HoustonFox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 I thought Konchesky was superb, the pick of the defenders for me today. Totally agree, defensively. With the ball his was still pretty poor and gave it away way too much. That the dilemma with him and why people think we need to replace him. Probably our best defender but for me his touch and passing (except for one wonderful cross) is suboptimal.
orbison Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 We need a player with good attacking instinct and very good wwork rate to play just in front of the middle two. He needs to be able to score goals, create chances and put in a shift tracking back. His name is David Nugent, by the way. But the question is, who do we play up front alone? Neither Ulloa nor Vardy look like a natural fit. Vardy perhaps slightly more so than Ulloa but to be an effective lone striker at this level requires a bit more ability than Vardy has shown of late, today being a good example, it was a good performance from Vardy, just not quite good enough. we picked up points when nugent started, so i would have to agree with you.
roger the dodger Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Ffs PEARSONS got it right a great all round performance the only thing missing is the final product and people call for his head still FOOKING ridiculous he'll get it right we will start winning and drawing ffs stay away from the panic button we will be fine !! no we won.t playing a bit better means f..k all if you don.t win or at least get a draw and we can.t do either
Saxondale Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Played well today. Good to see Drinkwater back, he was excellent. Simpson, however, is the worst rightback I've seen at Leicester. He's actually dreadful. He makes Peter Canero look like Gary Neville.
kingfox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 I can't fault any of the players for their performances really, though Schlupp needs to do more than he does. How can he do more, when our other players don't get him into the game. When he got the ball today he was willing to turn & run at players, won a few free kicks because of that. For me we don't get him into the game enough, same can be said about Mahrez in other games this season, both of them drift in and out of games too often. Totally agree, defensively. With the ball his was still pretty poor and gave it away way too much. That the dilemma with him and why people think we need to replace him. Probably our best defender but for me his touch and passing (except for one wonderful cross) is suboptimal. Gave it away too much? Thought Simpson passed it worse than Konch today, thought Konch did well with his defending & attacking, he just lacks pace nowadays and sometimes doesn't bust a gut to go on overlapping runs. But I thought he was solid today, defensively at times his reading of the game especially was excellent.
Unabomber Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Don't think anyone is actually calling for Nige to be sacked? Good performance today, I thought Cambiasso, Mahrez and Vardy were the best players. Was Konch and Simpson were also good in defence. Just a shame we wasted those games playing the pathetic diamond, it would be interesting if we could play them again with todays team. Nigel will keep us up I am sure.
Callabinho Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 We were very good today, can't fault the players or manager at all. Lampard's goal was very soft indeed, but other than that we contained them for most of the game, that is the formation we have to play, it gives us more stability and against lesser opposition it would certainly give us more of an attacking threat. Against West Ham we need to do the same, if we do I'm sure we will pick something up, we're not a bad side at all, we just desperately lack premier league experience, just a little bit a knowledge of the league for the lads to feed off.
Thrill Bert Fox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Ok today was better in terms of the formation. The disappointing element was that Nigel cannot seem to settle on the best tatic for his team. Fior me we look much better when we take the game to the opponents and don't try and defend which we know we can't do. We are now in a position where a win next week and all othe results going our way with a massive swing in goal difference would only see us creep of bottom spot. At what point does the manager take responsibility for the teams performance? Do we all blindly continue supporting Nigel until it's too late? I don't know the answer but I know how I feel
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Still fine margins at home this season, hopefully we can bring in a forward player to give us something extra in January.A forward a defender a creative midfielder and a quick winger for me personally and we would be properly competitive then. Up the Foxes!!!
lgfualol Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Played well today. Good to see Drinkwater back, he was excellent. Simpson, however, is the worst rightback I've seen at Leicester. He's actually dreadful. He makes Peter Canero look like Gary Neville. Not an over reaction at all. "Worst rightback I've seen at leicester". He was good
Saxondale Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Not an over reaction at all. "Worst rightback I've seen at leicester". He was good No he wasn't. He did almost nothing defensively, was constantly out of position, offered zero in attack and looked terrified every time he got the ball. Susan Whelan would probably make a better rightback.
Monsell1976 Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Much better performance today IMO. The extra body in midfield made us look so much more solid. The back four looked far better as a result and we limited a world class club side to very very few chances. If we had continued with 4-4-2 I fear we'd have been ripped open. I can't fault any of the players for their performances really, though Schlupp needs to do more than he does. Cambiasso looks best when he's not having to track back defensively. Given support, he can do what he does best. Run the central area. Up top..well Vardy tried as hard as he could, but we didn't really penetrate too much. The side really does need a good goal taker and a provider for him. The only real criticism today was again our attacking set pieces. We do literally nothing with them. Saved me writing col, spot on, the only thing I would add, is that man city never really went for it, but the performance was encouraging, but the lack of quality is a big issue, and hopefully we will get some in, in January.

Are you joking? Seriously is this a joke? well if you're sure I'm bloody sold we r stayin up say we r stayin up I'm sure man. Nige's got this.

Last season I thought Drinkwater contributed well in defense, and I saw it again today. I think it helped our back line to be more solid overall. Also thought King did well enough in pushing on the other end. Good setup in midfield.
HoustonFox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Gave it away too much? Yes, when you kick it out unopposed or let a ball that has clearly hit one of your players go out for a throw in then you are giving it away. Admittedly he passing was better than it has been. As I said, I agree with you he defended well.
SeattleShane Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Pearson has the full support of the players, owners and fans... Talk for yourself
Unabomber Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Talk for yourself All the fans are behind him mate, heard numerous renditions of "one nigel pearson today" even saw a nice banner from the good guys of union fs.
Saxondale Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Are you joking? Seriously is this a joke? No, for the four reasons I've listed. Do I need to list some more?
Bert Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Simpson is a much better defender than De Laet. He played well today. Doesn't offer the pace De Laet has but this means he's not out of position as much. Mahrez was fantastic today, as were the midfield three. Vardy huffed and puffed but just wasn't strong enough. We battled hard and gave everything but constantly made the wrong decisions in the final third and that's what ultimately cost us today.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 The report I have just heard on the radio, said it was a dreadful game, and that Man City just put up the shutters after the first goal, and took it easy. It also stated that "Man City played Leicester, like a cat plays with a mouse." That I find worrying.
Saxondale Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Simpson is a much better defender than De Laet. He played well today. Doesn't offer the pace De Laet has but this means he's not out of position as much. Err, what? He was so far out of position half the time he might as well have been in the concourse getting a coffee.
ARM1968 Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Who was it said zee were better than Burnley in every way? Anyway. Better today. Need points soon or it's good night.
Bert Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Err, what? He was so far out of position half the time he might as well have been in the concourse getting a coffee. Oh right so your take on the game is the only one that counts then is it?
Thrill Bert Fox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 It's a shame that fans seem to blindly support Nigel our form is poor at best at what point is the manager responsible he picks the teams, makes the signings, decides when to sub and plans the tatics, if I had this type of record at work I would have been sacked by now!
