Danizen Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Huge, huge performance from him today, particularly in the first half. Very reminiscent of last season the way he ran the midfield. He was all over the pitch, making smart passes, making sure he came out with the ball every time he was challenged and he had a huge part to play in our goal. I know we're up shits creek but I will have a lot more faith in our ability to turn it around if he can keep it up! Here's to you....
lgfualol Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Looked like his old self. Him and James are so poor at shooting though.
kingfox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 The good Drinkwater finally returned today, hopefully it can continue.
Katy Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 He was great today, was taking the piss at times. Was like the Drinkwater of old James enhances his game even more when they played together. Gutted we lost.
Fox92 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 When he started to play well, the team started to perform. That's the Drinkwater we all know.
Narborough_fox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Thought King was the better of the two in the first half but the first time we go back to Drinkwater and James in a while, Drinkwater runs the show. No co-incidence there.
cjslcfc Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 The first time this season Drinkwater has shown that he can do it at this level. Fantastic performance from him, absolutely ran the show today.
Clever Fox Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I thought it was his best performance this season. Like others in the team he is learning, improving and adapting to the Premiership.
ZeljkoKalac1 Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 Great performance - The Drinkwater we expected to see in the Premiership.
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 It's sad as I always thought Danny Drinkwater could play at this level and this is literally the first time this season he's looked the part. If he can stick a few more performances in like today even if it's only every other game we've a decent chance of at least making the bid for survival at least interesting.
Sir Fynwy Posted 26 December 2014 Posted 26 December 2014 I think a lot of our young players are a season or two off being capable at this level, if we go down and then go back up with the same squad I think they will be ok but fans aren't going to accept that.

Definitely. We're not the most patient of fans are we.
Katy Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 The Sun gave him a 5,wtf. It's The Sun though, 'Nuff said.
Matt Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Great performance but that shot mar's his game abit. Might not have scored anyway, but get it on target, work the keeper, but wow, talk about mis-hit and wide.
Albert Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 No idea why it's taken 17 and a half games to finally have Drinky and James playing as a pair by themselves in the centre of the park. Last season showed that the partnership works. The chemistry & understanding they have has such an influence on how the whole team plays. Drinky's performances are so much better when he's partnered with James also and we all know when he's on it he makes us tick. Totally baffled why it's taken so long to use the partnership that was our main driving force last season. The 2nd half today proved it
Dickov22 Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Agree with Albert. Why has Pearson not played these two together more.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 He was not great for the first 30 mins, but then nobody was. After that though he came into the game and started to run it, we were all over them for the last 15 mins of the first half and they're the ones who score. My one criticism of him would be that he shys away from challenges and headers, which just gifts possession to the opposition.
jimmer Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Great to have him back playing like he used to.... But let's be honest, he was utter guff earlier in the season and rightfully got dropped.
lgfualol Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 I bet like Drinkwater all our players will finally look like they can play at this level then we get relegated
Clever Fox Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Sometimes player learn more from watching from the stands. thats exactly what's happened in Drinkwaters case. He's come back into the side lifting his head and moving both himself and the Ball quicker. After a few games he's now growing in confidence and starting to play little like last year. The hope is that he'll keep on improving at this level.
