cityfanlee23 Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Completely off recent topics, But having watched Paulo' team resilient against Liverpool last night, Where do you think we would be if we had him now?? With a disastrous start at the foxes, seeing him gone at the time was a sweet relief, however since that day I've wondered from time to time if he could have been great for us? This is in no way linked to nigel, and in hindsight Nigel ended up being the right decision with regard to trying to get us promoted. But do you think we would be in the prem with paulo? Personally I think he would have got us there, and he had some fantastic connections to bring in decent players. Did he bring in vitor or am I mistaken on him? Effectively starting the ball rolling for Swansea leading them to their best finish for 30 years (although working wonders in a short period of time from the lower divisions this was by far the biggest challenge) I think if given the real time to build "his team" we could have been up there, clearly we were not a team built for his football style. Thoughts?
cityfanlee23 Posted 10 December 2014 Author Posted 10 December 2014 Champions League /thread Haha, no drugs allowed
Guest MattP Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 I think it's impossible to judge, Sousa hasn't really done anything since leaving us and he's only been in charge at Basle since the summer. He's took over a team that has won five league titles on the trot so it's not a bad job to walk into to.
foxfanazer Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Haha, no drugs allowedI was joking Think Pearson has done what we all wanted
Mark_w Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Effectively starting the ball rolling for Swansea Ever heard of Roberto Martinez?

Thoughts? Swansea fans HATED Sousa, they warned us he was utter shit and he was. As Mark said it was Martinez who started it for Swansea.
LCFC FOX Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 We just didn't have the right players for the way he wanted to play and it didn't work at this level. He'd be better in the prem. he may have signed vitor but let's not forget Lamey, Moreno, Crncic? And 3 million panic buy waghorn
Webbo Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 I used to listen to his interviews on RL and I couldn't understand a word he was saying. I suspect the players couldn't understand his instructions.
kingcarr21 Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Sousa, more like loser AMIRITELADSSSSSSSSS
cityfanlee23 Posted 10 December 2014 Author Posted 10 December 2014 Ever heard of Roberto Martinez? Ever heard of reading the entire quote and not picking something out to make yourself look clever? "leading them to their best finish for 30 years (although working wonders in a short period of time from the lower divisions this was by far the biggest challenge"
Corky Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 We wouldn't have been promoted, his style was too slow and laboured for all the possession, the defence was in pieces and we looked short of confidence. In 9 games we conceded half the amount we had the previous year. His Swansea side scored fewer than we did when we were relegated in 2008. He's gone away and sorted himself out, fair play to him for that, but he was just the wrong fit for us.
5waller5 Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 He took over completely the wrong team for the tactics he played, and didn't have time to change either.
ScouseFox Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 I used to listen to his interviews on RL and I couldn't understand a word he was saying. I did not claim it was not. I claimed the championship was by FAR the biggest step up. He took an average team and improved them.
Renart Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Champions League /thread Haha, no drugs allowed I don't think that is what he meant but I like your answer!
Sir Fynwy Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 Sousa had a dodgy training regime didnt he? Took all of the Swansea players to a lap dancing club instead of training once from what I heard, I'm sure plenty of players would think that was a great training regime.

Stuntman_Mike Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 He tried to change too much too soon and with the wrong players to make it work. I reckon we'd be in and around the play offs at best.
cityfanlee23 Posted 10 December 2014 Author Posted 10 December 2014 I don't think that is what he meant but I like your answer! I did wonder whether he meant champs league thread because of Liverpool/Basel. But it wouldn't be Foxestalk with a sensible answer would it?
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 We would have been back in league one at the end of that season. We where rock bottom, one win in nine games, our goal difference was minus twenty something. With the right caliber of players he could have been successful, but there is no way he could get Jack Hobbs and Michael Morrison bringing the ball out from the back and expecting Steve Howard to be apart of sexy football. Lets not forget his summer signings included Leon Crnčič, Moreno & Michael Lamey
Bettsj2 Posted 10 December 2014 Posted 10 December 2014 The one win against Cardiff still remains one of the best performances from a Leicester side I can remember.
