Harry - LCFC Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 You really do need to get off yer high horse Harry..you really do.. I can bet on who I want to, when I want to. I still support my home team and have for probably more years than you can remember. I'd have been just as happy to see City win, as I was to pick up a few quid when they didn't. Go preach to someone who's listening son. You've just been discussing this with me - quite clearly showing you were prepared to listen - and then pretend you aren't when you start hearing things you don't like. Don't worry, I'll be sure to say what I think as loud as I like if this comes up again.
dogadug Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I know exactly what Col's saying. I've bet against City a few times in the past. Of course you want them to win, but if they don't then at least you have a little consolation.
foxfanazer Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Yep. I hope we don't become a pointless club like Aston Villa who spend their existence finishing 16th and going out in the first round of every cup competition.3 games into the season nate. Nothing to suggest any of that
veezeeblue Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 SPEND SOME ****ING MONEY! Irritating to see people making excuses for them, that is an absolutely hideous result. Where is all this 'fantastic spirit' and 'wonderful team ethic' now? Evaporating before our eyes with yet another top 5 team at the weekend (in part blame the fixtures for that, it isn't very fair giving us the start we have). Beginning of a losing habit here, as someone pointed out, that Huddersfield replay sparked an absolute nightmare, and this may well have done the same. Suddenly Everton seems a very long time ago. In the bottom 3 by Sunday night and it will be very difficult to recover from. How did we manage to get Category A Academy status? We're churning out players who are Sunday League quality at best at the moment. And this supposedly excellent sports science and medical department? James has been out for weeks on end with a 'sore shin'. What the **** is that? Come on now surely you can play with a sore bloody shin. Afraid to say I'm beginning to think Pearson has been reckless and arrogant this summer. It could be another month before we win our first game of the season. Where my meds
orangecity23 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 The team was clearly sent out to just get through the game whilst expending as little energy as possible. Once we conceded, there was no way through a packed defence while our players weren't going to run, close down or move off the ball. When Konckaert squared the ball across the six yard box in the second half, not a single player even tried to get on the end of it, with an easy goal waiting. It's almost as if we didn't want to score to avoid playing extra time. What a waste of time.
CountesthorpeFox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 A poor result.Wont be getting my knickers in a twist like.People making comparisons with the O'Neill era, I get it, but that was over a decade ago, the prize for staying in the premier league is a lot greater now. See O'neill 2009 . . playing a weakened team in Moscow with Villa a few years back . . to concentrate on the league. I can tell you, a section of Villa fans never forgave him for that.Anyhow, Not a good result but I cant say I am devastated. I didn't want the team to lose, of course I didn't, but I want the team to win league games more and if any positives can be found from tonight, its that the squad fringe really isn't strong enough and the propensity to invest over the next few days will be increased. Remember the Burton game? We were even worse, lost 4-2. Kasper, RDL, Konch, James, Knocky and Schlupp all started that night . . . went on to be mainstays of a team with 102 points.Well played Shrews, I am sure they will enjoy tonight. We move on.
Danno Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 3 games into the season nate. Nothing to suggest any of thatI'm not mate, but I would hope we took it more seriously next season. I don't think we would have gone very far if we got through anyway.
I am Rod Hull Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Going out of cup competitions early to "concentrate on the league" is the biggest myth in football. We couldn't win for love nor money after that FA Cup replay against Huddersfield in 12/13. We're short on bodies but winning breeds success. Dissapointed with this, not so much Nige but the players who were more than strong enough to beat Shrewsbury; well done to them though. Stoke 2-1 Leicester, last seasons FA cup Next 16 games - WWWWWDDWWWWDDWDW
foxfanazer Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I'm not mate, but I would hope we took it more seriously next season. I don't think we would have gone very far if we got through anyway.I don't either. The size of the squad is very alarming
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I cant be bothered to read through it all but one of my main frustrations tonight was Knockaert. Its been a long time since I saw such a lazy player and also with such bad attitude!!! Honestly he was a disgrace!! Clearly Pearson jnr, Cain and Watson looked well short of what we need but they were not helped by the so called seniors around them! Best team won and only consolation it wasn't more!!
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I'm sorry all, I still don't really get the love for GTF. I know it's been quite endemic on here but I've always thought he looked ok last season because he was playing in a good team. The general ability of the team made him look ok, so to speak. Nige surely isn't seeing him as a serious option this season is he? Or am I being too harsh?
ealingfox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! It's only taken two Premier League games before the wheels have fallen off and we are now doomed! How will we ever get out of the bottom three after Sunday night (as of course you've written us off already against Arsenal) with only 35 games to go. Me personally, I judge how are season will pan out based on our two Premier League games where we showed, spirit, determination and fight. Rather than a midweek performance with 8 changes (I won't say first team as we've yet to play our first team this season) Pains me as much as anyone to say it but if you think we'll get anything off Arsenal you're deluded. Whether it's 0-1 or 0-6, Arsenal at just under even money (William Hill) is an absolutely silly price.
65RosesFox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 If we lose against arsenal on Sunday I can see us starting a downward spiral.. Hope Arsenal have an off day, that Giroud is crocked and Ozil has food poisoning from eating too many frankfurters!!!.... Well you'll be pleased to hear Giroud is crocked. Could be out for 3 months.
Tielemans63 Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 If nothing else tonight should show the money men at the club that the team needs some serious investment. Get dem deals done innit.

I rated him last year and felt he got unfair criticism just because of his weight but I wouldn't of given him another year.... seemed odd
Stadt Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 I genuinely feared GTF had caused some damage to their player when he fell on him. They weren't even very good, really - we were just much worse. When they hit the post twice
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 If we haven't got a strong enough squad, it is hardly wise to try and progress in the cup is it?You are joking right?Of course we should try and progress as far as possible in every competition
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 You are joking right? Of course we should try and progress as far as possible in every competition This, this and this again.
stevelcfc Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Knockaert was our worst player by a country mile, his attitude was shocking, it was like playing with 10 men. When he did get it he cut inside every-time to get tackled then he'd huff and puff abit. Hamer isn't anywhere near the quality of kasper either, if he gets injured we could be in trouble. As shit as we were, there are positives. No players were injured, those who believe in the distraction of the cup (I don't but hey) get their wish, fringe players got 90 mins of match fitness under their belt and the youth lads made their debuts. Without making excuses for the players, it must be extremely hard to get yourself up for this game, tuesday night in a cup you boss has said doesn't matter, in front of no-one and against a, on paper, piss poor team.
Callabinho Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Don't really give a shit to be honest, it was frustrating at times but we had to start some of the kids at some point. They struggled today but then again Shrewsbury wanted it more, we looked like we came to show off our premier league badges, and go home. Ah well, Arsenal on Sunday.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 Nice to hear that you bet against your own team (effectively wanting them to lose of course). Really, it's fvcking wonderful. He's a QPR fan. Off-point - what's the proper term for a QPR fan? A QPRsehole?
Guest Col city fan Posted 26 August 2014 Posted 26 August 2014 You've just been discussing this with me - quite clearly showing you were prepared to listen - and then pretend you aren't when you start hearing things you don't like. Don't worry, I'll be sure to say what I think as loud as I like if this comes up again. Well you probably won't have to wait long.. If the odds on Arsenal are as short as Ealingfox says, I'm sorry but I think I know where my little fiver might be going. That's my attitude really when I bet against City. I make a point of not betting much. If City win, great, I've only lost five. If they don't, well, at least I've made 7.50 or whatever it is. Or about 20 quid tonight as it happened. Softens the blow, don't mean I don't want us to win. Not that I should have to explain that to you Arry..
