ealingfox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Just getting angrier and more disappointed about this by the minute. And very worried for the season ahead. Rot setting in just in time to entrench itself over the international break before we finally get the opportunity to play teams we had a chance of beating. If Mahrez and Knockaert are going to be anywhere near that bad in any other games this season, there's no way we will stay up.
BigMicky Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I hate this. Take 3 of those meaningless trophies away and our trophy success starts to look a little bare! A trophy is a trophy. I do agree that priorities lie elsewhere this season considering how hard it was to get back in this division. However, there's no particular evidence to suggest going out of the cups early helps League performance. I am disappointed with losing to a League 2 side at home tonight as we should have enough to perform to a level to beat them. Nevertheless, I can see that it isn't the end of the world. By no means is it a meaningless trophy though!!! Its meaningless this year. When we are an established prem team then let's try and win all trophies available, until then its FA cup and then the league for me.
foxfanazer Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Yes it did as normally I never boo but tonight I was not happy at spending £15 to watch people giving 50% effort!! I expect a bit moreThe price is irrelevant. You were happy enough to pay it and there is no guarantees in football. The whole booing thing has always seemed bizarre to me. Who does it benefit?
BigMicky Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Good job you aren't around when we went to Wembley twice and actually won a trophy. You'd have been well disappointed. I'm of the school of thought we should try to do as well as we can in every competition. Call me ol fashioned. I was at all 3 finals. Really pleased you are back, I love laughing at your posts. Not all were reserves, even so, majority have been or are a part of the first team!! Erm no they havent.

001merp Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Where is all this 'fantastic spirit' and 'wonderful team ethic' now? This. I think the fact that Morgan, our club captain, was out kicking balls around at half time shows that either they weren't up for winning or were too arrogant and thought they could win on the same dodgy performance in the second half. He should have been in the changing room trying to boost morale or get some passion into them. Hopefully we'll see a better performance and team spirit on Sunday.

The whole booing thing has always seemed bizarre to me. Who does it benefit? As I say, I don't normally boo and certainly don't boo during a game but tonight I felt let down..... Yes I chose to pay it as I'll always follow my club but I don't think its a lot to ask for people to try.... I know I've picked on Knocky but he deserved the wrath tonight and booing, show some pride in yourself and your shirt!!

Guest Col city fan Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I was at all 3 finals. Really pleased you are back, I love laughing at your posts. Erm no they havent. And did you enjoy the finals? Did you laff along, and sing and revel in the success of the two victories? Were you chanting the City songs of the time and stating how great MON was? And now you say this cup is unimportant? Did you say that back then too?

I know plenty do but I've just never felt the urge, even after our most abject displaysEveryone's different though

Simonb Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I didn't think mahrez was as bad as people state.. the movement was poor he had no help.. I thought the back four were poor but I blame that on hamer not taking charge midfield was run by two inexperienced kids n thats where we struggled n knocky n mahrez clearly were trying not to get injured.. gtf was clumsy all game n wood got no service they just didn't seem interested tonight.. but its hard to blame them wen we are thin on the ground for players n have the gunners on sunday... I certainly didn't boo yhem.. whats the point.. I just enjoyed being able to take my four year old to his first city game as he cant come to the league games as its too expensive n I sitin sk1 so not ideal really. Shame about how poor a game it was but he enjoyed shouting all game
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Fair enough. I know plenty do but I've just never felt the urge, even after our most abject displays Everyone's different though I don't like it and feel bad for doing it but for whatever reason, it got to me tonight more than normal and felt like i'd been let down that's all
funkyrobot Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 If his dad wasn't involved with football there is no way he'd be a professional footballer IMO. He looked completely lost and at times dejected, the lad knew he wasn't good enough (remember this is also against a League 2 side, not Manchester City).I've just read that Matt Elliot gave Pearson motm?? If he did then fcuk me he needs to get a new career.
DennisNedry Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 If resting players tonight means we get something from Arsenal, it will be worth it.
I am Rod Hull Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Huh? Stoke City were a division above us and at home, so the result went to form? Can't imagine that result would really have jarred us one bit. Nowt to do what division they were in as I was replying to this - "Going out of cup competitions early to "concentrate on the league" is the biggest myth in football."

What the part were you said this was a 'meaningless trophy'? Yet, wasn't this the trophy that MON won twice (or equivalent)? You ain't done your homework here Michael...
foxfanazer Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 If resting players tonight means we get something from Arsenal, it will be worth it.I honestly don't think tonight will have an effect either way

veezeeblue Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 of course we would all like to win the L Cup again buy I have to agree that the feeling I have at this loss is not a 10th of the feeling I would have had if we werent newly promoted premier underdogs with a weaker squad than most in our league with several injury problems and a very pathetic result in the transfer market so far bring on the League games and lets hope for a good FA Cup run once we have created some kind of momentum and saftey net in the prem so it´s all relative this year, most of you talk in absolutes all the time and polarize each others positions bring on Sunday When weve been in the prem for a couple of years I will be livid if this happens again
funkyrobot Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Where is Albrighton ??? Have we signed another crock? He was watching the game in the stands with two older guys, in the block next to B1 where I was. Presumably injured??
Dan Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I usually applaud to help drown them out, just couldn't bring myself too tonight. Same. I'm not applauding that utter dross. I will applaud even if we lose 0-6 on Sunday providing the effort is there, but when it isn't there (and no-one is telling me there was nearly the usual) I won't criticise a single person for booing. I'm ****ing annoyed that we've still used a good 4/5 (add even more with the subs) players who could play on Sunday yet not actually put them into a proper system. That team didn't fit together in the slightest. The lack of pace was utterly depressing and Chris Wood to me just proved again how limited he really is. He is not a Premier League forward. In terms of the league, I'm not actually any more concerned than I was 24 hours ago because I'm absolutely certain that we will put up our usual proper fight on Sunday and I honestly wouldn't be shocked if we won the game, I'm just annoyed that we've blatantly neglected what is the only silverware in our clubs history. Our display tonight has actually done our own history a dis-service. I do think this game came at the wrong time, but that doesn't excuse a blatant lack of effort. I'd normally be cheering for a goal at the end but truth be told when I heard Man Utd had been stuffed I couldn't care - the only thing I was bothered about was the potential humiliation but Man Utd's result effectively diverted any attention away from us so there was next to no motivation for me to give a ****. It'd have been a chore sitting through another half hour of that utter dross. It's just a shame that we as a club have bought into football's ultimate myth.
