip Joe Hart for his hat trick at the Ethiad.

Wow that was really funny.

It wasn't unfunny. He has a point when we're debating the Premiership records of Fryatt or GTF. Bald men and combs spring to mind.

Did he? Only ever played in the fa cup because their main two strikers Long and Jelovic were cup tied. When he wasn't injured warmed their bench not deemed good enough by Hull. Watched him in the fa cup final, strikes me he still hasn't learnt the offside rule? Pray and hope we do not sign him.
