Donut Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 Its like ive said before Why is WINNING the Premier League the only goal you have? Think of how much as a club we could achieve in the Premiership. Just stop, think about it What does "the Premier League is horrible" mean? Im sorry, but this whole thread is utterly absurd.
Donut Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 The Premier League is horrible. Two leagues in one, too much money at the top end. Yep, give me the Championship any day. The fans, the teams, the lot. It's much better. So, the ideal compromise for you is stay in the championship forever, win as many games as possible, never go up, and do that over and over and over?
Donut Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 And why do people come out with this philosophical rubbish all the time too? "Ohhh i hate the money"........"all the money is so sad" "Sky TV have ruined the entire sport" and so on and so on Did we complain when a rich Thai family wanted to invest in us? to get us OUT of the championship? 10 years ago the club was on its arse in administration, we would have given anything for a cash injection. Were bidding £10 million for Mitrovic from Anderlecht. He could literally be one of the best players this club has ever had in its history if he comes to us. Of course its unlikely, but if he wants to join, shall we send him back on moral grounds? shall we say no thanks, we have an ethical responsibility not to pay £10 million, after all Burnley cant do it? Were people outraged that no one would help out little Yeovil in the championship? struggling by on 5,000 crowds and a tiny squad, destined for relegation? You think all the Championship teams are equally matched money wise? So ironic considering if we did get relegated, we would have literally millions more than just about everyone else down there. Better fans is another one. Thats just tosh. Look at the crowds that follow teams like Liverpool, Newcastle, Everton to away games. Proper clubs and proper fans who turn up in huge numbers.
I blame Wellens Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 The most ridiculous thread on the this forum. Which is some achievement.
Soar Fox Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I loved being in the championship between 2004 & 2008. Absolutely brilliant years. Jason Jarrett & Stephen Hughes pulling the strings in midfield, with Mark De Vries and Elvis Hammond banging in the goals.
Dan Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I didn't for one second think I'd enjoy this season more than I did last season and was correct in doing that - but last season was so good because it was out of the blue, it was unexpected, we did so many excellent things against the odds during games (the turnarounds, last minute goals etc...). I don't think it will ever be that good again. We had the Championship at its absolute best last year. As someone who goes to 90%+ of games home & away, this league isn't all that to be in. I do like the fact we can go for players like Mitrovic (though it's in vain if we don't get him) and I do love the potential of beating one of the big boys. I like the bigger crowds (to a degree...). But I don't like the pricing of tickets. Fifty ****ing quid for a game of football? It's an absolute disgrace. It's not something unique to the Premier League as the Championship has some scandal in it too (Leeds were apparently charged the wrong side of £40 for a Tuesday night game at Norwich). I don't like the shit atmosphere at nearly every ground and I don't like the unnecessary hype added to so many things regarding the league. I don't like the fact people delude themselves it's the strongest league in the world and the absolute be all and end all simply because it has the most money in it despite it being proven year in, year out by the odd underdog and plenty of foreign sides that there's far more to the game than just money. I can enjoy being in this league if we make a proper go of it and actually attempt to put our name on some silverware in the mean time like Swansea have. I can enjoy being in this league if our ground is regularly noisy and intimidating (that should be an aim regardless of our league). If our aim every year is to finish around 15th, paying the wrong side of £40 every fortnight to watch us comfortably brushed aside then I'm not going to delude myself that it's a good experience. I don't want to go down, but there's a lot about this league that would soften the blow if we did.
MattGamble92 Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 The first few games of this season were incredible and every goal was celebrated like it was a cup final. Going back to the championship after experiencing this would be devastating. We need to stay in this league and we have to do everything to make sure we do
MC Prussian Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 And why do people come out with this philosophical rubbish all the time too? I'm sorry, but now you're comparing our fate in the Premier League with the club's very own existence. Without some cash injection, we can't even know whether this club would still be around as of today (maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but I guess you can sense my point here). Besides, it's not up to us fans to decide whether it's ethical to spend £10m on one player. The board and Robinson will have to come to a conclusion. The money earnt from one Premier League season alone is earned the sportive way. You can argue the injustice, but in relative terms, isn't it unjust knowing that we're unlikely to be able to compete with the Top Four/Top Six in the Premier League due to their super-rich owners and because of their position within the league, their stability and their annual turnaround at all? Having millions more than any other team in the Championship as part of the parachute money may look unfair on the others.... wait... isn't that what the Premier League and its standout teams have been doing for years, creating a constantly widening gap between the upper two divisions? Some people will tell you even within the Premier League, the gap is widening between top half and bottom half. Yeovil got promoted to the Championship on a sportive basis and you and probably a lot more football fans would equally agree that they were punching way above their weight with their stadium, fan base and budget, anyway.
Rob1742 Posted 12 December 2014 Author Posted 12 December 2014 Did you say this when we had drawn at home to Arsenal or had just beaten Man United 5-3?? Now we're losing games people want us to go back to the championship and start winning again. Obviously we'll have to tell the players not to win to many games as we wouldn't want to go back up again would we. No, but I did say when we were promoted that the likely outcome of the season would mean we have far more bad days than good. Man U and Arsenal and a few others are rarities and will be out masked by the bad results. Maybe I am just passionate about my club. I like to see them win. I know lots of people get excited by the names of Gerrard on a team sheet, I dont, I go to watch Leicester.

The championship is a more evenly matched league than the premier league. Surely you can see that? The same top five year in, year out in the prem. The ones that can create sponsorship from their own companies to create false profits to get around fair play laws. The money has ruined it yes and if you can't see that you are a fool. And we have also been out of order to join the greed of the premier league. Our fine proves this. The premier league is like a theme park. Chelsea now is bad as Man U witha fan base far reaching, rather than the local community. England are crap, because the premier league is full of foreign players, meaning ours do not get a chance to flourish. Football in this country is knackered as more fans watch the big clubs, small clubs go bust and few of the local talent make it through to the bigger clubs. If you think the premier league is great, you have a very narrow window of vision. It has created a different level with its money to all other leagues, making the sport more uncompetitive, with massive knock on effects. Look at how many clubs have gone under? Enjoy the game tomorrow, I wonder who they will field? Exciting to find out eh? Not me, not bothered, just bothered about who we field, my team. Don't forget to buy your half scarf and have a good discussion about how good their team was afterward.
HitchinFox Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I think the OP is speaking with his heart rather than his head. Like when you fancy a girl for ages and finally get to go on a date - only for you to realise she's not that "into you" and just wants to be friends. "Didn't really like her anyway. Would've been high maintenance. And didn't like the way she held her fork." But she's still the one you wank to in the shower.

m4DD0gg Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 How many people would be saying negative things about the premiership if we were flying high in mid-table.
MC Prussian Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 How many people would be saying negative things about the premiership if we were flying high in mid-table. They'd call us unambitious, because we'd be so far off an Europa League spot.
bovril Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 What Hitchin said. "This Fox had a longing for grapes...."
Mike Oxlong Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 Being in the championship is far better. I don't have to suffer idiots around me who know nothing about our team and just want to talk about Man U all game, I don't have to wait so long for the toilets that I almost piss myself whist queuing, I don't have to suffer refs who are starstruck by being on the same pitch as Stevie G and pie face Wayne and I can get out of the car park after the match in under an hour. Roll on August 2015.

Don't forget to buy your half scarf and have a good discussion about how good their team was afterward. Do you want football communism where every team is exactly equal? so theres never the added excitement of beating a bigger team? Or the excitement of a team actually improving? Youre too blinkered to see anything outside of a tiny little box. And you seem to think the only enjoyment is coming off the pitch a winner, no matter who the opposition was. Blaming clubs who are sponsored by owners own companies is a bad thing? HELLO KING POWER We havent joined the "greed" or whatever that means of the Premier League, as we are compliant with FFP. What does joining the greed even mean? will you please explain???? And as for the England team being damaged by the Premier League, jesus christ, i dont know where to begin. There wasnt pots of money swirling around in the 70s and 80s when we couldnt even qualify for major tournaments and the league was mostly English players. God, i think its pretty obvious that unless we produce some good players through adequate coaching to give them the technical and tactical skills to become world class footballers, then we will suffer as a nation. Instead, as usual, youd prefer lagging 15 years behind the rest of the developed football nations and want a league full of Tom Cleverly's and Steven Taylor's. "just give the English lads a chance and the national team will improve"..............Like they would improve the national team. What do you actually want as a fan? It seems to me like its pointless you following Leicester City, because the better we would get, the higher up the football pyramid we would go, the more pissed off with everything that comes with it you would be. The more youd say we were corrupt, the more youd hate "the bright lights", the more youd resent our status, so what do you actually want? Why not ditch professional football all together, and follow a team on a park, where money is no issue, and youre free from all these factors.
Donut Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 OP wants the exact same situation he hates in the Premier League, but for us in a lower league. He wants a team that can playground bully the smaller teams around, blow teams away most weeks, amass huge points totals constantly, be big fishes in small ponds, and do this over and over again rather than move up a level where we would be a smaller team. Ill wave my half scarf again seems like thats the insult of the day, despite following Leicester for over 20 years in 3 divisions.
Harry - LCFC Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 Agree with a lot of the points made. It's a case of Success v Fulfilment. Success is the primary aim but if watching your team stops being a fulfilling experience you have to question if it's really worth it. I'm not indifferent about whether we go down or not, I really want us to stay up this season. But if it ever gets to the point where we're just drifting along in 15th place season upon season making no effort to win something then yes, I would like to see us get relegated.
Soar Fox Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 I can't remember many people enjoying the championship when we had Craig Levein or Rob Kelly I charge.
