Stevosevic Posted 12 November 2014 Author Posted 12 November 2014 We'll have a decent chance of promotion next season with this team we are assembling.
Corky Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 tbh he's not even been especially shit compared to anyone else on our team for the past 6 games. he's been better than half of them. he had a bad game against everton and apparently palace but i wasn't there to see it, other than that he has been par for the team, sometimes even above average. not sure why everyone hates him so much, especially when you consider neither mahrez or the diamond offer him any help at all defensively. against everton for example it was pretty much de laet by himself against a combination of naismith, pienaar and baines for 90 minutes. i think we did well not to concede about 15 goals down his side alone in that game. He's had a tough start no doubt but to write him off completely is wrong. He could adapt, he could improve, he might not but in the eventuality he does we have a stronger bargaining position if clubs want to bid for him. It's just as much about getting a decent fee as keeping a player for a long period of time. If it doesn't work clubs will still see a Championship winner with Premier League experience and that could be attractive to some.
Ian S Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Pathetic - solid championship player but has been exposed this season - i agree he hasn't had the right protection but he has struggled in every game and passing has been woeful What is pathetic, the player or giving him a 4 year contract? Really don't understand this anti De Laet nonsense at the moment. He has not had any reliable support in front of him all season and has been up against quality players, he has got stick since the first game of the season when Pienaar and Baines gave him the run around which was not surprising as firstly they are a class act and secondly because he had Knocky in front of him as support. Sure he has made mistakes but any worse than those by the likes of Kasper vs Burnley which certainly started our slide.
Jacnah Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 just making sure any recieved offers have to be high. short contracts mean we get less if we get relegated and the player wants out exactly right. this is as much about the commercials as anything else
jimmeh Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 If we wanted him to leave and a club bids and we accept. There's no way he would get the same wages. So either we pay up his money or he sits in the reserves and goes out on loan every season like Gallagher
Renart Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Nigel, what do you think about Leicester fans' opinions of players? Love it - he does what he wants! I am so glad about that. I certainly don't want our fans picking the team! Everyone on here is a wannabe football manager (including myself) but you only have to go through the threads to know that there is not actually any consensus. People having an opinion and a debate about players and formation is one thing but supposing that all fans are in agreement and that NP would be right to listen to us is just ridiculous. I see many views on here that I don't agree with and appreciate a difference of opinion but rarely do I find a post that is just plain wrong (and silly). Can you imagine if NP openly said that he was coming on FT and was picking his team by what the fans were saying or giving contracts out by who is flavour of the month among the faithful - most people would definitely say that he had lost the plot then! We might, through 'fan power', have an influence over whether he stays or goes but while he is here I sure hope that he continues to make decisions based on his own knowledge and expertise and that of the people around him. p.s. I am also surprised by this deal and I am not sure about the timing.
lgfualol Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Getting loads of abuse on twitter. Why players even have twitter is a mystery.
suffolk fox Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Four year contract? Blimey, Gallagher mark 2? I am surprised at the length of the contract.
Renart Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Getting loads of abuse on twitter. Stupid tw**s!
lgfualol Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Four year contract? Blimey, Gallagher mark 2? I am surprised at the length of the contract. Most of our under achievers are on 4 year ones
Corky Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Getting loads of abuse on twitter. They are probably the same lot that idolised Sean St Ledger.
Dan Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 He's definitely done nothing recently to earn that but he's always learning I suppose.
suffolk fox Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Most of our under achievers are on 4 year ones No wonder we will have no funds for January?
Benji Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Getting loads of abuse on twitter. It's a shame we've evolved as a human race that can breathe subconsciously.
kingfox Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 De Laet for some reason is obviously one of Pearson's favourites, probably one of a few who hasn't fooked his daughter.
Corky Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 De Laet for some reason is obviously one of Pearson's favourites, probably one of a few who hasn't fooked his daughter. Pearson favourite = Player I don't like
Unabomber Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 at most not getting the real reason behind the contract.
Foxes1 Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 Looks like we are building a team for the Championship.
Bamba's Babes Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 RDL is 25, not 21. How much more do people really think he is going to improve by? I don't think he has the mental capacity to get better and I'm being serious. Very little football intelligence. The point of Danny Simpson was?
Dickov22 Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 RDL is 25, not 21. How much more do people really think he is going to improve by? I don't think he has the mental capacity to get better and I'm being serious. Very little football intelligence. The point of Danny Simpson was? He'll improve by facing the likes of Di Maria, Hazard as opposed to championship players. Age has nothing to do with it. Playing against higher quality players means you have to up your own game and improve. The fact Pearson's given him a long deal suggests he thinks he will.
lgfualol Posted 12 November 2014 Posted 12 November 2014 That Felipe Luis is 29 so if De Laet is like him it would be pretty good. That's if he doesnt go back to his Elf kingdom
