A new BBC digital archive, info taken from the Radio Times from 1923-2009, see what was on TV when you were born (or whenever).

I was born in 1975, TV didn't start until 9.30 am and went on until 11.30pm with the weather forecast. Film 75 with Barry Norman was on my birth date, he interviewed Lauren Bacall.

Quite an interesting site, how times have changed.

Not sure if there were TV's

I bet my mum was relieved that she was giving birth considering the choice.

This one was for children.

17.30

: FOR THE CHILDREN George O'Brien in ' O'Malley of the Mounted '
An adventure film about the North-West Mounted Police

At least I know now I was born on a Monday.

15.00 on the radio: Music For The Housewife. Not very PC back then.

Just looked at the following Saturday. They showed Ice Hockey only the final period but it was still 10 years before MOTD. Would have been B/W.

Cant believe i dont remember this...

The Mermaids Pearls

A second chance to see the film series about Cyrus the Seahorse and his friend Bartholomew the Shrimp
PART 3  - The Search
Last week you saw how Cyrus and Shrimp found the first of the Mermaid's Pearls. This week you see how they swam to the still deeper waters and met the sea cows.

lol

Mind you.... i had no idea how swinging the sixties really were... i wish id seen this.

Deryck Guyler with John Sharp in 'THE PEARL NECKLACE'

The true story

Derek Guyler... if memory serves, was the groundskeeper  in Please Sir

The morning schedules consisted of 'programmes for schools & colleges' during the 70's.  If you faked illness as a kid & had a day off school, it was still largely an educational experience as there was nothing else on TV.

On the day I was born........

Jackanory

Magic Roundabout

Blue Peter (with John Noakes & Shep)

Top of the Pops - introduced by Jimmy Savile

Monty Python's Flying Circus

Magic Roundabout being the pick of that lot

My dad always said that me and my sister's were all born while The Man From Uncle was on. I've just checked and he was right.

Whatever it was I can bet whoever was in it has had his collar felt by Scotland Yard recently.

Do you think that was a euphemism? Was he trying to gently let you know something about your paternity?

TV the day I was born:

- England v Pakistan: live coverage of the 4th Test from Trent Bridge (all afternoon)

- Blue Peter with Christopher Trace & Anita West (who?!)

- Outside broadcast from a Devonshire farm

- Wells Fargo: drama about a Western stagecoach

- A 45-minute Panorama with Richard Dimbleby & Robin Day (properly funded research back then, I expect)

No wonder I popped out a bit early. I must have been disappointed to discover we had no TV.

dont get yourself down. Your the best fvcking Llama i know

But we all know where a Llama stands in today's equine hegemony. I know Ken likes them, but I'd like to give the smug, odd-toed bastards a piece of my mind.
