willie-bell-in-rothley Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 To sum it up, kids given a chance to impress and didnt take it, first team pro's not bothered, not the end of the world, looking forward to getting another 39+ points , thats far more important.
benpicko Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Fvcking hell some of these posts have to be on the windup. Not quite as bad as on facebook ('Fu(king garbage again! Forest and derby are wetting themselves! We will pass them at the end of the season as we go back'), but from these responses you'd have thought we were reacting to this loss after two huge losses against lower league teams, rather than a promising start against two of the best teams in the league with key players missing. We're not suddenly going to be shít against Arsenal because a side filled with U21 players lost in a cup match. A win would've been nice for everybody but it's not what's happened, let's move onto the league instead rather than dwelling on a result that's likely to have zero implications on the season. We're not going down because we lost to Shrewsbury.
weller54 Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 When a side is obviously sent out to avoid injury and give new lads a run-out, and tactics are adopted that are designed to avoid having players tire themselves, then this result is clearly as meaningless as a friendly. In the past, PL clubs cared about this cup, but now obviously they don't. Remember going out to Stoke last year in the FA Cup on 4 January? Did you remember it still on 8 April, when Leicester lost their next game? I didn't think so. Losing away to Stoke is slightly different than losing at home to Shrewsbury in all fairness!!!
Guest Col city fan Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Christ above some of these comments are bordering on lunacy, but here is just a few ridiculous ones. 1. 'Their CM would walk into our first team squad.' Yeah he may have looked good playing against two teenagers who have played very little competitive senior football. But to suggest in any serious note that he would even be fit to lace the boots of Drinkwater, James, Hammond and King is quite ridiculous. 2. 'The Rot is setting in.' We have the toughest start in the league, we already have one more point than most predicted, and but in a bloody good showing against the best team in the league. Absolute codswallop as our Nige would say. 3. 'Pearson sent the team out not to give 100%.' Really? Does he seem like the sort of bloke who tolerates losing any match? The Fans who went can't be let down by the team selection, he has said all week the Kids will be getting a run out, but if it makes you feel like a superfan to go the 2nd round of the league cup so you can have a good old moan about how loyal you are and been let down then poor you. 4. 'The League Cup is important.' It's not, as can be seen by all Premier League teams tonight sending out a weakened side. It's nowhere near the same competition it was back when we won it, as teams no longer consider it a worthwhile venture both financially or playing wise. The reason the FA cup has a greater respect still is that it is played on Saturdays, meaning managers are more willing to pick a stronger 11 as they have a full weeks rest until the next league game. All in all it is disappointing not to be in the next round, but if people think that this game will have any lasting effect on our survival chances this season then they are kidding themselves. Pearson will have learnt alot about his squad tonight and will force his hand in the transfer market, which can only be a good thing. So quit the embarassing booing and whinging and get behind the boys Sunday afternoon. The league cup is important. At least in my eyes. Any cup competition we play in matters. Try telling the fans of the clubs who have played in the league cup final over recent years that the trip to Wembley doesn't matter. The league cup is a very winnable competition for a team with commitment to doing so. Again however, a Nigel Pearson side whimpers out of the cup, looking to be not bothered. Or so everyone keeps saying. But some will gloss it over like it doesn't matter at all. Personally, I don't think it's a big priority this season. But yes, it matters. At least to me.
Karljohn Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Christ knows what this forum will be like on Sunday evening if Arsenal win.
weller54 Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 I don't quite understand why we don't want to try to progress /win this competition.. The number of games we'll play this season compared to last is considerably less, and lots of rest inbetween matches. To say we need to rest our players for the league games and that cup competitions are too physically demanding on our squad is pathetic and just hilights the fact that our squad is ridiculously understrength to compete at this level...
youglan Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 we are understrength after wot i seen last night the back up keeper no good flip at crosses the midfield looked weaked last night i can see a season of fighting relegation there was booing at the end but there have a right too when u pay to watch shewsbury beat you
Callabinho Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 The only negative I would like to express, is my sheer disappointment in Cain, so far he has failed to impress, and if he is that good he should have made some sort of impression by now?

SilenceofTheRams Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Downright embarrassing - bumped into me' ol' mucker Mark Lawrenson this morning in Cafe Nero on the SouthBank, we as per usual had a little chinwag. He's predicting us to go straight back down with Burnley and Southampton - interesting thoughts by him. Could we eclipse Derby's all time low points total?
Carlos88LCFC Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 It could be worse. We could have lost 4-0 against MK Dons with a 25 million quid Brazilian playing & an England international. I said before the game that I wanted us to lose... Same with FA cup 1st round... Our only focus this year needs to be doing well in the Premiership. Look what happened to Wigan. Downright embarrassing - bumped into me' ol' mucker Mark Lawrenson this morning in Cafe Nero on the SouthBank, we as per usual had a little chinwag. He's predicting us to go straight back down with Burnley and Southampton - interesting thoughts by him. Could we eclipse Derby's all time low points total? Are you being serious?

One defeat and all of the ****** come crawling out of the wood work, I forgot Hamer, Was, Pearson, Watson, Cain, GTF, Wood and Tony all started against Chelsea.....They hardly kicked out of reverse, and with the squad as thin as it is can you blame them?
Silverdaz Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 meh not buying into the RL doomsday spin, probably too much to ask 2 kids to start in CM in hindsight, Knocky hasn't started the season well at all Thats because knocky is overated
Andy King Power Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Geez, lots of negativity going on here. Some even relieved that we’re not playing any more League Cup games?! Oh man. First of all, all props to the Shrews for putting in a good performance. They were up against Premier League opposition, and rose to the challenge to win on the road. You continue to keep your grip over us, . To those that wanted out, I’m sure everyone’s bought up cases of Premier League teams doing well and staying up and all. What about Shrewsbury? They’re one of the favourites for promotion, and are currently undefeated at this point in time. Do you think they would say ‘screw this, we need to focus on promotion/staying up? Why play in a losing cause? We’re only going to get knocked out by an even bigger team’s reserves by 5 goals plus.’ (Before you even ask, I recall it’s 25,000 pounds for winning League 2 and about 10,000 if they made it to a semi-final for the League Cup.) I’d take wins anyway I can get them. As noted, you’re in it to win it. Otherwise what’s the point? From an injury point of view, fair enough. Then again, I’m sure Pearson and his staff are already working on it. This was a game for confidence boosting, getting experience into some standout youth, and some game time to the backups/those coming off injuries. A chance for a win and keep our spirits up. Person himself admitted that he’ll take the cups seriously. It’s not a priority, but it’s nice to have. He wants to win no matter the match. He believed that the team he had on the park would do the job. and let’s be fair, that team on the park would surely have enough to put away a League 2 contender. It sounded like a disappointing game from all players involved, with one or two giving a toss. I expected the youth to seize one of the rare opportunities they will get to press for a bench spot… not exactly inspiring any confidence from that. Let’s just hope that match is a kick up the backside for all concerned. Yes, you did very well against Everton and Chelsea, but if you slack off, you will be punished. Let that be a message once we get to Stoke and start playing teams around us. Put in everything and get those three points. Turn that impressive showing against the big teams into professional wins against the others. No one will hand you a victory. You’re only as good as your last game. Good performances against Everton and Chelsea are going to get forgotten if they played like that against Stoke. I have a feeling that Pearson’s going to be using this game to spur the squad to get something against Arsenal. Let us hope that is the case.
Webbo Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Last night was a crap performance and a crap result, people are entitled to comment on that. That doesn't mean they think we'll be relegated or the manager wants sacking. The over reaction to the so called over reaction is a little silly imo.
maddog Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Abject is the only way to describe that performance. Thought Wood attacked that header late on really well that went just wide but that's clutching at a perverbial positive straw. Its going to and hopefully will be a different Leicester City Sunday. Its paramount we are clinical when we get our chances or we will be punished.

What about your over-reaction to the over-reaction to the over-reaction, though? In all seriousness, I quite agree. We were far from crap against Everton or Chelsea, but were crap last night. I'd be pretty confident that we won't be crap on Sunday, not least as half last night's team won't be playing. Move on!
Webbo Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 What about your over-reaction to the over-reaction to the over-reaction, though? I think you're over reacting.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Excuse me if I don't applaud a bunch of ***** who've just been calling my city of birth a shit hole for the past 90 minutes. I don't think you should go to anymore games if you get this wound up by bog standard football chants.
Leicester_Numan Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Although the manner of the defeat is painful and embarrassing, I'm not really bothered about going out of the cup. It's our lowest priority this season, we have a small injury hit squad at present and we don't exactly have an easy start to the season. An FA cup run is entirely different, hopefully by then we'll have more players in and our run in is about as easy as it gets in this division, on paper anyway. I would hope the players will take it more seriously than they seemed to last night. I don't mind the defeat but to not even bother putting up a fight against a league 2 side is an embarrassment. Having said that, Shrewsbury did play pretty well and deserved the win
Monsell1976 Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Christ knows what this forum will be like on Sunday evening if Arsenal win.Nobody expects to beat arsenal, but I'm having a guess here, the reaction might be due to who beat us, and how easy they beat us.
suffolk fox Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 Ah, so it can only be down to Pearson if they're motivated can it? I'm sorry, Pearson isn't blameless here. I will defend that bloke against criticism 99% of the time but I saw a collective lack of effort tonight and that isn't a co-incidence. To me it looked like he sent them out to play at 60% and see how it panned out. We didn't even make it hard for Shrewsbury. It isn't like they've come here, nicked a goal, parked the bus and hoped for the best, Shrewsbury genuinely played the better football and if they had won by three I wouldn't have moaned at it being an unfair scoreline. We were absolutely hideous and anyone who disagrees cannot possibly have seen the game, or they're just deluding themselves. The funny thing is I'm not even anymore pessimistic about the season as a whole than I was 24 hours ago - I'm just referring to this game because it truly was a sacrifice of a potential cup run. It was a joke. Top post this agree with every word. From your frustrated reaction you like me suffered that.
suffolk fox Posted 27 August 2014 Posted 27 August 2014 How did Wesolowski play? On his showing last night we shouldn't have let him go? He played well a lot of good link up play? Funny though when the teams were announced I was the only one in the west stand to clap his name when it was announced. Bloke next to me says why you clapping his name? I say, cos he played for us and came up from our academy. He says did he?
