  1. 1. How Has Ian Stringer handled the last few weeks?

    • He's just doing his Job. He's got to ask difficult Questions. Carry on Ian
    • Been a bit overboard, but means well. He's harmless.
    • Quite frankly embarrassing. Out of his depth. Handled it badly.

I'm sure that Radio Leicester bosses will do everything they can to try and mend the fractured relationship the station has with the club because it's not a healthy situation for them if the players and now the club management refuse to speak to them

Wasnt todays mini forum held at the KP?
Doesnt sound like the owners have banned RL then?

How did his post match interview with NP go? I boycotted it on purpose

Cos of some silly rugby match Stringer didnt have to interview him cos they went live to that game

The owners have not banned them from the ground. It's an issue between RL and manager/players.

There is more to it than his interview technique why RL have not received any comment from the management or players.

I am not sure where this is going to go, but based on what has gone on, I doubt RL will be back involved for quite some time.

It did appear tonight on the phone in that they put together an audience of several anti Pearson personel, which suited the radio station down to the ground.

If the club refuse to talk to Stringer, it would be good news for the radio station if Pearson was to be sacked. Tonight it appeared they created a forum to try and help him along his way.

To back up my argument of them creating a forum for their own needs, it was quite clear that the people that have a positive view of Pearson (Elliott, Piper and Tannner) didn't get much air time.

In addition there was no mention of the station being ignored by the club. It wasn't even mentioned and you can only assume that all the guests were told they must not bring the issue up.

Typical BBC, shows in a small way how they avoid reporting on what is not good for them. Saville springs to mind.

So would you have rather they put together an audience of only fans that wanted Pearson  to stay?

That wouldn`t have been a true representation of the mood of the fan base though would it.

At the end of the show, they had a show of hands, which they said showed that two thirds of the audience were in favour of Pearson staying, which i think is probably a fair representation of the mood of fans in general.

The moment that any football club or it`s staff and players stop talking to it`s fans through the local press, is the day they they show scant regard for their fans in my opinion.

Pearson, the players and anyone else for that matter, may not like Stringer, or the way he puts his questions, but he is certainly entitled to ask them.

In fact, to not ask what are obvious questions at the moment, would mean that Stringer is not doing his job.

My main gripe with Stringer in recent weeks, is that when he asks a difficult question, he has been saying," some of the fans have been ringing in and saying", and, "you understand this is my job Nigel, so i have to ask these questions", instead of just being straight up and asking him, without trying to justify himself for asking the questions.

The fact that Pearson has refused to talk to radio Leicester in the past, when he didn`t like something they done or asked him, has probably not helped in that respect.

They speak to the Mercury and East Mids TV plus all the other usual places - Sky, MOTD, national written press etc - so there's not exactly a shortage of access to what the manager/players say.

Pearson's refusing to speak to Stringer too?  Is that official or informed speculation?

I'm led to believe that NP (and Shaky) - as well as the players - didn't speak to RL pre/post match on Sunday

Yes, I've interviewed NP on many occasions.

Doesnt help the international fans very much.

Stringer should grow up and do his job properly and fully

Pearson should grow up and do his job properly and fully

The players should grow up and do their job properly and fully

I agree there but to be honest RL has been pising me off so much recently I can manage without them

Pity LCFC cant give more access to other radio stations like HermitageFM for example

He needs to realize that he is a local radio journalist...and just that.

And Jason Bourne needs to take his head out of his arse aswell.

I voted the middle one. Stringer is just looking for the story but unfortunately has the tact of a drunk bull in a china shop wearing roller skates.

He's clearly a fan and I like his enthusiasm when directed in the right way. Makes it fun listening as an overseas fans, although since we've been promoted I've not listened as much as I can watch all our games on TV here. Even managed to tape the the Liverpool game, avoid the results and watch as live last Thursday. That was fun...

The thing that really frustrates me about Stringer is that he's a fan in the dream position and asks the basic questions. Think how much analysis goes on here and then put into perspective that we all have jobs, lives, families etc outside of this but can still pose (sometimes) tactical, thoughtful questions and debate about tactics etc. Now look at what he asks... Sensationalistic and basic questions. What really annoys me is that he has time to prep, gets to watch every game from the best seat in the ground and has access to ex-pros and analysts on tap. Where are the questions about changing our style, or what tactical differences is NP seeing with the step up and how is he having to adjust to this? Goddammit, just ask why he continues to let Konch and RDL hoof it all the time!!!

Stringer needs to step up with the quality or he may be the one who could be out, not NP. Modern fans expect and love tactical, in depth analysis but what RL serve up at the moment isn't much better than back in the days of Nev and John Sinclair. Actually, I might argue they were more analytical...

Not so sure he IS a fan to be honest he keeps on saying that he is not allowed to support "has to be neutral" because of his position in radio

pure bollox if you ask me he should be a rampant foxes fan and commentate like that = he would be much more popular

it is radio LEICESTER after all - if he was a real fan he wouldnt worry about that - born in Blackpool BTW and stareted in in radio in the south - the cracks in his facade are all but clear to me now - for me can go back to Blackpool

I used to put the cable cchannel on and turn the sound down once I;d got RL in sync but not anymore

What do you think the fractured relationship's down to out of interest?

Fed up with the debate about Ian scapegoat stringer

Then don't click on the thread, read some posts and comment?

He won't say.

But it seems to me it wasn't just the comments about or too NP last Tuesday that has caused this fractured relationship, the word 'gesture' has been used by NP and to me reading between the lines (Perhaps reading too much into it, but it's what it seems like to me) there was another incident that happened last Tuesday night that has caused this fractured relationship.

The opportunity for radio Leicester was bundled in the summer window - they ended up bringing in Elliot after a false start... and failed to strengthen - they just didn't see that Bourne and Stringer would be unable to step up to the premiership.  WE should call up on a BBC spokes person to admit their failing and resolve to serve the fans by getting some proper journos in - and a summariser who is more outrageous.  IF they don't change they are staring relegation in the face!

So just been on the social tab on here and seen this;

Tune in from 6pm - you'll hear the #LCFC visit to Leicester Hospitals as well as Matty James & Jamie Vardy on current form - 104.9fm

Have they done interviews with Stringer or are they another media outlet's interview's the Stringer has asked to use, or are the from press conference or something?

Jane Hill was the BBC manager who sacked young - she needs to intervene and discharge her responsibilities before bbc Leicester becomes a laughing stock ...(I mean becomes more of a laughing stock)

Stringer is an idiot. Lord Sugar worked it out and it didn't take Pearson that long to work it out either. Pearson does not suffer fools gladly and gives them the short shrift they deserve.

Stringer is just looking for a story and is just poking whatever he can with a big stick. I was frankly unimpressed with his comments after the 3rd went in v Liverpool. He appears to want Pearson sacked which is laughable really. I stopped listening to his commentaries due to him being so bad at it. He makes mistake after mistake and never questions his own ability to do his job. I listened to the Sunderland, QPR and Liverpool games and I can point out tens of mistakes in each one. Rather than comment on what is happening he comments on what he thinks is happening. He often gets the bleeding score wrong. I think I'll go back to watching soccer Saturday. Its that bad this weekend I've booked tickets to watch Mansfield v Cheltenham.
