Guest Kopfkino Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Delph Just shows that if Drinkwater has a half decent season, he can get a call up.
kingcarr21 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 That is a shocking england squad. surely the likes of Drinkwater and Vardy must look at that and think i could easily break into that squad
Danno Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 Andros Townsend as well. This really is rock bottom.
Footballwipe Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 So glad I was around to remember the 2001-2006 team. We'll start getting all nostalgic of that era soon. All those epic quarter-final heartaches, all the hope and hype. The closest we'll get to doing well in a tournament will be in my memories, that's for sure.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Andros Townsend as well. This really is rock bottom. Slightly harsh considering he was Englands best player in the last 2 x qualifiers before the world cup

All those epic quarter-final heartaches, all the hope and hype. The closest we'll get to doing well in a tournament will be in my memories, that's for sure. Rubbish. The England '16 team with the Moore, Drinkwater and Vardy spine will destroy all in their path.
RowlattsFox Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Midfield is woeful. Shame Barkley is not fit. Really opportunity for James and Drinkwater when they get fit. Worrying thing is I can't really think of any alternatives... Would Chambers have been called up it he hasn't of moved to Arsenal? Least Johnson and smalling are out and I don't remember seeing them injured?
Danno Posted 28 August 2014 Author Posted 28 August 2014 Slightly harsh considering he was Englands best player in the last 2 x qualifiers before the world cupHe scored an alright goal and that was it. He's bang average shown by the fact he can't even get into the Spurs team.

One Legged Beaver Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Well I for one am delighted with that squad!
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 He scored an alright goal and that was it. He's bang average shown by the fact he can't even get into the Spurs team. Completely disagree. He caused numerous problems at times and was much better than anyhting else we had going forward. Granted his final pass/cross can be wayward but he was thrown in at the deep end and delivered......

chris_lcfc_85 Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 God help us Yes do agree with that but he was the best of a bad bunch at the time
RowlattsFox Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Hart Chambers Cahill Jagielka Baines Chamberlain Henderson Wilshere Sterling Rooney Sturridge This will be the team for the qualifying game I imagine. Also James Ward-prowse is unlucky considering who got called up.
Fatty Arbuckle Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 Looking at that squad really must give some of our players hope that they can get a call up this season. Chambers has been absolutely shocking this season, and has surely only been called up because he plays for Arsenal now. Not saying he's ready yet, but Liam Moore has looked far more impressive so far. I hope Chambers keeps his place in the Arsenal team on Sunday though! Drinkwater is another one who must be thinking he can make it; how Delph and Colback are getting call ups is beyond me. I was all for massive changes after the poor show in the world cup, but this is ridiculous. Quite possibly the worst England squad I've seen in 25 years!
kingfox Posted 28 August 2014 Posted 28 August 2014 People laughing at the Delph selection? Fully deserved in my opinion, Player Of The Year for Villa last season and he was excellent against Newcastle last week. Colback & Rose though are pointless selections, goes to show what we have to resort to because Gerrard & Lampard have retired, while Kieran Gibbs, Luke Shaw & Ross Barkley are injured.
