midland_red Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 It's a pit of a city. No decent hotels or bars. Very poor restaurants and the shopping dreadful. People in Leicester get excited going to Fosse Park on a Sunday. One of the worst Cities to live in. If location is part of his agenda, then a trip around the City Centre certainly wouldn't make him want to come here. Where would you take him? Personally I would take him somewhere else and tell him it is Leicester. What hotel in Leicester would you book him into? Where would you book him a table? Where would you send him to get clothes? What bars would you tell him to go to? You have to go out into the country to get any sort of quality around here and most Cities have decent countryside around it. You really sell leicester dont you??? You nneed to look around leicester a bit more and with eyes wide open
Babylon Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 All this talk of QPR and Harry... not thinking of anyone in particular, but I wonder if there is someone out there reading this thread absolutely itching to join in. Like I said, nobody in particular in mind at all, just wondered like.
roblcfc84 Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 I'm struggle with this whole location thing. First off parts of Leicestershire are truly stunning. Lots of fans seem to be making an assumption that cambiasso wants to be in the city centre living it up. Conversely he may love to be out in the sticks, chilling out in rural bliss. It comes down to what he wants out of life at 34 - he won't need the money that's for sure. I expect he will make his decision based on football reasons first and foremost ahead of money and location - who will impress him most Harry or Nigel - I know who my money's on. If he's after a project in the making he has found one here. And lastly anyone ever been to boro? I live about 10 miles away and it's rough but boksic, Emerson, ravenelli and juninho all signed for them.
Rob1742 Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 You really sell leicester dont you??? You nneed to look around leicester a bit more and with eyes wide open Have done for years, that's why I have drawn that conclusion. It is a pit. The Marriott Hotel and San Carlos is the best we have to offer. So pretty average places and little all after that. The only good thing about Leicester is that it is central and so it's fairly easy to flee to get to other places that are much better.
Jordan Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 Will his extra wages come in a brown envelope direct from Arry???Surely they would be wired into an offshore bank account named after Cuchu's dog?
65RosesFox Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 Next door to Nugent, where ever that is. I thought he wa nuges next door neighbour in Countesthorpe Have they both bought Iwan and Joachim's old places?

You would probably be happier in Reading or Basingstoke. Luton is a very beautiful palce so I hear, and Hull, Bradford, sheffield, Stoke, Chaventry, Snottinginham are absolutely swinging. Cheap housing too....
jayfox26 Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 An article I've just read says QPR are after Lasana Diarra as well as Cambiasso. Why do they have to be greedy and sign 2 players in the same position? Harry just **** off and sign Diarra and we'll have Cambiasso!

I think the centre is as poor as Leicester, but the countryside is much better. You have the moors close by and there are stunning villages like Osmotherly. Restaurant wise there is an Italian near the football ground with views across the river which is a better location than our best restaurant on Grandby Street, which is virtually a dead zone. They also have Psyche and Triads, which are blokes clothes shops that beats our offering hands down. Hotel wise Boro is as poor a choice as ours, but Gibson has a great hotel near Darlington. Middlesbrough and the area beats Leicester hands down. Both pits of town centres, but around the region there is great places to go at the weekends, whereas we have Bradgate Park. Yarm is a really nice place good bars and the coast (staithes and Whitby) are not far away. We have much better curry houses. You struggle for a good curry up there.

I actually hate QPR atm they are just signing everybody so we can't get a sniff in I think

Diarra used to play for Redknapp I think at Pompey, therefore he will sign him over anyone else.

Cheap housing too.... Full of listed buildings and interesting quarters??? We have destroyed our city by poor planning over the years. Unfortunately I prefer not to compare with other poor Cities, I look at other Cities that have developed their centres well. Look at Liverpool and Manchester. Look at Bristol, Bath and Norwich. Look at what Newcastle has done with their Quayside and town centre. As an example, you could go to somewhere like Newcastle market and have a bite to eat. You go to Leicester market and you feel grubby and just have to get out of the place. They have made the cultural quarter nice, but compare that to what others have and we are way behind. Look at Nottinghams theatre district as an example. What bands come to Leicester - none of any quality because we have no venue.
Rob1742 Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 Middlesbrough beats Leicester I'd imagine Hackney is also miles ahead of us as well? Yes it does, I know both places well and given the reasons. What is your knowledge of Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas?

Yeah, clearly everyone's forgotten that DeMontfort Halls been demolished, and the O2... Bands don't come to leicester because of it's proximity to Birmingham and Nottingham, not because there's no venue. Seriously, Leicester's not the nicest place in the world, but it's far from a shithole, and it's certainly better than middlesborough.
MHC Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 Don't understand this worry about Q.P.R "stealing" Cambiasso from us, if he goes there it's probably for the best as it will be down to financial reasons. If he joins Leicester it will be for footballing reasons, just depends on his character and his intentions, which I suspect aren't money motivated or else Nigel wouldn't have wanted him in the first place. If he was to have a look around our stadium and our training facilities and compare them to Q.P.R's, he would think we were better suited to the Premier League. Nigel would talk to him about Leicester and where he would fit into our squad. Redknapp would say "how's 80 grand a week sound?". I know where I'd rather be if I was a millionaire footballer in my mid 30's who's won everything and in search of a different challenge.
Finnaldo Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 Yes it does, I know both places well and given the reasons. What is your knowledge of Middlesbrough and the surrounding areas? I've checked several guides of England's/Britain's worst towns from papers such as the Guardian and Middlesbrough came up twice on about 5 of them. Leicester, funnily enough, was never listed.

It will happen everyone. Tomorrow or Tuesday I expect news from our shores.

Rob1742 Posted 10 August 2014 Posted 10 August 2014 They go to Birmingham and Nottingham because they have better venues to play, bigger capacities and infrastructure (hotels) to support it. We have had just the Demont for years. For the past 20 years Birningham and Nottingham have created new venues, and on the back of that and other developments new hotels and restaurants have been born. While we have painted an old tower blue, orange and yellow and put a statue of Gandhi on Evington Road. And we all had a little wee when we extended Fosse Park. Don't defend the undefendable. Admit it is a pit and maybe one day things will change for the better. The council got lucky with Richard 111. That could change the City for the better, but that was more luck than judgement.

If he goes to QPR I can't pretend I won't be disappointed, cos I will be massively disappointed. The only thing they can offer better than us (other than the argument of living in London) is money. We have a better ground, better facilities, a far superior youth setup, an honest manager and not a bent, corrupt, twitchy twat! Add this to the fact we were far superior last season and the only thing left is wages. And as you rightly say, if he chooses them for money then hes not right for us anyway!

I have given my reasons why I think Middlesbrough is better. Just wouldn't mind to hear your view.
