Stadt Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Oh and that squad looks horrible - like something Wales would put out!Wales have more world class players!
HowardsBulletHeader Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I mean Colback... FFS.. Then you throw in Delph, Rose and Townsend.. Christ on a feckin bike..
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Embarrassingly bad squad. Forget world rankings with a squad like that we are lucky to be in the top 30.
conLAD logan Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Well if Morgan keeps this up hodgson might have called him up to the England squad if it wasn't for him deciding to play for Jamaica
Grandad. Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Hodgson named his team yesterday for anyone who is interested: Hart Stones -- Jones -- Cahill -- Baines Wilshire Henderson -- The Ox Sterling Rooney -- Sturridge That is the 11 players to play tonight and that is the way I would set up, maybe a flat 4-4-2 though with Sterling and The Ox on the wings.
ScouseFox Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Id imagine it'll be wilshere Hendo Ox Rooney Sterling Sturridge unfortunately
HEGGSY Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 The fact that Wales have 2 more genuinely world class players than us
Grandad. Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 The fact that Wales have 2 more genuinely world class players than us Well let's say one and not get carried away saying Aaron Ramsey is a world class player, he is a very good footballer, one of the best in the Premier League currently but he isn't world class. Unless you were talking about Joe Allen.
howlinmadmurfdoc Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Well let's say one and not get carried away saying Aaron Ramsey is a world class player, he is a very good footballer, one of the best in the Premier League currently but he isn't world class. Unless you were talking about Joe Allen. I think he meant Andy King.
Grandad. Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 I think he meant Andy King. Ah fair enough, certainly on Sunday if you had to say who was the main Welsh midfielder out of the two it would certainly have been Andy King, bossed Ramsey.
Carl the Llama Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Well let's say one and not get carried away saying Aaron Ramsey is a world class player, he is a very good footballer, one of the best in the Premier League currently but he isn't world class. Unless you were talking about Joe Allen. I fail to see how arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League is not a World Class footballer. I wonder if you'd say the same about Bale if Madrid hadn't bought him.
Grandad. Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 I fail to see how arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League is not a World Class footballer. I wonder if you'd say the same about Bale if Madrid hadn't bought him. One of the best is what I said.. Do I think Ramsey is better than Toure or Fabregas? No. Do I class Fabregas as a world class footballer? No.
Carl the Llama Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 One of the best is what I said.. Do I think Ramsey is better than Toure or Fabregas? No. Do I class Fabregas as a world class footballer? No. I can't agree with that. He's a different style of midfielder to Toure but imo equally effective at what he does when not injured,if not more so: Last year he managed as many assists as Toure in 12 fewer matches(though Yaya bossed the scoring stats - 20 in 35 = 57% goal to game ratio vs 10 in 23 = 43%). The fact that Wenger decided not to bring in Cesc because of him also tells you at least one other person believes Ramsey's at least as capable as Fabregas. If you don't consider Fabregas World Class then you must have about 3 midfielders tops that you do. I was talking about Kingy I don't care! #JusticeForRamsey

I don't class Fabregas as a world class footballer, I don't class many as world class, there are about 5 world class footballers in this world, the rest are fantastic footballers, world class gets branded around too much. Seriously is Aaron Ramsey in the same bracket of footballer as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Andres Iniesta?
Stadt Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 I'd say those players are "special" whereas the Robbens and Modrics of the world are "world class".
Fox92 Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Yaya Toure isn't World Class. Just for the record. He looks bang average when they play in Europe.
Grandad. Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Yaya Toure isn't World Class. Just for the record. He looks bang average when they play in Europe. Again I have never classed Yaya as a world class footballer, just said he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, he is better than Ramsey and that Ramsey isn't world class at all.
Guest MattP Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Fair play to anyone who is going to watch this. Reading that first XI is depressing given the teams I grew up watching. I dread to think what the attendance will be tonight, surely a record low at the new ground?
C-man Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 I always use 'would they get in my World 23' as the metric to determine whether they can be considered world class. Ramsey falls outside of that, easily.
HEGGSY Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Players like Ronaldo and Messi are in a bracket all one there own. As Wookie says, special players. Then there's the elite, world class footballers below them.
Grandad. Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 I always use 'would they get in my World 23' as to determine whether they can be considered world class. Ramsey falls outside of that, easily. Very good logic, I like that mate.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Following the fookin shambles that was England's world cup, for the first time ever I have no interest in the International side. Id much rather City be playing at the weekend than bothering about another friendly. Too many excuses. Too much Roy. I think I might be more interested if we were playing the likes of Nathan Dyer in the team rather than Oxlade. Genuinely not bothered this time. Bring on Stoke.
Fox92 Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Again I have never classed Yaya as a world class footballer, just said he is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, he is better than Ramsey and that Ramsey isn't world class at all. I know, I wasn't really adding anything to your debate I was just pointing out my opinion because I saw his name
