MC Prussian Posted 22 January 2015 Posted 22 January 2015 Get in, Tunisia! It's looking good in Group B. And at least the tournament's got another winner. Three goals in one match - what a rarity. Speedy recovery to Zambia's Mayuka (Southampton), though. That looked nasty.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 22 January 2015 Posted 22 January 2015 Gutted for Zambia, with their chances they really should have walked it. The Cape Verde game was horrific.
lgfualol Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 This is going to be the world cup all over again
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 Nothing unexpected there. Just like at a World Cup, where players are put to the test with the amount of games played in between the regular season. As for the lack of fans, Equatorial Guinea has a population of slightly more than 600'000 ffs. Transportation's a chore, roads are in a bad state (if they're in a state at all), GDP low, etc. Plus, I suppose entrance isn't free. And the two stadiums that hold 10'000 or less spectators are located in the very East of the country, far away from the capital. Sometimes, I wonder what world we live in when Europeans expect things to automatically work the way they're accustomed to all their life. Reminds me of good old colonialism. A little bit of ignorance works miracles, doesn't it? Yeah but he is right it should be every four years.
Manwell Pablo Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 Riyad ain't starting! Mahrez on the bench Not suprising he was dog muck in the first game. Stuck at work so not been able to watch this, looks like I am missing absloutley nothing.
Matt Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 I didn't watch the first match. I've only seen 2 matches, Tunisia last night and this one, both have been poor and speaking to other people who have been watching other games they have said the standard has been pretty poor. A few years ago I didn't think it'd be long until an African nation won a world cup but in recent years I think African football has took a step backwards.

South Africa Algeria was decent entertainment, Algeria did look to have a bit about them literally the minute Mahrez went off. Before that the South Africans were rather entertaining, goals, bit of controversey with the pen and no red card, and Tokelo Ranti's total lack of finish ability added a bit of comic relief. Had a bit of everything. Unfortuantley every other games I've seen which hasn't been a huge amount I must admit have been pretty dire. Not sure how much I will watch when I've got a bit of free time next week we'll see how bored I get. I will watch all of Algeria's games if possible though.
KFS Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 Starting to wonder whether this game is rigged. Absolute shite
One Legged Beaver Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 The dream of Mahrez being back soon is very much alive!
TOMBlcfc Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 Gyan is such a good player. Imagine coming back for your first game in quite a while and after having malaria to then score that sort of goal in the 93rd minute
Dan Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 There's a genuine possibility Mahrez will be back next week. Hope it happens. **** Algeria this time. Absolute non-entity of a competition. African sides are absolutely dire.
Guest Bilo Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 Imagine how awful you'd have to be not to qualify for this. At least Riyad will be back in time for Palace.
dogadug Posted 23 January 2015 Posted 23 January 2015 Only just noticed, how didn't Nigeria quality!?
