It's pure guessing on my part, but I'd imagine this 'press conference' that's supposedly happening would be before training, not after. I find it hard to believe that this close to a season, Pearson would be happy with any of his squad missing training unnecessarily, and if Cambiasso isn't going to be announced until after, then surely he wouldn't be able to participate in the training beforehand, in case something was leaked early...?

Okay, serious head here. I think I may have seen him in the back of a Mercedes, could be completely wrong but it looked just like him.

Stan said last night we had a press conference, he has also just reiterated the above.

There will be a press conference every Thursday or Friday this season (as I think there was last, just this year it will be better publicised/attended).

This. Cambiasso is clearly an upgrade from Dean but, nevertheless, we can't forget what Dean did for us last season and he saved our bacon against Wigan. Like Chris Wood, a loyal servant but not quite good enough in the top flight (yet for Chris...but one day I think so), but if he stays - a good player to have in your squad.

I suspect the possibility of working with Adkins, who he's supposed to have a good relationship with and the possibility of regular football may be a big draw. Cambiasso signing, if indeed he does has got to push him down the pecking order.

Agreed Woollett. I know its an analogy I've used before but working for/with someone in an office environment previously sometimes swings the decision when they come calling again if you are in a specific sector.

One things for sure, our local press and media have been very quiet/coy on this since Nigel went wild on Saturday. Their lack of coverage has unsettled fans because it's gone quiet in the last couple of days. The Mirror have been first to break the developments twice and they seemed to think it was all ready to be agreed on Tuesday night.

I'd like to think we'll at least get an update today, even if Nigel just tells the media there's been no further development it would then suggest he's keeping schtum or it's looking less likely it'll happen. If it doesn't then we need to focus our attentions quickly elsewhere as our squad is painfully thin and we're being left behind.

The pre-match press conferences usually take place around midday, give or take an hour sometimes. 

 

Expect Cambiasso to be 'revealed' later on in the day in a separate announcement.
