justfoxes Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Is Austin injury prone sees more of the physios bench than the pitch tho??
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Well if you really want to know. From memory, Permanent signings, first window, Samba, sold after six months for what we paid and Remy. Both in a bid to stay in the prem. Next Austin 4m, Philips 5m, Henry 1m, Dunne and Simpson free. No real duds there. Last window no one, same as this so far. I think I've said before, there's NO point in giving us facts on Redknapp's signings since going to QPR. You won't be listened to. I believe, though could be wrong, that he's offloaded more than he's actually signed. The bulk of the squad problem, in terms of stupid wages and attitude was initiated under Mark Hughes. That said, if Redknapp seriously wants to give Ferdinand 100k per week (can anyone confirm this or is it just yet more wild speculation)? then that's crazy.

conLAD logan Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Personally think deeney would be much more worth this sort of money and more realistic
Super hoop Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Who knows regarding Ferdinand, has anyone ever seen a players contract? It seems like there is a stand-off with Fernandes trying to get the price down but 40k per week is what's rumoured here. It looks like times have changed at Rangers as Caulker looks to be going to Palace as they have offered more wages than us after we both triggered the release clause

Helps them to make an argument that we are great and everyone else, aint.
foxfanazer Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Too injury prone and I think he'd be easily marked out of games in the prem

Thracian Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Can't imagine Austin would change our world especially with his injury concerns. From a promising start we've started to seem like little boys lost in the transfer market. Comments about a wage ceiling haven't helped and, for all Pearson's keeping our targets "close to his chest", those we've appeared to be in for seem to have become protracted "nearly deals", suggesting some sort of stumbling bloc whether it be wages, ambition or back-up signings to encourage any potential target to move. . It's all making me think we need someone here with real clout and persuasive power. Pearson's evolving into an excellent manager but his Premiership credibility is limited and I wonder if it might help to involve someone like Peter Schmeichel, someone with countless top line contacts both here and abroad...someone to help sell the level of our ambition. Cos if we can't convince relatively ordinary players like Ulloa and Campbell, it's hard to see how we'd sell ourselves to guys of greater quality. No-one's likely to be flattered being courted by one of the bookies favourites to go down. And the only way to change that perception is to get some clout - both on and off the field. Indeed I'm surprised we haven't made a major signing or two straight away as a means of demonstrating the ambition I mentioned and making additional signings that little bit easier. Of course bookies can be wrong - and i think they will be where Leicester is concerned - but it's still a bad advert to see us so miserably rated and yet the rating is understandable based on our lack of significant progress so far, or any progress at all given the needless loss of Dyer.
dannythefox Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 QPR just signed a striker I'd easy take Austin and he wouldn't cost as much as 7.5 million

Mark Albrighton came in straight the way to replace Dyer as a squad player. Your right with what you say about us looking a bit foolish in trying to get players and deals falling through... Maybe someone big in the backroom would help on the persuasion side of things, but if a player needs to be "persuaded" he doesn't deserve the contract... I want players that want to come here, Ulloa hasn't rejected us... He hasn't had talks with us and by the sounds of it he wants to leave Brighton for us. Campbell has had his head turned by Palace and probably a few other teams have come in for him. From a neutrals perspective Palace 'look' a better option than us. Tony Pulis with bags of experience in the Prem and how the finished the latter half of the season. This season is all about staying up... Forget the 'marquee' signing... Lets hold our position in the Prem and build. People need to stop sweating, Our squad right now is good enough to stay up... We have a solid first team. If James/Drinkwater had a long spell out, we would struggle for a bit but other than that... We are good enough!

I think you're wide of the mark with the two players you've named there. Ulloa has nothing to do with pulling power, Brighton won't let us discuss terms. We discussed terms with Campbell and, rightly, baulked at his ludicrous £40k pw week demands. As for the other players we've missed, I'd speculate they include the likes of Nick Powell and Aaron Cresswell who have both gone to established Premier League sides. Be patient, there's a month to go. In the Championship we were a big fish and could bring in most targets, it's a different kettle up here.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Sky sources have also learned that the Loftus Road club have agreed a fee with Ajax to bring Iceland striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson to the Premier League. Surplus to requirements maybe?
Bryn Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 They've dropped £5m on that guy apparently, lot of money for an unproven striker.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 No we are not ! How are we not? Kasper, De Lat, Moore (Upson), Morgan, Konch Knocky, Drinky, James, Mahrez Nugent, Vardy Thats a good enough 11 to stay up
Thracian Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Almost all players need persuading of certain things when they contemplate a move. And I'm not sure Ulloa would be altogether impressed by the time it's taking Leicester to agree a fee even assuming he's set on coming here. If Pearson sees him as an important cog then we need to sort the deal. If he's just one of several options maybe Ulloa will look to his alternatives as well if negotiations just drag on because he'll be wanting to concentrate on pre-season work too. Yes, it's possible our season might come down to simply "surviving" but we've got to think more positively than that if we're going to be attractive to potential signings. Our new Premiership adventure has started and it would be nice if the book was more than just a single chapter telling of "nearly" moments and limited ambition.

Our new Premiership adventure has started and it would be nice if the book was more than just a single chapter telling of "nearly" moments and limited ambition. I just can't agree with this at all, Ulloa will want to play in the Premier League but Brighton are financially secure and the player is under contract, it has NOTHING to do with pulling power whatsoever. It might be and it might not especially if there are key injuries. And we need to aim higher than just staying up. Football is an unending quest to improve. Last season is history. I do wholeheartedly agree with this though.

Football is an unending quest to improve. Last season is history. I agree, another Striker, LB and a CM would help our chances... But given we have just been promoted we need to walk before we run. If James/Drinky got injured it would cost us. A stronger LB & different type of striker could help But other than that I think we have enough depth in our squad to have a successful season.
Ric Flair Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 They've dropped £5m on that guy apparently, lot of money for an unproven striker. Nowhere near as much as some players have gone for this summer who are equally as unproven.

teblin Posted 14 July 2014 Posted 14 July 2014 Good player, Would be happy with us signing him. Can't see it happening though. Unless he wants out.

Kasper, De Lat, Moore (Upson), Morgan, Konch Knocky, Drinky, James, Mahrez Nugent, Vardy Thats a good enough 11 to stay up It's a decent side but without quality additions it's way too thin. Teams will see what a liability konch is and will target that side and tear us a new one.
