Leicesterpool Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Nigel certainly does sound peed tonight, does anyone get that feeling Nigel does sound quite concerned about this transfer window?
Devonfox1884 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 The only one who looked like they were interested That's because he now won't get a game until the 3rd round of the FA cup, he would have wanted a cup run so that he could continue to play games.
weller54 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 This probably sounds daft but personally I couldn't give a flying f**k about the Capital One cup. Especially now that we're a fledgling Premier League side. First things first and the priority must be to stay up. Don't need any distractions this autumn - especially with a slim squad. I know our only "major" trophy wins are the League Cups but I'm afraid it has become a pointless competition. The FA Cup is different as it still has status, it can give a team a boost and the players place genuine value on it. Never happy to see Leicester lose but tonight's result doesn't bother me at all. Agree.. But hope this defeat doesn't knock our confidence!!
johnny the fox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Fair play to Nige he spoke well to stinger.. as always spot on.
fuchsntf Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 City should have won. Pearson should have been more positive He was right in his selection. The chosen players, I presume were not up for an English cuptie, and didnt realise a bit of honesty was needed. Did the young ones prove their right to be chosen. Were our normal 1st choicers up for the fight, or too arrogant..?????.. Is the capital cup worth it for PL managers at this stage of the season.Time for honesty, questions should be put PL management from sponsors, because fans are feeling short changed, not on losses, but effort.

I was going to say the exact same, in fact put something similar before the game. Would would everyone take at the end of the season, good cup run or safety? Good to see young lads given some first team opportunity, shame about the loss but wasn't humiliating like Man Utd, so who cares really!?
Danno Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Thought we would lose tbh. What do people expect having GTF and Wood up front.
Harry - LCFC Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I doubt that very much. Just not a good enough team IMO. I won a few quid on tonight's result if truth be told. They hadn't lost this season and we put out quite a weak side. I'm not surprised. You doubt what? That the players didn't try hard enough? Well they didn't. There's not much to be debated there, they just didn't. Nice to hear that you bet against your own team (effectively wanting them to lose of course). Really, it's fvcking wonderful.
Mark_w Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Ian: So Nigel, anything you can tell us about potential transfers?Nigel: No Ian, there isn't. And frankly I think it would be incredibly unprofessional to talk about other clubs players. No Ian, please don't do it. Don't do it Ian. Ian: James McArthur? Fuhcwehjbc
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Going out of cup competitions early to "concentrate on the league" is the biggest myth in football. We couldn't win for love nor money after that FA Cup replay against Huddersfield in 12/13. We're short on bodies but winning breeds success. Dissapointed with this, not so much Nige but the players who were more than strong enough to beat Shrewsbury; well done to them though.

Tuna Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Fooking embarrassing, unacceptable, pathetic. Really very disappointed and extremely angry, we have been badly let down and its just not good enough on any level.

ealingfox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 SPEND SOME ****ING MONEY! Irritating to see people making excuses for them, that is an absolutely hideous result. Where is all this 'fantastic spirit' and 'wonderful team ethic' now? Evaporating before our eyes with yet another top 5 team at the weekend (in part blame the fixtures for that, it isn't very fair giving us the start we have). Beginning of a losing habit here, as someone pointed out, that Huddersfield replay sparked an absolute nightmare, and this may well have done the same. Suddenly Everton seems a very long time ago. In the bottom 3 by Sunday night and it will be very difficult to recover from. How did we manage to get Category A Academy status? We're churning out players who are Sunday League quality at best at the moment. And this supposedly excellent sports science and medical department? James has been out for weeks on end with a 'sore shin'. What the **** is that? Come on now surely you can play with a sore bloody shin. Afraid to say I'm beginning to think Pearson has been reckless and arrogant this summer. It could be another month before we win our first game of the season.

You read what I put so you know what I'm telling you. Don't fanny about trying to avoid my point. I don't like the idea of wanting your own team to lose.
roger the dodger Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 oh well so Shrewsbury get revenge for 1982

Surely it's the same for the youth players, who may never get anther chance to play for the first team again this season.

BlueSi13 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 First off, congratulations to Shrewsbury Town, they were the much much better side and could have gave us a real hammering tonight. But for us, it was absolute dogshit, bafflingly dreadful. The team and management should have realised that winning games is going to be a tough ask considering our league start, so tonight was really a chance for us to express ourselves and build confidence with some sweet expansive play and to score some good goals, i.e. to remind ourselves that we still know how to win games. But no, we get totally and utterly outplayed. Make no excuses too, this was a strong team we put out tonight, even with our injuries. Some of the players looked very dejected walking off. I understand that the league is and will always be our priority like it is for every professional football club but this competition represents a real chance for us to win silverware, and I don't know about the rest of you but the best years I remember as a young City supporter were those watching us get to Wembley and seeing us win cups and getting into Europe, not scraping a 14th place finish in the league. But onwards to Arsenal where I can only hope we up our abilities 99%+. PS. IMO James Pearson, Cain and Watson showed me enough tonight to give me the belief that they will never make it to a decent level in football.
