Corky Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Hugely frustrating day, we were far more organised than usual and restricted an excellent side, albeit one without two top strikers, to very few clear chances. Thought the tactics were correct, we weren't overrun and let them have a lot of the ball in front of us. Unfortauntely one time they did get in behind they punished us. Vardy bursts clear and doesn't finish his chance. That's why they are top and we are bottom, fine margins in tight games. The idiots on Radio Leicester after the game mistaking passion for quality shouldn't text in before thinking. That was not a side that didn't care. it gave everything even in a terrible run of form and results. They are playing for the manager. But our final ball is lacking, too many crosses into the keeper, not making anywhere near enough of set pieces (Cambiasso's superb free kick aside) and not getting enough people into the box. It's costing us massively. Not sure whether we were unlucky or not, but I enjoyed the match despite the result and it's clear that the Burnley and West Brom matches were the games that have hit us hardest because if we'd played with that intensity I think we'd have had maximum points.
reynard Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 ulloas deflected shot, ulloas scoop over the bar and knockys free kick were shots in the second half! Apologies meant to say on target. Still not exactly brilliant though is it? We didn't look like scoring the whole match. They on the other hand didn't do much. Didn't need to though. When they did step up the level they scored and knew that was it really.
Robin JD Popley Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Much better performance from the lads today but sadly, one defensive lapse leads to another loss. Positives - Midfield looked more cohesive, Defensively sounder bar that one mistake and Ben Hamer played very well. Negatives - Lacking a clinical finish in the final third and cannot afford to switch off for a second in this league, as today well showed. My honest appraisal is we are 4-5 class players shy of a Premiership team. As others have called it in recent weeks 'the spine'. We need another CB, Full Back, Controlling CM to compliment those we already have (namely Cambiasso, Drinkwater and James) and at least ONE new striker with a proven pedigree. Do that and I think the results will come but I saw out there today 11 lads give it a real go but only three or four I think are of Premier League quality (sadly).
Trav Le Bleu Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 It gets people listening and talking that's why they do it. It gets people turning off, like I did.
Clever Fox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 I thought King was great today especially the first half. Hamer also proved he should have been given a chance sooner. At least he came out into a group of players to punch, Which Kasper never does. Did anyone note the difference between Kaspers performances and Joe Harts today. That's why Kasper will never be a top Premiership goalkeeper.

Guest Col city fan Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Just watched the highlights again on MOTD..the player that left Lampard was, unfortunately, Esteban.. Watch it back.. Shame, cos otherwise he had a good game. But that's how I've just seen it.

Shame, cos otherwise he had a good game. But that's how I've just seen it. No it wasn't, it was Simpson. The defence is pulled out of position, Wes goes across to cover RB, Wasyl comes across to near side CB, and shouts for Simpson to get into his position and pick up Lampard. He doesn't, so Cambiasso starts moving to do so. Esteban doesn't catch up to him, but he shouldn't have had to if Simpson had listened to Wasyl.

The Doctor Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 He let him go earlier, then didn't follow him. He let him go when we were on the attack, play broke down and Lampard broke forward. Simpson has to step back and cover, not blame the midfield for attacking when we had posession.
coolhandfox Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Groundhog Day, another poor goal conceded, no threat from set plays or open play for that matter! Even Micky Adams PL team would beat this lot, NP mention we were better then Burnley in every aspect, shame he being out managed by the ginger twat at the moment.

Bettsj2 Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 To be fair, Lamps has done that to much better defences than ours.
lgfualol Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Interesting story coming out in the papers tomorrow! Why would you say that
Dickov22 Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 To be fair, Lamps has done that to much better defences than ours. That's what I thought when I saw it live. I assumed he'd just done his usual ghosting his way into the box to be in the right place at the right time. Seeing it back though, he's stood unmarked for ****ing ages before having an easy tap in. Pathetic defending again
Bettsj2 Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 Interesting story coming out in the papers tomorrow! You obv wont say what it is but is it good or bad, positive/negative?
The Doctor Posted 13 December 2014 Posted 13 December 2014 To be fair, Lamps has done that to much better defences than ours. True, but there's a difference between ghosting in and nicking goals, and our full-back ignoring everyone pointing to him to pick up Lampard. Wasyl is pointing directly at Lampard, Simpson however tries to take the same position as Wasyl rather than covering the other CB position, and Konch doesn't pick up on that and do what Simpson should have been doing (although he couldn't because Schlupp was asleep). It's just stupid defending and was easily avoidable.
