Webbo Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 On behalf of Man U fan Damien1990; Hi, I'm an admin on Manchester United fan forum RedCafe. We do a feature where we go to opposition forums ahead of games and ask questions (you can see the one we did for QPR here: http://www.redcafe.n...ue-home.396451/). I'm not able to start threads on here, probably because I've just registered, but if you could possibly make a thread with the following questions for me it'd be much appreciated thank you and good luck this season Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match?

Vlad the Fox Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? Yes. Though the team looks unbalanced at the moment (though not as much since recent signings) he will build a strong team. He seems a character as well so could be interesting to listen to. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Great respect for the team and what they've achieved. Hate the plastic fans for whom they're a TV fantasy and nothing more yet they spout so much shit without any knowledge. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? Man U maybe 4th or 5th. Can see us doing well and surprising a few teams and winning the league. But if bad reffing and freak results unsettle us I can see a top half finish, maybe 9th or 10th. Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Not just Ulloa, the team as a great work ethic, are organised and now exactly what is expected of them but don't think that we're just a team of grafters as there is genuine quality in the team such as Drinkwater, James, Moore, Vardy who will have long premier league careers Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yes. Sensible and building where needed adding depth and competition without upsetting the balance of last seasons squad. Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Powell on a permanent deal. From what I've seen and read he seems he could have a great future ahead of him and would fit into the system we play. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? Started like an express train but injury put him out the team for a while and he's struggled to recapture his form since. Though you need to remember he is young however me he needs to work on his game a bit more, close control could be improved. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? Very happy with our owners. They are running the club superbly investing heavily throughout the club and putting everything in place for the management team, (right up from the academy to first team) to do their job. They don't interfere with the playing side and aren't crazy. The top 5 quote was miss represented by the media though they have genuine ambition to progress the club, which will hopefully see off what happens to a lot of clubs in that after a few years they go stale and then eventually decline. I don't think the club has been better run in all my years of following City. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Kasper De latte Moore Morgan Konch Cambiasso Drinkwater Hammond Mahrez/Vardy Ulloa Nugent Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? Easy. We’re going to stuff you 3-1
ADK Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 1. No 2. Don't particularly like or dislike them, they hit the jackpot with Sky coming in when they did. 3. Manchester Utd probably just about get into Europa, would be surprised to see a top 4 finish. Leicester finish 8th-14th. 4. Possibly, Ulloa has already proven a good signing, we aren't a 1-man team though. 5. Yes, although we had to wait longer than we usually do. 6. Don't actually know that many, Welbeck? I think we've got most of the decent ones. 7. He's a good finisher and imo intelligent. He lacks pace, agility and is not as good in the air as you might expect for his height. Basically plays the same position as Ulloa but isn't as good. 8. If we can make the most of our academy's status and expand the fanbase (we're a 1 club city with quite high population) it might be possible (Everton managed a 5th and we could grow to that size imo). Owners have been 10/10. 9. Difficult to say, we usually play a non-rigid 4-4-2(or 4-4-1-1) but used 4-5-1 to good effect in the 2nd half against Stoke. Only Pearson and the coaching team know who is 100% fit so I'd trust whatever team we put our to be our best. It would be fun to see Cambiasso against Di Maria. 10. 1-1. We've drawn our first two home games against Everton and Arsenal and there's no reason we can't get another result.

Yes Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Close behind coventry my most hated club Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season?4th. 16th Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Yes Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yes defo Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Welbeck Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? He is a good squad player for us, but the stats speak for them self last season, Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? Fantastic owners, but I very much doubt we would ever break into the top 5 Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Second half against stoke, kasper in Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match?1.3 .
Stadt Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? Absolutely, one of the best managers of this generation, arguably the best, he'll get it right eventually. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Preferable to Liverpool, the plastics are annoying though. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? I think you might just sneak 4th. Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Our manager and whole squad will be the difference. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Cambiasso Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Pogba, that was a mistake on your part. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? All round play is pretty poor, he's a poacher trapped in a target man's body. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? Delighted, learnt from their infrequent mistakes. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? The side that played Arsenal Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? 1-1 or 1-2
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 Number 6 - Paul Pogba all day every bloody day.
Deucalion Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? I don't know about van Gaal, but considering the time Alex Ferguson was given and what he managed to achieve, I think United need to give someone time to build their own legacy, as Ferguson was always going to be a tough act to follow. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Something which gets my goat about United is fans who have no connection with Manchester thinking that by watching a match on the TV, it somehow makes them a football fan. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? I think United are in a transitional period following Ferguson's retirement and it might take them more than this season for someone else to stamp their authority on the club, so about 8th. I don't think Leicester will be far behind. Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Ulloa has had a great start, and for me that is worrying. He has scored 3 of our 4 goals so far and we cannot afford to be too dependant on one player. I hope someone else starts to score soon too. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? One strength of Nigel Pearson and his team is the research they put into their transfer dealings. They have signed some unknown gems and given a chance to other players who are considered past it or failures. Signings rarely go wrong for Pearson so I'm sure all will play their part this season, so yes, I am happy with our dealings. Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? I don't know enough about Man U's academy to answer this, sorry. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? Chris Wood is a good player but he isn't proven at Premier League level. It has to be remembered he is only in his early 20s though, and may yet do so. The best thing for Wood is a loan deal to keep him fit and playing as I think his first team starts will be limited this season. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? The comments reported in the English press were mistranslated from the Thai press. Our owners, apart from a period of being sucked in by cheque happy Sven, have seemed very level headed and have made some great decisions in regards to the club. Many were concerned about the debts ran up in the Sven period. The owners saw the error of their ways, appointed prudent manager Pearson to ensure we would comply with financial fair play and then converted the debts of the club into equity. They have also developed the training ground, set up a level one academy and purchased the ground so we no longer have to pay a mortgage on it. They have always respected the traditions of the club and their motives for buying the club are for long-term marketing of their brand King Power rather than to make a quick buck. If Carlsburg made owners...they would make the Svivaddhanapprabas. Try saying that after a few pints !! Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Even though we have had some good results with 4-4-2, I personally would feel more assured with 3 in central midfield, therefore: Schmeichel De Laet Moore Morgan Konchesky Drinkwater Cambiasso James Mahrez Vardy Ulloa Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? Like against Arsenal and others, we will spend time under pressure. We are very strong at the back however and fancy us to limit your chances while a goal or two on the break will see the 3 points stay in Leicester. Leicester 2 1 United. You didn't expect me to bet against my team did you?
inckley fox Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 I always end up feeling like a bit of a twat when I answer surveys like these. As if I'm admitting that I think my opinion should be taken seriously. On behalf of Man U fan Damien1990; Hi, I'm an admin on Manchester United fan forum RedCafe. I honestly think he's over-rated, but equally suspect he'll end up having a decent cameo role in your history. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? I immensely respected Ferguson and many of those who played for him but, on the other hand, resented much of their success. This was because (a) like most major forces in football they received a helping hand from the authorities (no penalties against at Old Trafford for, what, a decade?! or maybe it just seemed like that to me...) and (b) I had to endure plenty of schoolmates declaring themselves Man U fans, or Liverpool fans, or Spurs fans, and got fed up of seeing them looking smug on a Monday morning! These days, more than anything, I'm grateful for the positive links between the two clubs. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? You'll be up there, but I'm still unconvinced by the defence and think the star men will struggle to gel. Maybe 3rd? As for Leicester, anything from 8th-20th is possible. But there's been some early promise, and with a little luck we could easily make 14th or 15th. Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? I think those sides will have men who hit 3 in 4 or 5 games at some stage in the season. Unless other players in our side start to find goals, we'll have problems. But there's time for that. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yes, but I'd have liked to have seen another up-and-coming centre back introduced to the squad, and it wouldn't have hurt if he was capable of filling in at left back. And I think the manager is still looking for another 'number nine' striker. Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? There are so many United academy graduates going round that I don't know who is and who isn't one! I always sort of wished we'd nicked Robbie Brady off Hull. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? He hasn't learned to make use of his physique. He's not aggressive enough and doesn't do enough in the air. And, on top of that, he seems to waste his opportunity every time he's thrown into a starting line-up. But he's not far off being a decent player. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? They're decent, it seems. I'd be surprised if we troubled the top five in the next five years but beyond that you never know. Look where Man City were 15 or so years ago! Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Schmeichel; Simpson, Moore, Morgan, Schlupp; Albrighton, Cambiasso, Drinkwater, James, Mahrez; Ulloa. But, in truth, the likes of De Laet, Konchesky and Hammond have done more than enough to deserve their place in the side, while the likes of Schlupp, Simpson, Albrighton, Vardy, James etc. probably haven't. Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? 1-3. I think we'll put up a brave fight but I suspect you're just hitting form. It's not unthinkable that we get something from the game, and it'd be a bit special if we were to win.
Weller in Tights Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? With the money he has been backed with -Yes Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Can't stand them. The 'humour' of their self deprecating songs? BORING, NOT FUNNY. Attractive football? No not since the late 60's. The violence against ordinary supporters back in the 70's - Man Utd fans were notorious for that. (Especially the Cockney Reds) But mainly because they pull support from all over the country from 'Glory Supporters' I have been a teacher in Leicester for 30 years. I have ran school teams all that time, I have banned kids turning up in anything but their school kit, Leicester or England kit. I have recently allowed them to wear non-English team kits, after all kids are kids and they all get Barca/Real Madrid or Brazil kits etc for Christmas. Reason -when I first started running teams I couldn't believe kids turning up in Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal kits ( but mainly Man U). "I've supported them all my life" they would say. "YOURE ONLY 11" would be my reply, "AND YOU ARE FROM LEICESTER YOU GLORY SUPPORTER". Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? Man U - top 4 City - I hope for 10/11th but 17th will do. Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? ULLOA is going to be important, but there are many others who will step up, watch out for Morgan and Moore ( great defenders) and Drinkwater, Mahrez and Vardy to name a few. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yes Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Sorry, you are just a feeder club to us, I don't follow you're youth team, I let the coaching staff do that. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? He is good, just has a few good players ahead of him. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? At the moment the owners seem decent, in it for the long term, respectful of the team's history and ambitious. To crack the top 7 ( I'm sure you could name the 7 I mean) let alone top 4 is a helluva task though. I would be happy to be established as top 10 and winning cups, like O'Neill's days. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? I'll leave that to Pearson, he's doing a good job. Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? Hoping for a win, but would accept a draw. Prediction 1-1
Guest bss9401 Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 Fvuk me a simple "how will your lot do against our lot" will be enough for me!!
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? He could well be but he'll need time for him to let the squad gel. The "right man" is very tough to call as Fergie will probably never be matched. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? A mix of respect and repulse. No one can deny your outstanding silverware collection and years of domination but with it has brought an ugly sense of entitlement in certain fan sections, and a massive gathering of plastic fans. Not the teams fault though. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? Manchester United... Somewhere between 3rd and 5th. Leicester... After seeing us up our game encouragingly even with our early injury problems, I'd say we'll almost certainly be safe but midtable wouldn't surprise me Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? No, we were far better than Burnley and QPR last season without Ulloa and besides Dyer we haven't lost any of our main squad, only added to it. He's looking very promising for us and likely to score a hatful but even without him I think we'd finish above the other 2. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yes. Ulloa has practically paid for himself already, we needed another winger and Albrighton might be really good for us, Upson has experience, and Cambiasso is Cambiasso. Class signing. Hamer looked good against stoke too Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Paul "the party animal" Pogba Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? He had an amazing honeymoon period with us where he just seemed to bang the goals in left right and centre. Fell off the boil following a minor injury or two and never seemed quite as good since. Mind you with Vardy and Nugent being so effective last season and Kevin Phillips being a really great sub it was always going to be tough for him to find his way back into the side. He's proved against Everton he's still got a role to play though and if he plays well when given the chance then he might play a bigger role Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? Love the owners completely. They've helped us out loads but responsibly, they stuck with Pearson through the rough patch, they don't want to mess with our traditions and are happy to stay out of the limelight. Can't see us being a top 5 team anytime soon but under MON we had some good top-half finishes and I'd love to see that happen again Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Hamer (unless Schmeichel is 100% fit) De Laet Moore Morgan Konchesky Drinky Cambiasso James/Hammond Mahrez Vardy Ulloa Although I'd really like to see Vardy start up front partnering Ulloa, we will need as strong a midfield as possible Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? A 2-2 similar to Everton, with Ulloa to open the scoring and Falcao to equalise at the death.

I think so. Probably got the best attacking quartet at his disposal in Europe. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? They have grown on me as I use to hate them 10-15 years a go. I think the recent tough time has sivved out all those shit fans in for the glory that sent most other fans crazy. The real Utd supporters always come across very knowledgeable and amicable. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? Utd 3rd or 4th at the expense of Liverpool. I think Rodgers will be found out this season. Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? He's been a phenomenon. As I dont live in Leicester I get to speak to many fans around the country who are all raving about him. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? I don't think we got all of our targets but Cambiasso will be class and Ulloa’s looks steal of the century. I think Keyv Phillips will have a positive impact on him though... Watch this space. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Same team v stoke with maybe Vardy in for Nugent and possibly cambiasso for king or Hammond. cjslcfc Posted 18 September 2014 Posted 18 September 2014 Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? For me it's hard to tell yet. He initially seemed intent on forcing a system on the players rather than basing his system to get the best out of the players he has. I think he will do a great job, as he has done at many big clubs, but it may take a lot longer than the fans want. It's a bit easier when you can get players like Di Maria and Falcao to help you out! Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Until the start of university three years ago I didn't really care too much about United. I enjoyed watching them sometimes and at others Ferguson, despite his obvious talent as a manager, would piss me off. However, some of my best mates from uni are Utd fans so I have a much better idea of what United fans other than the plastics and tourists are like. Some of them follow United pretty much everywhere as well. So I had fun last year winding them up. Conclusion is that some are great, some are good and some are truly awful. It's interesting to see how some cope now you've not been winning! Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? Without the burden of European football I think you could do what Liverpool did last season, especially with the attacking players at your disposal. I expect you will come 3rd or 4th as I think Chelsea and City are by far the two best sides in the league. Arsenal have been very sluggish and look like they lack that lethal touch you need. Liverpool will struggle to retain Champs League place in my opinion. Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Will they be the difference between us and other promoted sides? No, we were already miles better than QPR and a bit better than Burnley without him. Could they propel us to a decent finish? Yes. The thing is I don't think we will be reliant on them if that's what you are suggesting. Although Nugent is nowhere near as prolific in this league, I think Vardy (who has featured very little so far) and Wood will chip in with goals, as well as midfielders such as Drinkwater and King. It's all about the team effort really though. We just seem to have that guy who can finish more ruthlessly than our current strikers do. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? In my eyes the window was almost ideal. We got the midfield competition we need, whilst adding a class act in Cambiasso. We have added Ulloa to the ranks, who has started off on fire and is a great striker to complement our other options. We got some talented squad players in Lawrence, Powell and Simpson. I would maybe have liked some more defensive cover but Upson is still to come back and Schlupp can cover LB if needs be. I'd be surprised if any Leicester fan was disappointed with the window. Although some were panicking!!! Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Easiest Question. Paul Pogba without a shadow of a doubt. Wonderful talent. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? As someone else eloquently put it, he is a poacher trapped in a target man's body. If he had pace he would really be a very good striker. He isn't too great in the air and doesn't hold the ball up that well. But the boy can finish and strike a ball. We do forget he is still only 22 though. Lots of improvement in him with the experience of the league. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? If everything at the club keeps progressing as it has done then some time in the future we could be up there. I more concerned about making sure we stay in the League and don't let all the hard work slip though. We need to keep Pearson and continue to build the youth setup and senior squad as we have done over recent years. One step at a time please. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? The XI I would like is different to what I think we will end up fielding. I really like Vardy and Drinkwater was our best player last season so, despite their lack of appearances this season, I really want them to play. My Ideal: Schmeichel De Laet Morgan Moore Konchesky Drinkwater James Cambiasso Mahrez Ulloa Vardy For me, that team has everything we need this season. Pace, power, technical ability, a touch of class and a solid base. Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? Got a bad feeling myself. You'll be flying after last match and we have a poor record vs. United from what I can remember. I'll go for 1-2 but really honestly think we can nab a draw if we turn up and put you under pressure.
One Legged Beaver Posted 19 September 2014 Posted 19 September 2014 On behalf of Man U fan Damien1990; Hi, I'm an admin on Manchester United fan forum RedCafe. I wouldn't say he is the right man, but a man who adequately fills the position until a manager like Klopp becomes available. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Not a big fan due to the amount of plastic Manchester United fans that populate Jersey without many having any link to the club. The 'proper' fans seems like a reasonable bunch though. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? I expect United to be back in the top four at the expense of Liverpool, which would no doubt please you lot no end if that came to fruition. As for us, I can see us finishing near 12th-14th with a bit of luck Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? His eye for getting a goal in the big games can only be a good thing, but I'd expect a lot more players to start chipping in with goals against the teams we're realistically competing with. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yes, we've strengthened in areas we needed to and added some much needed experience to a young squad. Plus Cambiasso in a Leicester shirt is just magical. Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Like everyone else has said, Pogba. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? His ability to score goals isn't in question, but he just doesn't really fit our system. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? I don't think it is achievable in the foreseeable future to be honest, but I'd rather have ambitious owners than owners that are just happy to finish mid table every season. Very happy with them as well, they made some mistakes at the beginning of their tenure but seem to have learned from them and are running the club in a sensible manner, but willing to reach into their pockets if needed. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Schmeichel De Laet Morgan Moore Konchesky Drinkwater Hammond Cambiasso Mahrez Ulloa Nugent Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? 2-2
EnglishOxide Posted 19 September 2014 Posted 19 September 2014 Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? For now he seems the right fit. But he is literally flavour of the month. I think his reputation has revitalised United and he alone is the reason Falcao, Di Maria and Blind joined. So its a good move whatever happens from here. I'm sceptical of his tactical ability though. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Good club. Their hardcore/match going fans seem to be knowledgeable on other clubs and leagues which is good to see. Club is generally run the right way. They throw too much money at some transfer targets but at least it is money which had been earnt through on the pitch successes. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? United - 3rd Leicester 9th (but would be chuffed with 17th!) Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Not necessarily. We have Vardy who has yet to hit top form (just came back from injury). Nugent can be clinical and Wood will pitch in with the odd goal like vs Everton. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yep. Upson was an unnecessary signing as is Powell although thankfully on loan. I don't see how either of them are going to get on the pitch seeing as we're are out of the league cup already. Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Does Januzaj count? Speaks for itself. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? Someone else described him perfectly. He is a poacher in a target man's body. He is good and I easily trust him as 3rd/4th choice. But our game last season required quick closing down. This season we will have to rely more on pace on the counter attack, so through very little fault of his own Wood cannot be expecting to start unless he fills in for Ulloa who it seems at this early stage has the better all round game. It just shows the strength of our squad that he isn't starting. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? It can be achieved. Why not? Spurs and Everton have done it in recent years. I trust the owners. They learnt from employing and sacking Sven. It's a test for them to hold their nerve and trust our manager when times get hard this season, like they did in the season before last. They've got to trust Nigel Pearson because the man is class. When he makes mistakes he has the good grace to learn from them for the next season. Aside from that they have wiped our debt, bought our stadium and have upgraded our facilities to first class. Couldn't ask for more. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Kasper De Laet Morgan Moore Konchesky Schluup Drinkwater Hammond Mahrez Ulloa Vardy Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? 3-3 We should offer much more than QPR but Di Maria ****ing scares me. That guy is class. I think we will go 4-4-2 and play our game at home and it will be a good match. Vardy, Schluup and Mahrez could potentially rape your defence if you play 3 at the back. Blackett in particular. We could play 5 across the middle and put Cambiasso in front of the defence to make it a dull and scrappy affair but we will see. I was much more confident a few weeks ago before your big names came in. Realistically ill just be happy if we don't get smashed like QPR.
Callabinho Posted 19 September 2014 Posted 19 September 2014 On behalf of Man U fan Damien1990; Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? Yes, I don't think he is in it for the long run, but I think he will set united up with longevity in mind. Squad is looking strong already, just needs valuable time gain that team spirit needed for success. Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Having spent three years living in Salford, It's hard not to pay attention, got some good friends who'm are united season ticket holders. Can't turn your nose up at what they've achieved, greatest British football club ever. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? United will definitely eclipse last seasons disaster, I predict a 3rd place finish. As for us I think we have enough to stay away from the bottom cluster, so I think a steady mid table for our first time back in 10 years is feasible. Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Definitely, had he come to England sooner he would possibly be at a more prestigious club. His finishing ability is right up their with the best, and his work rate second to none, I admit we need more goals from the team as a whole but, once we've found our feet I'm confident we will do just that. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yes, Nigel's strict transfer policy means next season (if we stay up) we will be able to invest significantly to push for a higher PL finish, maybe fight for a Europa place. Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Will keane, watched him play a bit whilst I was in Salford, really talented lad and with the right kind of management he will turn out to be a top player. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? Woods a young man, still only 21 and it seems he's been around forever, he is a brilliant finisher but needs to work on other areas of his game, I'm glad we've kept hold of him, because in a few years he should turn out to be a very good player. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? You won't find better owners in football, and that's a fact, money isn't an issue for these guys, yet will Nigel and Terry Robinson handling the transfers it won't be wasted. They have upgraded the training ground, pumped money into the academy as well as the first team, and got rid of any money we owe them turning it into equity, for them it's all about Leicester and turning us into a top team, and under Nigel's stewardship I think we can achieve what they want. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Same, as the stoke second half, but bring in Vardy for Nuge. Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? I'm actually going for a sneaky home win, united are definitely on the up, but I think your new players will need one or two hiccups before they're finely tuned again, part of forging a good team.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 19 September 2014 Posted 19 September 2014 I can't wait for morgan to snap Di Maria in half
David Guiza Posted 19 September 2014 Posted 19 September 2014 Q1: After a relatively poor start to the season, do you think van Gaal is the right man for Manchester United? Q2: How do you feel about Manchester United in general? Great club, nobody can deny that. But, owing to the fact they're such a global franchise, they have more morons than your average side who really make it difficult to not hate them. Add Fergie, Ferdinand and Rooney and was/is almost impossible. Q3: How do you expect both Manchester United and Leicester City to do in the league this season? 4/5 United. Top of the bottom half City Q4: You’ve had a good start to the season. Do you believe that Ulloa’s goals will be the difference between you and the other promoted sides? Looks that way thus far. Aside from West Brom, we seem to be the only side with a goalscorer, the likes of Palace, Burnley and QPR are struggling to find the net thus far. Q5: Are you happy with your club’s dealings in the transfer window this summer? Yes - didn't buy for the sake of buying (see QPR) and bought in quality over quantity (see Burnley) Q6: Leicester have an interesting relationship with the Manchester United academy, with quite a few of your squad members having spent time in our youth system. If you could have one more current United academy graduate for free - including both those with us now and those playing elsewhere - who would you take and why? Although he was pretty poor during his spell here - I have liked the look of Lingard elsewhere, so perhaps him. Unless you include Januzaj in that. Q7: Chris Wood. Is he any good? He's one of, if not the, first team strikers for his National team and pops up with some crucial goals now and then, but seems to be out of the starting eleven wherever he goes. What's that about? Doesn't really fit into our system at times. If he's given a run in the team - he will ultimatley get goals, but doesn't have the game that somebody like Vardy or Ulloa has. Q8: You’ve got a very ambitious owner, who says that he wants the club to eventually challenge the top five. Is it something that you think is achievable. and how happy are you with your owners? Not without huge investment and a number of years of stability - so not really. Delighted overall, they keep their noses out of the playing side of things and are always happy to trust Nige and his staff. Q9: Which XI would you like to see your team field against us? Kasper, RDL, Moore, Morgan, Konch, Cambiasso, Drinkwater, Hammond, Mahrez, Schlupp/Nugent, Ulloa. Q10: Finally, your predictions for the match? A tight 1-1 or a comfortable 2-0 for United. We're more than capable of giving United a game, but if they start well it might be tough.
