Corky Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Oh well, Mourinho's still got a way to go to beat Grant and Di Matteo with Chelsea in Europe.
lgfualol Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Hate how Chelsea players are constantly surrounding the ref. A lot of teams do it but I hate Chelsea more than other clubs so I'll pick on them.
BlueSi13 Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Christ, Premier League at an absolute rock bottom. Might sound daft, but are English teams actually up for the Champions League anymore? Looking at the body language of the players in Europe you'd sometimes suspect not.
Guest MattP Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Well done Jose. I'm sure really don't miss David Luiz now. Got a feeling he'll still blame the ref for this with a bit of UEFA and maybe even the racist fans on the train. Henry talks absolute bollocking doesn't he? He hasn't said a single thing worth remembering since he arrived at Sky.
Dan Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Carragher and Neville both spot on. Think people are finally seeing through the usual propaganda. England has all the money but not a lot else.

Guest MattP Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 3 places for the EPL in the CL looking very possible for 16-17 season if we get a French or Italian challenge this year. Chelsea CL and UEFA wins in last 3 years single handidly keeping it at 4 for next season.
Corky Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 All English representation out in last 16? Looks down to Everton. That would be phenomenal. It shows the immense character of Everton and the squad with it's human qualities.
MooseBreath Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 English clubs struggling in Europe but the top foreign talent like Di Maria, Falcao and Schlupp being made to look average in the premier league. It's a funny old game.

BlueSi13 Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Carragher and Neville both spot on. Think people are finally seeing through the usual propaganda. England has all the money but not a lot else. The money and marketing argument is pretty tired though dude, as a product the Premier League is easily the most watchable and entertaining hence the global popularity, but the quality has fallen through the floor completely. It's an absolute embarrassment how its riches are squandered on sky high wages, agents fees and hordes of bang average foreign players. Sir Alan Sugar is right when he says the new TV deal will just result in more money going in one ear and out the other as it always does.
Guest MattP Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 France are actually still a way behind looking at it. Think they'd need to win it. Portugal and Italy are catching us and Germany somehow.
StanSP Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Well that's our last chance of winning it this year gone. Really wanted Chelsea to win but PSG deserved it! why 'our'?
LCFC1996 Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Juventus holding a lead against Dortmund and Napoli, Inter, Torino, Roma & Fiorentina all still in with a chance for the Europa League and guaranteed one team in the next round so their coefficient is going up
C-man Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 Well that's our last chance of winning it this year gone. Really wanted Chelsea to win but PSG deserved it! You keep saying 'our' like Chelsea represent you in some way? Yes I'm being deliberately obtuse bu for the life of me I cannot work out why anyone feels they need to support another English team in Europe simply because they 'are English'... It's bizarre. Do you support Chelsea when they play Swansea? Or Forest when they play Cardiff?

Sir Alan Sugar is right when he says the new TV deal will just result in more money going in one ear and out the other as it always does. Is it though? Clearly I'm not in the majority here because if I wasn't English myself I'd not be particularly arsed about the league. It isn't all bad but it's the biggest under-achiever in the sport for me if you go off actual quality rather than hype. There are good games, there are shit ones, there are sometimes title races, there are sometimes relegation battles. I don't see what the Premier League offers than no other league can, other than the ability to actually hear what the players are shouting because grounds are full of silent tourists. The new TV deal could be turned into a positive for both the league and matchgoing fans but it won't be whilst people continue to fall for the propaganda. It could mean cheaper tickets, more cushion to spend on longer-term projects and so on but realistically all it'll mean is Luke Shaw goes for forty million rather than thirty million. I can't stand the mentality of the league and that's why despite being English I have no desire what so ever to see 'our' sides succeed in Europe, other than Leicester of course. France are actually still a way behind looking at it. Think they'd need to win it. Portugal and Italy are catching us and Germany somehow. No idea how Italy are doing it. Must be the Europa League seeing as they've got 5 of the last 16. Juventus could still go out of this yet. I've always thought France under-achieves. Produces loads of quality players yet always seems to lose them.

No I don't support them when they play Swansea, Forest or Cardiff. I don't support Swansea, Forest or Cardiff either. Do you support PSG when they play Lens ?
StanSP Posted 11 March 2015 Posted 11 March 2015 I know they're the representatives of England but just cos that's the case doesn't mean that everyone else wants English clubs to succeed. I'm glad PSG won tonight. I've never bought in to this 'wanting other English teams to do well' theory in Europe.

'Propaganda' as you keep calling it does not make people around the world buy in to the product week after week year after year you know. It has big problems for sure but taking into the account the ferociously competitive nature of the league from top to bottom, the fast-paced style of play, the packed stadiums, very little crowd trouble, good representation of women, children and minorities in the stands all adds up as a package which makes it what it is. The Bundesliga is the only one that gets close for me but that is ruined by Bayern Munich winning the league pretty much every. single. year.
