Busy January?

Looking at the talk sport website,Nigel Pearson has come out and said he has several targets, whether he can sign them or not will be difficult because of our position.

Looks like the Thais are going all out to back him, which may be to late, but even so we need to get behind Nige as he is going nowhere.

He said the same the week we got promoted

And......?

Part of me wants us to throw the kitchen sink at staying up. Part of me would worry about relegation even if we do, and the knock-on effects of FFP in the Championship with a high wage bill and possible payments still owed to other clubs for signings we've already made.

While we are less than 7 points off safety it's not over.even 9 is not insurmountable but changes need to back made and fast.if Pearson is to stay he better use the money wisely but quickly.deals better be getting done now.in and out.

I think the next 3 games are massive in terms of making a statement to potential targets who we want to join us. If we can pinch at least 1 win and put ourselves back in the pack then it'll help our cause in getting better quality in. It's a blood bath in January at the best of times but we are so desperate it's not funny.

I would not only be looking abroad but look at Fulham, Norwich and Wigan and see what Premier League experience players they still have that could do a job for us. Certainly Wigan will be getting twitchy and will need to sell. Yes, they've got relegation to their name in recent seasons but they also have got out of relegation battles before and we need all the help we can get.

Rodagella, Ben Watson, Shaun Maloney, Martin Olsson. All of these could help us.

We also need to tap in to the loan market, Scott Sinclair and some other fringe players could make the difference.

I'd take Olsson and Maloney. Not sure about the others. I think Rodallega's time has passed.

What about Scott Parker from Fulham. I know he's getting on a bit but he's got bags of premiership experience and can just sit in front of the back 4 mopping everything up.

On the basis of us having more pulling power than teams below us (championship) we should go all out.  If the said players improve us for the next 2.5 seasons (rest of this season, if we go down a promotion drive season and if we go up a better chance of staying up season) we will be better off.

May as well utilize the 'prem club' title while we still can.

To be honest though, a good January in terms of results and things could look very different. The statistics are against us - on SS after the Chelsea game last night it said that in 22 years of the prem only 2 teams who were bottom at Christmas managed to stay up - but the teams above us aren't exactly consistent performers and we still have games against them coming up. Making good early decisions in January could make a big difference.

Must say I don't like how negative some people are being. Atmosphere at West Ham was horrible at times; never heard such vitriol directed at our own players. The abuse Konch got after his mistake was ridiculous. Obviously he knows he made a grave error but he was well within ear shot of a lot of the abuse because there was so little space between the front row and the pitch. After that, every time he touched the ball he was met with groans and jeers from everyone behind the goal, and some of the people around me were the most animated they had been all game when telling him to f*** off when he got subbed. Surprised anybody would want to play for us.

It should have been a busy Summer.

Perhaps we can finally bring in the LB, CBx2, CM, LW, ST we needed at the start of the season.  This would bring the team up to 8 respectable Premiership starters, assuming we improve on what we have, carrying no more than 3 championship standard players.

We could get by with this and the number of individual errors would decrease.

Not an ideal time to get business done though and I can't see more than 3 coming in anyway.

Merry Christmas.

Pathetic really isn't it. No idea what anyone's trying to achieve. It's not like he did it on purpose.

I don't mind people slagging off players for blatant lack of effort (Beckford) but not for making mistakes.

Always been over-rated in my opinion. His positioning is actually pretty terrible and people seem to love him because of these last ditch tackles he makes.

Plus his legs have gone, cant even get back to make those last ditch tackles anymore

End of the day its too late we are rock bottom of the prem the only players were going to get a chance of signing are championship players that just want to say they have played in the prem that are not good enough and players from overseas that nobody has ever herd of. We are not going to sign players of any significant quality as there just going to expect us to go down!

The only players we will be capable of getting, are players who don't mind dropping down a division, unless they come in on loan.

The likes of Kramaric & Mitrovic are too unrealistic.
