Fox92 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Mark Noble for england hahahaha I've always liked Noble. I've always thought he's one of those players that has been unlucky not to get a call up. He's played for England at every other level, I think. Looking at this squad now, I'd rather have him over the likes of Delph.
Super_horns Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Rather shows up the lack od quality really in certain positions (most of them!)
Leicesterpool Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 The 'Ginger Pirlo' I can't believe Hodgson referred to Jack Colback as that. Delph had an ok year for Villa but bragging about being Aston Villa's player of the year is hardly a boast? They were terrible last season. Should be nowhere near the England squad. Danny Rose is there purely because Shaw and Gibbs are out injured so I can forgive that. Shame that Barry, Huddlestone and Rodwell have been over looked for Delph and Colback, the fact I think its a shame the first three have been over looked clearly says it all about the state of English football right now. God bless, Roy Hodgson. I admit I'm surprised Huddestone hasn't feature, Rodwell hasn't played enough games. I'm neither saying Delph class or he's rubbish or average. I'm just thinking towards he's probably the best England can find at the moment, is he good enough for England?... well no harm in trying. Delph though was one of the main reasons why Villa have stayed up the last couple of seasons.

Fatty Arbuckle Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 I don't think it really matters who is better out of Delph, Huddleston, Colback, and Rodwell; surely none of them should be even close to being in the England squad. It's a sorry state of affairs when those names are the best we can come up with when thinking of the best midfielders in the country. How are we as a country not producing a better standard of footballer than those names?
Grandad. Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 I think the team for qualifying should be pretty much be based around this: Hart Clyne/Flanagan -- Stones -- Cahill -- Baines/Shaw Sterling -- Wilshire -- Henderson -- The Ox/Walcott Rooney ---- Sturridge
Ashley Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 James & Drinkwater should they impress have nothing to worry about. They have a great chance of a England cap.
ScouseFox Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Slightly harsh considering he was Englands best player in the last 2 x qualifiers before the world cup the fact andros townsend was one of our best players shows how far below rock bottom it has got.
Bryn Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 People laughing at Delph clearly don't bother watching football.
Grandad. Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 People laughing at Delph clearly don't bother watching football. You clearly didn't watch Aston Villa v Newcastle in the most boring 0-0 I have ever seen, where Fabian Delph created 0 and did 0 of note.
Guest MattP Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 ****ing hell. These squads are just getting worse and worse.
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 That's squad is depressing, Delph is not a England international. We need to start again. This is Graham Taylor bad. Nah, I'd say its worse to be honest. Swiss game is massively worrying.
Corky Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I doubt we'd have anyone on here rubbing it in if the Swiss beat us
purpleronnie Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 England's friendly against Norway next week will be watched by the lowest crowd for an international fixture at the new Wembley. After England's early exit in Brazil, a gate of 35,000-40,000 is expected at the game on Wednesday.
Stadt Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I doubt we'd have anyone on here rubbing it in if the Swiss beat usI doubt we'd have a half Swiss person living on Jersey rubbing it in either, that'd be ridiculous.

Grandad. Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I know it's not great mate but there are still some good footballers in that side, some with huge potential, especially Stones. Shaw, Sterling and The Ox.
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Ah, the gap is narrowing. Not really, My Sunday team has more reliable players than the Welsh national side. I see a lot of "injuries" this qualification campaign
Grandad. Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Serious question Finners, I really wouldn't know if it was in the last few games.. But when was the last time Wales played Ramsey, Allen and Bale all in the same side?
The Doctor Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 People laughing at Delph clearly don't bother watching football. Or they know that it's been 5 years and he's still stuck in Andy kings back pocket. That squad is the weakest I've ever seen England - that andros Townsend and Fabian Delph are considered England quality shows how far you've fallen
Finnegan Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 Serious question Finners, I really wouldn't know if it was in the last few games.. But when was the last time Wales played Ramsey, Allen and Bale all in the same side? God knows. Scotland in the world cup qualifiers, both games I think, Bale and Ramsey both played. They both played against Croatia and Serbia too I think. Allen was crocked but he does actually turn up when he's fit. I don't actually question the attitude of those three, it's our English born mid-prem filler that concerns me. And Rambo's glass legs.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 I thought people have wanted the manager for ages to pick on form and not name. Admittedly two games this season isn't much to choose from but we could recall Crouch and Barry if people would prefer that? I'd rather have players like Chambers picked whether in form or not, it'd be good to blood youngsters like him through an easy qualifying group who are more than likely going to be in and around our team for the next 10 years or more You do realise picking on form is a flawed tactic, because it means you end up trying to shoe horn players into a formation - like what happened at the World Cup. What Hodgson should be doing is looking at what he's likely to have available to him over the next 2 years, build a spine of the team out of key players and then pick the rest of the squad to compliment that spine - like a manger would build a successful club side.
