EGBFitness Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Well you could use that logic for loads of signings. Ulloa for example. Plus how do you know other clubs haven't been in for him? He turned down Sampdoria already becuase he doesn't want to play in Italy. I'm going by clubs that have been linked in the press so far, he's had options in other countries but still no deal signed
EGBFitness Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 We can see it but we also are intelligent enough on here to realise that if you were to treat that point as a problem every time you go to sign a player then it would be very rare that you would be able to ever sign anyone in football. Man Utd are the only team bidding for Angel Di Maria but doesn't mean he's shit Or it might be that every other club isn't stupid enough to bid over £60 mill for him?
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 People are doubting him because everyone isn't trying to sign him... wth. I trust Pearsons judgement. If spurs were interested and could offer him a starting place every week we would have zero chance ..
Jace Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Or it might be that every other club isn't stupid enough to bid over £60 mill for him? Exactly, doesn't mean he's not good enough though
EGBFitness Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Exactly, doesn't mean he's not good enough though I'm not saying his not good enough, you're talking about a player who has been linked with a few top teams this summer but none are willing to pay the money Man Utd are paying (personally think his not worth no where near that amount) Cambiasso is a player heading towards the end of his career and is a free transfer. If he's as good as what people are suggesting then surely he would of been snapped up by someone now?
EGBFitness Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 People are doubting him because everyone isn't trying to sign him... wth. I trust Pearsons judgement. If spurs were interested and could offer him a starting place every week we would have zero chance .. I'm not doubting pearsons judgement, I have a lot of faith in Pearson and believe he is always looking at taking the club to next level. I just think people are getting carried away by the name and that it seems like clubs are not wanting to continue their interest in him, surely there's gotta be a reason for that? How you know spurs didn't offer him that? European clubs have a lot longer season than us, with European ties and the expectancy to go further in the cup so I'm sure he and the club would be aware that he would have a large involvement with the first team especially if he's as good as everyone is suggesting

Ok so you're struggling to understand thats ok I will try a couple more examples see if that helps make it clearer. Muzzy Izzet was not wanted by Chelsea no other team was interested in him either until Martin O Neill signed him for Leicester. Many feel was a good signing for the club despite no other teams showing interest in him including his own. Tony Cottee was on the verge of retirement when we signed him no other other clubs showed interested in signing him apart from Leicester, many felt he was possibly too old to rejoin a team at Premier League level yet turned out to be a successful signing despite his age. These are examples of players that no one wanted to snap up but us, but they still turned out ok. Doesn't mean they are bad, just means that there is only 1 club looking to offer them a new contract.

Izzet was also at the start of his career too, which like all out other players, RDL, Drinkwater, James, Vardy, Mahrez, Knocky and even signings this summer like Barmby etc we have signed pretty unknown players that are young and wanting make a name for themselves, I'm sure some of these players would of been linked to other clubs but not all would of been wanted and have turned out good signings. Cottee was a good signing and I'm not suggesting that we shouldn't be linked with players over 30 and not wanting by clubs. For every good example I'm sure can think of a bad one too, wasn't Whitbread not really wanted by anyone and released by Norwich!? He turned out an impressive signing didn't he! The fact that he would of been aware and other clubs around Europe would of been aware of his contract situation back in January and although he keeps being linked with teams he is still without a club with a few days away from September! He is obviously holding out for a bigger and better offer and doesn't give any impression that he actually wants to play for this club, Pearson is normally pretty dull with the media but even he sounds feed up now of the situation when he explains the on goings
ktfox59 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Well you could use that logic for loads of signings. Ulloa for example. Plus how do you know other clubs haven't been in for him? He turned down Sampdoria already becuase he doesn't want to play in Italy. first answer is a frank. I dont know other clubs business regarding him. I do go back though, and say he and his team only have to go on the net to see where leicester is geographically to London, and where we are football wise. There are so many cosmopolitan cities around europe that are playing year in year out in the champions league. Why if he is still so good does it appear that lcfc are his best option for football as a free agent. The teams around europe probably really do know more than us.

Man Utd are the only team bidding for Angel Di Maria but doesn't mean he's shitI dont think the above player was a free agent who would agree to a two yr 5m deal. If he was man utd would have a little competition for his signature. On the other hand it really does appear that we dont for Mr Cambiasso.

And there's an article somewhere stating he didn't know where he stood at Inter until the last game of the season.

QPR didn't pursue, Tottenham didn't, west ham didn't. Hardly clubs with an excellent record for picking out gems for free? Often throwing money at overrated players. RDL was 'not good enough' for Norwich. We only had competition from Barnsley for drinky. Knockaert was unknown. Etc etc

At the money he wants.

Hardly clubs with an excellent record for picking out gems for free? Often throwing money at overrated players. A couple of them had it in common that they wanted hom to trial for a deal.Another thing in common for those teams. All been managed by Arry. . Not a great example.

And there's an article somewhere stating he didn't know where he stood at Inter until the last game of the season. We signed Cottee when he came from Selangor, is that compared to Inter. Or to make it more of a laugh, is £60mil di Maria that same situation as Cambiasso!? Before you start joining in the debate why don't you read the whole thread mate? Ok, so if that is true because all were going of is untrusted newspaper articles with everything, the Italian finished May? We're nearly in September which is a long time to be without a club and to be finding his next club!
st albans fox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 None of you have any idea if other clubs have looked at him and, faced with the complex nature of his ownership, not bothered to pursue.
johnny the fox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I REALLY DON'T WANT THIS CANT NOW.. please, please Nige fook him off..
ktfox59 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 None of you have any idea if other clubs have looked at him and, faced with the complex nature of his ownership, not bothered to pursue. That my friend, is a very good point and one I hadnt thought about. Fair play.
deep blue Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 [quote name="Itsthejoeker" ... And there's an article somewhere stating he didn't know where he stood at Inter until the last game of the season. But if that was 3 months ago, surely plenty of time to give a lot of thought to his future, so that by the time City came in for him he should have had most of the issues sorted out in his mind. So, if deliberation about his future is what's holding up the deal, why does it need to take so long after all this time?
weller54 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I REALLY DON'T WANT THIS CANT NOW.. please, please Nige fook him off.. Agree!!.. Get Mcarthur in instead please!!
Itsthejoeker Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Who's going to boo him when he's unveiled on Sunday then?
Jace Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Well I have to admit if he's looking at right hand drive cars he must have signed for someone in the UK or Japan so hopefully we should find out the outcome shortly
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Who's going to boo him when he's unveiled on Sunday then? 30,000 City fans when Arsenal name him on their bench.
Guest Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 30,000 City fans when Arsenal name him on their bench. Ha I think I've reached the point where I'd find this funny!
