davieG Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Beware the traffic around the underpass, newarke st and Welford road has just got worse as they've installed an experimental cycle lane on Welford rd from newarke st down to the hospital. Came down there today and the traffic was backed up sll the way to the Highcross on burleys way.
Larry_LCFC Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Someone will have had a promotion out of the cycle lane idea aswell! Muppets. Ps. Captain I am most upset that the site in your signature doesn't exist.
isaidno Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Another brilliant idea by Peter Soulsby. Taking me ages to get to and from work , and why have a cycle lane in the outside lane. It will be dangerous
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Thought this was another Redknapp thread, then.
AdamN Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Wouldn't be half as bad if people were actually using the existing bike lanes. It's hardly Amsterdam, is it?
Guest MattP Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Heard a few people calling Soulsby a **** over this on Monday. 45-50 mins to get from the top of town to Glenfield now between 4-6 in the week.
Bert Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 They're on about changing the golden mile as well to a "shared zone". The bloke is an idiot.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Gonna get me a bike, so when I next come up I can cycle around and give you all a wave.
isaidno Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Gonna get me a bike, so when I next come up I can cycle around and give you all a wave. Bought a new one today . It's actually quicker to cycle to work
davieG Posted 29 October 2014 Author Posted 29 October 2014 As I said the traffic was choked and not a single cyclist in sight. The only people I've seen on the cycle lane on newarke st have been delivery and roadwork vehicles.
isaidno Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 As I said the traffic was choked and not a single cyclist in sight. The only people I've seen on the cycle lane on newarke st have been delivery and roadwork vehicles. The cycle lane on Newark street doesn't actually go anywhere , and the new cycle lane is on the opposite side of the road
Bamba's Babes Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 De Montfort Street to Freemans Meadow - 35mins.All round Tigers and LRI was a joke.
Babylon Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Utterly pointless, what exactly do they hope to achieve? More people riding to work perhaps... because 400 metres of cycle lane will have people flooding to cycle to work won't it.
fuchsntf Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 This guy Traffic, seems a good player, defends the line, holds up well, plays the channels or lanes well, not unkown to try the odd bicycle kick, and revs up when frustrated, gives gas when he sees tempo is asked for, or slows down when needed When did we buy him..??. Definetly doesnt like Red Orange or green, so must be a bluefox We need a new song or chant to welcome him.
Itsthejoeker Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 It's going to be horrendous again this weekend isn't it?
isaidno Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 It's going to be horrendous again this weekend isn't it? Just wait till we play Liverpool on a Tuesday night
adam1 Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 I was on my bike about 12 months ago and I saw Soulsby. I knew that he was going to step off the kerb and into one of the mini bike lanes near Fenwicks. I knew that if he did I wouldn't be able to stop. I prepared myself to make sure he came worse off. The ****ing **** stepped out but then looked and jumped backwards out of the way. Anyway as a cyclist, and as someone who also drives, I can safely say that I am the voice of reason and the recent works are absolute b#ll#cks and do f#ck all. The Newarke Street bike lane to New Walk is a prime example. Ignoring the fact that there is a cycling ban on New Walk, there is already an existing bike lane which links DMU to the Council HQ. This runs down York Road (runs parallel to Newarke Street and the Newarke Street Car Park entrance is on it). This cycle route is two way, and a lane is provided for those bikes going against traffic. This is part of an existing bike route which connects the Council HQ to DMU, and then onto Bede Park (National Cycle Route). It continues past Bede Park and up into the Westcotes Drive Area. I always see cyclists on York Road. I never (ultra rarely) see cyclists using the bike path on Newarke Street.
Larry_LCFC Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Just wait till we play Liverpool on a Tuesday nightGod that will be fun.
jonthefox Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 I bet if someone else posted this, Davie would shift it over to general chat in a flash.
Unabomber Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 I bet if someone else posted this, Davie would shift it over to general chat in a flash. Should go in the interesting news topic imo, or at a push the tinder thread.
davieG Posted 29 October 2014 Author Posted 29 October 2014 I bet if someone else posted this, Davie would shift it over to general chat in a flash. Why would I? ? Am I that a pain in the arse? It's about letting people know they could have trouble getting to the game on time
