ScouseFox Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 are guinea and Mali actually just tossin a coin or what
ScouseFox Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 amazing tomorrow apparently. why do they have to wait a day to draw lots?
Rocket-Ron Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 amazing tomorrow apparently. why do they have to wait a day to draw lots? So we can enjoy this bellow Drawing lots would occur I'd imagine. Though being the African nations you can just imagine the carnage it would cause Images of everyone running around celebrating before realising they aren't through, people running around on the touchline in suits shouting different information, dictators on the pitch explaining why they should go through and accusations of bribery towards whichever nation goes through.
Tom17LCFC Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 why didn't they just play extra time and pens after their game to decide who goes through?
ScouseFox Posted 28 January 2015 Posted 28 January 2015 why didn't they just play extra time and pens after their game to decide who goes through? i imagine it's cos the rule would also have to apply if two teams in different games were completely level, so extra time would be tricky then if they'd both just finished different games in different cities . still not sure why we have to wait 24 hours to decide a winner though.
leicsmac Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Surely getting them both in the same place for a penalty shootout (or perhaps a half hour extra time period first) would be fairer, and might not even take as long?
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Guniea won the drawing of lots. Mali out despite not losing a game, poor bastards. Ridiculous that this is the way to pick who goes through. Just have a game of next goal wins.
kingcarr21 Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Should have been decided with a game of Venom
Nick Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31047060 Hmm - bit of a farce.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Ridiculous. Can you imagine if something like that happened in a world cup.
StanSP Posted 29 January 2015 Author Posted 29 January 2015 Ridiculous. Can you imagine if something like that happened in a world cup. I bet Blatter has actually thought of sticking it in at one time or other.
AKCJ Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Can you imagine a World Cup game being drawn by lots. What a farce. Ridiculous. Can you imagine if something like that happened in a world cup. Always read on before you post AKCJ...
purpleronnie Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 C'mon people this has been the only exciting bit of this tournament so far.
Bluefoxtim Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Some people have called for the game to be decided on extra time or penalties, but surely if that were the case, teams may decide to 'play for penalties' and play the game in a knockout style match rather than in the desired league format?
ScouseFox Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 is that not the actual way of doing it at a World Cup, too?
C-man Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Ridiculous. Can you imagine if something like that happened in a world cup. It has. In 1954 and as recently as 1990. Although in 1990 it was to determine placing of two teams that went through rather than eliminating them.
Nalis Posted 29 January 2015 Posted 29 January 2015 Surely getting them both in the same place for a penalty shootout (or perhaps a half hour extra time period first) would be fairer, and might not even take as long? Said the exact same thing to my mate yesterday, even have it where the next round will be played to reduce unnecessary travelling for the winner.
Rincewind Posted 31 January 2015 Posted 31 January 2015 Fun and games. Soft last minutes and the ref losing control.
MC Prussian Posted 31 January 2015 Posted 31 January 2015 This match must be rigged. 90th minute equalizer in controversial fashion, referee gives most decisions in favour of Equatorial Guinea, minnows in comparison to Tunisia. And then that free-kick. Tunisia's goalkeeper with a laughable attempt at diving in the right corner.
AKCJ Posted 31 January 2015 Posted 31 January 2015 Dont want this match to end. Apparently the ref did.
