Corky Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Really pleased with the crowd's reaction to the manager today. The owners will make their own mind up regarding results, performances, squad harmony, PR and all that stuff, but if we can back the manager and team it will put the fans in a positive light. It's easy to bounce around, hail the manager when we are winning, to do the same when losing and struggling is a great sign. Top effort today
Bettsj2 Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Storm in a teacup, but obviously negative. Ah well. That wave of positivity I was feeling will vanish tomorrow then.
cjslcfc Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 It's a catalogue of poor defending. Cambiasso doesn't track Lampard initially or after he's then released the ball. Simpson doesn't mark Lampard having been told by Wasilewski and another. Konchesky doesn't recognise the danger right in front of him and tuck in to cover the space Lampard runs into. It's just poor team defending and could've been avoided in many ways. There seems to be a lack of communication or a lack of reaction to developing situations! Really frustrating
Bettsj2 Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Storm in a teacup, but obviously negative. Someone said in another thread that Nugents dad was kicked out. Is that way off base?
Bert Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Someone said in another thread that Nugents dad was kicked out. Is that way off base? It's quite accurate
Bettsj2 Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 It's quite accurate Drunk scouser kicked out of ground because his son isnt playing? Hardly worth the column inches at all.
cjslcfc Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 http://www.somersetcountygazette.co.uk/sport/national/11665695.Dzeko_and_Kompany_join_injury_list/ Pearson, who was recently involved in an exchange with a disgruntled fan, received some good backing from supporters. He said: "I am not dismissing that, it is positive, but the important thing is the supporters stay behind the players. My philosophy is always to continue working in the way I feel is right. "It is clear people have been frustrated with how things have gone in the last couple of months but I think it is too easy to over-emphasise the negatives. The performance today is something to be encouraged by." Pearson was puzzled by and played down the significance of a picture of a fan apparently being ushered away from him by a steward early in the game. He said: "I think that was David Nugent's dad. People may be trying to exploit potential situations to expand on something that happened last week. Quite frankly, I'm not interested."
Clever Fox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 The Goal we conceded is annoying because it's basic schoolboy defending. With play on the right the centre moves across to cover and the left side move back and tuck in to cover the left back moving to cover the centre. we didn't do it against Villa and we didn't do it today. when the players don't grasp it it's usually best to walk them through it on the training ground.
Larry_LCFC Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 The defending for the Man City goal was an utter shambles. You've got Danny Simpson pointing one way, Wasyl pointing the opposite way and they both bloody missed it. Just shows a complete lack of communication and confusion. Easily preventable goal!

I'm hoping that Matt Upson can bring some much needed organisation to the defence once he's fully fit.
Larry_LCFC Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 I'm hoping that Matt Upson can bring some much needed organisation to the defence once he's fully fit. Just to add to that, Morgan is pointing in a totally different direction as well. They are all too worried about what everyone else is doing and making stupid mistakes themselves. It completely baffles me that our captain, "the leader", is at the heart of that defence and yet he hasn't got any control of it whatsoever. The organisation and discipline should be stemming from him.
PAULCFC Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Watched it back on MOTD and our whole defence is pointing at where the other person should be.....Shambles!Nothing against Lampard though,Didn't give it the big one when he scored (and it was right in front of us in the Kop).Just reminded me of the LC at Stamford Bridge,When he did almost the same thing.
Guest ttfn Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Just watched the highlights again on MOTD..the player that left Lampard was, unfortunately, Esteban.. Watch it back.. Shame, cos otherwise he had a good game. But that's how I've just seen it.
ScouseFox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 fair ****ing play col esteban was comfortably the best player on the pitch today but you still found something to boot him up the arse with ps me and my bloody extremes what am I like hey!
Guest ttfn Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 fair ****ing play col esteban was comfortably the best player on the pitch today but you still found something to boot him up the arse with ps me and my bloody extremes what am I like hey! imo your opinions are more extreme than DanLCFC's and if I get to the end of a Saturday night without reading something from him that he says is a joke or ridiculous I don't feel that I have had a good night but that is just imho. Actually after his outburst the other day Corky is the one to watch imo. He is all calm when we're winning but as soon as we lose one/eleven game(s) he turns into a rabid animal.
ScouseFox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 hey let's not argue cambiasso was superb today so was mahrez but shall we just blame them both for our defeat cos we don't like them? YEHHHHH my opinions are very extreme but right imo lols

Bob Weasel Fox Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 One of the real worries is the form of Burnley! How people underestimated them! That said Col the only teams form that can get us out if this is ours . . .
Larry_LCFC Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Someone needs to take ownership and that should be the captain?? The captain clearly isn't getting it rightAt the end of the day, the captain should be keeping the team organised and focused, even more so in his own department. Wes looks just as disorganized and confused as the rest of them. I'm far from convinced he is a commanding captain.
Dan Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Our defending actually makes me want to stab kittens.
Guest Col city fan Posted 14 December 2014 Posted 14 December 2014 Scouse and Ttfn..if you wish to ignore a situation that is clearly detrimental to our success...this continued inability to track oncoming midfielders, which is happening in almost every game, that's your problem. I gave a balanced view...I said that Cambiasso had a good game. I also said he did not make the run with Lampard. He did not follow him. And (again), it's clear that he knew it when the ball went in. This is a big problem, and an ongoing one.

This is a big problem, and an ongoing one. Let's be honest though, Cambiasso can have the game of his life but if he's at fault for the goal in a game where we lost by one goal, it's irrelevant how well he's played. Collectively it was poor defending which is a common theme, but I'd say it's his man and he doesn't track him. Cambiasso's mistake. I wouldn't bother arguing with folk on here.
