Still nobody is telling me about these wonderful places in Leicester that there are that I keep missing

I like the castle conservation area down towards de monfort university.

There are also some other buildings on the de monfort university site that are quite well thought of. (Architecturally)

I like the area around the curve and the highcross.

I like the work on the market food hall and what they are doing by the cathedral.

The space centre and pumping station are nice.

There are some nice areas in Stoney gate and Knighton. (Particularly around st Mary's near the cradock)

Guildhall is nice.

New walk is fairly unique.

I think we have some nice areas, not hugely spectacular but not the pits.

I do think we could do more with the river though, particularly the weir behind the walkers, I've always thought they should open up the view onto the weir and open a cafe/ play park.

(sigh)

start with the newark and castle areas, the Jain centre, magazine gateway, trinity almshouses, Rupert's gateway, the castle, st mary de castrol, the judges lodgings. we can then cross the dreadful underpass (truly dreadful but still part of 2oth century history) to see Wyggeston House, catherdral, guildhall, the Richard III centre, New Street, the monumental and listed bank buildings around Friar Lane, the restored Lanes area, Silver Arcade,(you'll need a pint in the globe by now), the arts and cratfs Fenwick store, New Walk and the most of buildings along it, the Greek-revival former Phoenix Fire Office on Welford Place, The 20th century university buildings, particularly the engineering building in what is a world class university. Back to the town hall itself and chapel opposite it. The Turkey Cafe on Granby Street, the wonderful art deco shoe shop where Granby Street nears the station, the restore building on Charles st where the council is now living, round the cultural quarter Alexandra House and that building which is a replica of a corporate HQ in Philadelphia, the listed St Georges Church, (pint in the real ale pub on the corner of Halford St?) Secular Hall on Humberstone Gate, the Lewis Tower, the place where Thomas Cook was founded – you can see the freize if you look up, The 17th century unitarian chapel on Bond Sst, St Margaret’s Church, even what’s left of Corahs is as monumental an industrial building as you can find in Britain. The listed St Marks Church, remains of Leicester abbey, back along the caanl.

I wrote this in in about 5 mins and I don’t even live there anymore, there’s an awful lot more I didn’t mention,..ok, go on then,,,, Wakerley's planned suburb at North Evington and the 1930s former Wildt Mellor Bromley factory entrance, , the former HSBC on Granby Sreet soon to become a Hari Krishna temple......the pork pie libraries at Southfields and St Barnabas Road, both influenced by Charles Holden's architecture for the Piccadilly Line tube.

Too late for the space centre by now.....You'll be exhausted by all this and you neck will hrt because you've been looking up a lot...I recommend a curry at the Tiffin (corner of London Rd and de montfort st - you can have a quick observe (not look - observe) the listed entrance to the London Road station.

But yeah, but like I said, you'd be happier in Reading or Basingstoke

Anyone who thinks that San Carlo's is Leicesters best restaurant seriously needs to expand their culinary horizons. Its OK. Overpriced but OK. Most of what they sell is not even Italian dishes!

Maiyango, Barcelonetta, and even Shimla Pinks offer some of the citys finest cuisines. OF course, its all about tastes but give me Maiyango over San Carlo's any time.

finally something decent and not more shite to clog up the thread! Cheers :)

I can guarantee he would not by flying into EMA. Call, slate or even belittle all you want but I know for an absolute fact, EMA is not his landing destination if he does come to the UK.

Luton will be his destination.

Take me back to a time when we just found out new players when it was all completed....

Switch your computer off and buy tomorrows mercury.

Assuming private jet, then it would be Luton as the likely place, possibly even on an airliner (a la England) but the unlikely one of the two.

If coming from Argentina you can almost guarantee Heathrow.

Where would he be flying from? Argentina?

No way he'd arrive at EMA.

Birmingham, maybe.

Could of flown into heathrow and hopped on a connecting flight to EMA

I think he's Wizz Airing it into Leeds Bradford and then megabusing down to Leicester, stopping off Thurmaston Asda for a ginsters.

EMA is definitely not out of the question.

It's got plenty of links to Italy, which is surely where he lives?

Indeed.... if he wants come come on a commercial airline that only has economy class.

I love how there is always around 300 watching this thread.

Even though we've had the Col and Middlesbrough shite. Just confirms the fact that he'd be one of the biggest signings the club has ever made.

No such thing unless on private light aircraft. None of which fly from any commercial london airport.
