foxfanazer Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 You read what I put so you know what I'm telling you. Don't fanny about trying to avoid my point. I don't like the idea of wanting your own team to lose. When did he say he wanted his team to lose?
DennisNedry Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Let's be honest, the League Cup is the trophy that's looked down upon anyway, and we already have our names on it multiple times. I hope we take the FA Cup more seriously, I'd love us to win that.
EGBFitness Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Ian: So Nigel, anything you can tell us about potential transfers? Nigel: No Ian, there isn't. And frankly I think it would be incredibly unprofessional to talk about other clubs players. No Ian, please don't do it. Don't do it Ian. Ian: James McArthur? Fuhcwehjbc I can half expect Nige acting like Bricktop on Snatch Are you a dog Ian
ithuriel Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Well, after a very good game against Everton that was quite poor to say the least.
leeleic Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 This probably sounds daft but personally I couldn't give a flying f**k about the Capital One cup. Especially now that we're a fledgling Premier League side. First things first and the priority must be to stay up. Don't need any distractions this autumn - especially with a slim squad. I know our only "major" trophy wins are the League Cups but I'm afraid it has become a pointless competition. The FA Cup is different as it still has status, it can give a team a boost and the players place genuine value on it. Never happy to see Leicester lose but tonight's result doesn't bother me at all. Agree!
lcfcsnow Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 PS. IMO James Pearson, Cain and Watson showed me enough tonight to give me the belief that they will never make it to a decent level in football. We should already know that. Pearson released by Rotherham, no club for 3 years until signed up by his dad went out to Carlisle last season and was sent back.. Watson released by Wigan, and Cain couldn't get a game at Mansfield. We've also got Dawson out on loan at Notts County warming the bench. These U21's perform well as a group but there is no real talent there that's going to be able to make the step up, even into league football it seems.
Robin JD Popley Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Disappointing to lose in any fashion, but, as NP said - tonight we just didn't show up. However, will it determine our season? I highly doubt it. It's a shame as every fan enjoys a cup run, however, at least for this one season I think we have to take the blow to our ego as a club and try and use it as a positive that we don't want feel like this again as a squad. As for his post match interview, I thought he hit the nail on the head, was incredibly measured (well, as best he could be, given the circumstances) and he, like all of us, just wants Monday to end with hopefully more recruits and no more players leaving. Judging by his remarks, I think there probably are deals on the table but he isn't prepared to discuss them until everything is confirmed. We probably know a good proportion of the deals that are likely and in that, I include, the two midfielders, potentially one of the strikers mentioned and maybe even a defender. However, he will do what he can. He isn't a miracle worker and, as I keep saying, the only people who truly know what is going on are those in the Executive team and Management team. Bar, that, no one else really knows what is going on. Let's hold our nerve though, we've come this far under Nigel, it would be a shame to think that self doubt is slowly creeping back in.
Monsell1976 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I Don't blame the manager for selecting the team he did, that team if motivated should have beaten a league two side. Pearson rested the players he obviously thought needed a rest, and I'm sure he didn't expect the team he sent out to play in that disgraceful way, lacked confidence, quality, and lack the effort and we expect from a Pearson side. The result hurt, the performance was poor, but my main concern is how has this affected confidence, I hope they respond Sunday and get the performance levels back, I'm not panicking but we will need some positive results to keep the confidence and belief up. At the end of the day, it's a bad night but the premier in pearsons words is our priority, so we have got put tonight down as a bad experience and move onto the next game.

Harry - LCFC Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 When did he say he wanted his team to lose? It's clearly implied. If you bet against a team you want to see them lose so that you can benefit. It's self explanatory.
65RosesFox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Im a City fan, I also like to gamble. Are you really telling me I shouldn't? For fooks sake.. I see where you're coming from Col.Always bet with your head, not with your heart, and look for value.
Tuna Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 See Sean 'Pound Notes' Dyche and his glorious Burnley team went out at home to Sheff Wed.
irishfox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I wasn't at the game but when reading the team sheet before the match I was concerned with two U21 players starting in CM but with the injuries we have in that position it's understandable, NP would have have King/Hammond/Drinky or James there alongside one of them tonight if he could I would think to have a word every now and again. It's a box to box job and maybe thats where Shrews were able to take a bit of control of the game, it's a big job for two young players against a much more experienced CM. No need to panic and I bet we get a result against Arsenal Sunday
Webbo Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Well that was a load of shit. It's no exaggeration to say that without some woeful finishing they could have had 3/4. None of the youngsters shone at all. Apparently Matt Elliot gave young Pearson motm, I don't know what match he was watching but he was at least as crap as anyone else in the side.
leeleic Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 SPEND SOME ****ING MONEY! Irritating to see people making excuses for them, that is an absolutely hideous result. Where is all this 'fantastic spirit' and 'wonderful team ethic' now? Evaporating before our eyes with yet another top 5 team at the weekend (in part blame the fixtures for that, it isn't very fair giving us the start we have). Beginning of a losing habit here, as someone pointed out, that Huddersfield replay sparked an absolute nightmare, and this may well have done the same. Suddenly Everton seems a very long time ago. In the bottom 3 by Sunday night and it will be very difficult to recover from. How did we manage to get Category A Academy status? We're churning out players who are Sunday League quality at best at the moment. And this supposedly excellent sports science and medical department? James has been out for weeks on end with a 'sore shin'. What the **** is that? Come on now surely you can play with a sore bloody shin. Afraid to say I'm beginning to think Pearson has been reckless and arrogant this summer. It could be another month before we win our first game of the season. Oh dear!
Dan Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I am not having it for one second that we were at 100% tonight. Awful performance from literally every player (barring maybe Moore). Very disappointed to effectively chuck away a potential cup run. Though the inevitable knee-jerk reactions are going to be equally as embarrassing.
johnny the fox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Fooking embarrassing, unacceptable, pathetic. Really very disappointed and extremely angry, we have been badly let down and its just not good enough on any level. yeah, but apart from that, your really happy with the performance? good lad.
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 It's clearly implied. If you bet against a team you want to see them lose so that you can benefit. It's self explanatory. You really do need to get off yer high horse Harry..you really do.. I can bet on who I want to, when I want to. I still support my home team and have for probably more years than you can remember. I'd have been just as happy to see City win, as I was to pick up a few quid when they didn't. Go preach to someone who's listening son.
foxfanazer Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 It's clearly implied. If you bet against a team you want to see them lose so that you can benefit. It's self explanatory. No it's really not
MooseBreath Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Sounds like we basically threw the game. That being the case I feel for the fans who paid good money to see it. I don't care an awful lot that we're out, but the league cup is our best chance of silverware and Europe, and you can build on that kind of success. If the club is serious about challenging in the top half of the prem, we should start taking the league cup seriously.
HitchinFox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Agree.. But hope this defeat doesn't knock our confidence!! Don't think so myself. Far from our best 11 so just one ofthose things. I've got a feeling tonight's result will help us in the long run.

I hope we don't become a pointless club like Aston Villa who spend their existence finishing 16th and going out in the first round of every cup competition.

It's only taken two Premier League games before the wheels have fallen off and we are now doomed! How will we ever get out of the bottom three after Sunday night (as of course you've written us off already against Arsenal) with only 35 games to go. Me personally, I judge how are season will pan out based on our two Premier League games where we showed, spirit, determination and fight. Rather than a midweek performance with 8 changes (I won't say first team as we've yet to play our first team this season)
weller54 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 If we lose against arsenal on Sunday I can see us starting a downward spiral.. Hope Arsenal have an off day, that Giroud is crocked and Ozil has food poisoning from eating too many frankfurters!!!....
Webbo Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Have to admit I bet against Leicester for the first time in my life tonight. 8-1 when we know Pearson's going to play the youngsters was too good to turn down. I didn't bet much, I'd have been happier for us to win but the money's a nice consolation.
