Benji Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Nigel, what do you think about Leicester fans' opinions of players? Love it - he does what he wants!
ImBlue Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 tbh he's not even been especially shit compared to anyone else on our team for the past 6 games. he's been better than half of them. he had a bad game against everton and apparently palace but i wasn't there to see it, other than that he has been par for the team, sometimes even above average. not sure why everyone hates him so much, especially when you consider neither mahrez or the diamond offer him any help at all defensively. against everton for example it was pretty much de laet by himself against a combination of naismith, pienaar and baines for 90 minutes. i think we did well not to concede about 15 goals down his side alone in that game. Oh and he has been up against.. Di Maria Baines/pienaar Sanchez Hazard Bolasie Montero
Kitchandro Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 lol this couldn't have happened at a better time. I expect this news to spawn 10 new threads.
Brooksy Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Fcuk it let's give all the shit players long term deals.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 He needs to show a bit of improvement if the club are showing him this much loyalty.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 just making sure any recieved offers have to be high. short contracts mean we get less if we get relegated and the player wants out Not if the contract is riddled with release clauses (which I have no doubt Drinkwater's is because he seems very "career driven"). Players could still sign long term deals but leave for a pittance, it's no guarantee of anything, really.
Benji Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 He needs to show a bit of improvement if the club are showing him this much loyalty. Nar - future secured for four years! Job done.
Matt Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Christ! Can we not dangle a carrot abit? Don't get me wrong De Laet been a great servant but this season so far isn't cutting it, dangle the carrot, promise him it if he performs then give it him.
teblin Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 For good sake you all like a moan. De leat I'd a good player, fast strong decent in the air. He does get caught out now and again but most full backs do. As someone else has said, he has played against some very good players this season. Against Sanchez he was awesome. Had a poor first half against utd but was brilliant 2nd half. Give the guy a break, I think he has more than earned a new deal. Last season we started our great run as soon as he came back from injury.
Matt Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 This place is stupid! If I complain about all the players like everyone else, people might think I'm cool. Believe me I don't do it to be 'cool'. I don't care if people like or more to the point don't like what I say, i'm not going to change my opinion to pacify them.
jimmeh Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 This is embarrassing. But also explains why de laet has continued to be first choice right back. Now he's signed up i expect Simpson to play.
lcfcsnow Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 I could understand the first lot of long term deals but King and De Laet have been out of form for some time, the timing of their new contracts is weird.

lcfcsnow Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 King? I'd say he's been one of our better players this season. Has been in and out the side for a few years now.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Pearson's face when he realised how worked up Matt would be about the new De Laet deal
Dickov22 Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 I think he's had an up and down season. Some good games and some pretty bad ones. The formation we've played recently hasn't helped him. I trust NP fully- if he thinks he's worth a 4 year deal having worked with him for 2 seasons already, then he probably is.
ousefox Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 A lot of unfair criticism on here for me. He hasn't set the prem alight but he's had a decent start and had no winger in front of him recently which is worth remembering. Good news for me.
VLC86 Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Oh and he has been up against.. Di Maria Baines/pienaar Sanchez Hazard Bolasie Montero Welcome to the Premier League.

I suppose you feel the same about Albrighton receiving the same deal after showing nothing for years.
jimmeh Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Pearson has literally lost the plot. Its almost like our signings are intended for the championship next season
Stuliasz Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 De Laet's ratings and rankings for each match so far: 5.57 (14) - Everton (H) 6.19 (11) - Chelsea (A) 7.27 (8) - Arsenal (H) 7.38 (8) - Stoke (A) 7.52 (10) - Man Utd (H) 4.39 (13) - Palace (A) 5.89 (6) - Burnley (H) 5.06 (8) - Newcastle (A) 4.02 (10) - Swansea (A) 5.40 (5) - WBA (H) 4.10 (12) - Southampton (A) Personally, I think full-back is an extremely difficult position to play in the Premier League. The systems at the top level often leave them exposed to the top-quality attacking talent this division has, and there aren't too many full-backs who aren't made to look like fools on a fairly regular basis. Even full-backs at some of the bigger clubs like Chambers and Rafael are regularly skinned. That isn't totally excusing the fact that De Laet probably isn't performing to the standard he's capable of at the moment, particularly in terms of his concentration levels. If he was playing to his limit and it still wasn't good enough then I'd start to worry but like others within the team, I think he's just underperforming a bit.
LCFC FOX Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 It's his first season in the premier league ffs people and he's not the only one on bad form. Why don't you actually try supporting a player instead of slagging him off after a few bad performances. He was one of our best players last season. Great news. No doubt he'll improve.
Dickov22 Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 I suppose you feel the same about Albrighton receiving the same deal after showing nothing for years. I can't judge him yet as I've not seen enough of him. He hadn't managed him before though, so it's comparing apples and pears. My point is, Pearson already knows what De Laet is about and feels he's worthy of a new long term deal.
theessexfox Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Convinced after Swansea away that he's not a Premier League standard fullback, I hope to soon be convinced otherwise.
