Collymore Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 I see he's fighting relegation with Bolton this season. He came on as a sub last night (replaced matt mills) and lost 4-0. He was one of the most exciting and talented midfielders I've seen at city and I believe he would add quality to our squad. IMO we still need a midfielder who can drive and dribble forward, Drinky does this sometimes but needs competition. £3m would get him in January? and what a bargain that would be.
Rob1742 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Good player, but not sure he is the right fit for our group of players. Drinkwater is a bit of a strange character in our mix, but Davies is also strange so not sure it would be right. Just shows that the mentality and willingness to join the group is a high priority and can be much better assets than pure talent. Danns, Beckford, Davies and Spearing all look quality on paper, yet they can't produce at Bolton. Why their manager bought three of our bomb squad, one of which (Mills), had major problems with our manager proves Bolton have terminal issues. Spent an evening with a current manager the other week and he couldn't believe we spent a penny on Mills, let alone £5m. Poor player and a wrong un were words he mentioned and what he did at Leicester proves this. Bolton are in trouble, they have a bad bunch, their manager has bought this mess into the club and I can't see them getting out of it.
ScouseFox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 amazed people still can't let this go. he was quite good for a month, in league one, 6 years ago. why on earth would we spend 3m on him when we already have 6 central midfielders as well as Powell and nugent to play in the hole. all of whom are better than davies.

He was also pretty good for Bolton in the premier league. Freedman wouldn't know a good footballer if he saw one, even via the medium of #Spitter.
lgfualol Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 We already have about 30 centre mids. We have powell that can run forward.

We paid no where near £5m - for us to pay that Matt Mills had to wank in Sepp Blatters face whilst lifting the World Cup (and a dwarf)
filbertway Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 It's a shame we didn't get him on a permanent back then as I think he could have developed into a very good footballer at the club, that ridiculous run against Yeovil (I'm sure it was Yeovil) will always stick out. I have no idea at what level he is now, but as people say, we have a lot of good players that play that role so it'd be a waste of a player and money. The king of purchase a terrible FM player would make.
Out Foxed Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 We paid no where near £5m - for us to pay that Matt Mills had to wank in Sepp Blatters face whilst lifting the World Cup (and a dwarf) was around 3 mill, no? and we got a mill back. Still lost a lot on wages.
Fox92 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Obviously a very talented lad but, again, injuries have ruined him a bit hence his lack of appearances at his age. We have many options in that area now though.
