Stadt Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 He'll be on big money there so if we were signing him he'd want even more.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Sounds like old Tone is dealing with the wrong manager if he wants to limit spending accordingly
notnow john Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Didn't he fail the medical at Hull this time last year.
kingfox Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 What a load of crap from the Sun. Austin is just a better version of Nugent, but we don't need a striker like him.
katieakita Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 What a load of crap from the Sun. Austin is just a better version of Nugent, but we don't need a striker like him. Nugent is clearly in the managers plans so why wouldn't you want a better version of that? Cannot see it happening though.
kingfox Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Nugent is clearly in the managers plans so why wouldn't you want a better version of that? Cannot see it happening though. We need a different type of striker. We have the work rate of Nugent, Pace of Vardy now we need a target man physical striker, can't see Austin offering that. Like you say though, probably won't happen, lazy journalism.
Richard Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Burnley supporting mate says he has a real problem with his shoulder, hence the lengthy layout at QPR, would probably fail a medical and Nige wouldn't risk that much money on such a injury prone player
Super hoop Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Errr? Why would we sell Austin? He is the ONLY confirmed striker we've got for our 25. Remy likely to be off and Zamora not signed on yet and will only be an impact sub anyway.

Who knows but then again why would you bring in some of the crap HR has at your place over the last couple of seasons perhaps you could remind us of some the recent signings and wages paid out
katieakita Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 "Last couple of seasons" was a clue. Not a QPR fan so not really bothered what they do. Your reported finances seem to indicate a different approach to transfer fees paid and wages paid than the path Nigel Pearson is taking us on. Think you would be mad to sell Austin but your management set up seem to do the odd unusual thing.
jayfox26 Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Harry 'I'm not in the market to sign anyone' Redknapp and then goes and signs 3 players on deadline day. They have enough old shite at QPR, god knows why they want more. Turning into a retirement home for old has beens. They need to invest heavily to compete next season, in my opinion, our squad is far superior to theirs. Probably why we finished so far ahead of them last season! But going back to Austin, I think its unlikely they'll sell when he's not that old and is their best player!
Super hoop Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Well if you really want to know. From memory, Permanent signings, first window, Samba, sold after six months for what we paid and Remy. Both in a bid to stay in the prem. Next Austin 4m, Philips 5m, Henry 1m, Dunne and Simpson free. No real duds there. Last window no one, same as this so far.
tylesta Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 it is transfer mad harry we are talking about!!! didn't he sign nugent at pompey then try offloading him 14 days later!!

Let's not talk about the wages dished out shall we.

What about all the loans that he took on this season? How much did Kranjcar, Assou-Ekkoto, Doyle, Maiga, Morrisson all cost in wages.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Redknapp linked with Leroy Fer today. Thus far though, they've signed none, I think? We've signed what? Four Trust me Col. I have on good authority from 'Arry himself, that he going to bring some big guns in. OK 'Arry boy, I'll have that pint now.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 13 July 2014 Posted 13 July 2014 Who knows but then again why would you bring in some of the crap HR has at your place over the last couple of seasons perhaps you could remind us of some the recent signings and wages paid out They were good enough to get promotion, and will probably finish higher than us next season, as they have experience of Premiership football, for the most part.

Well they acheived as much as us last season if that's your point. As the QPR fan has pointed out they haven't signed anyone yet so their old boys have experience of being relegated and not good enough for the premiership. Certainly wouldn't change our squad for theirs or the wage bill.
