who plays on the left vs liverpool?

If we are going to play someone out of position I'd rather it be Simpson. If you are playing on the wrong side it's inportant your defensively sound.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 433 with nugent playing from the left. Did that quite a lot in his early days

Is Schluup defo going to the ACON? I thought they had only named a provisional 31 man squad and will name a final squad in Jan?

Schluup is not a regular starter so may miss out on the final cut.

Be foolish to change a winning side other than this LB change that has been forced upon us. I'd drop Schlupp to left back (and hope he maintains the high standard he delivered in the last two games) and bring Knockaert in on the right and play Mahrez on the left.

Should bring Albrighton onto the bench as well and try give him a few minutes first team pitch time in prep for Mahrez and Schlupp's departure for the AFCON if it is at all possible.

What are you basing that on?

Having watched him for years.

His crossing is better than any winger we have and can cross with both feet, He's never been a really natural finisher at this level, and with the service he got in the championship he was always going to score goals, I'd go as far to say that he would struggle to get into double figures at a team like blackburn or cardiff, Our style last season suited him and the defenders were below his level. The defenders are too good here and read him easily, If he manages to get the better of them down the centre, there is usually another centre half or rushing keeper to capitalise on his inability or decision making,

As a winger he can attack one defender on the left or right, and also cut in bringing the left or right centreback out of position using his pace.

He's just more effective when he pulls wide.

He's quick, strong, and always drifts out wide anyway.

He's better coming into the box from an angle than straight on.

No matter what service he gets, I wouldn't back his ability at this level thats for sure as a striker, He never looks dangerous in the centre.

Tom Lawrence you would imagine, Albrighton on the right ( hopefully he starts performing been a major dissapointment so far or Knockaert for that matter).

I'm wondering if De laets introduction as a right winger in the last game, was in preparation for Liverpool? Schlupp to left back with Mahrez moving to the left wing? Thats how I saw it anyway...

Id also like to see Lawrence on the bench for another option on the flanks..

I wouldn't say they've had a fair chance, they only ever come on when we are chasing games and the opposition are already dropping back and organising themselves into a more defensive tactic, I think giving them a start would mean they can be more expressive attacking from the earlier stages of the game where the game is more open...

Albrighton is a very good player IMO. Time will tell!

We've obviously recalled Tom Lawrence for a reason, so I'm guessing he'll feature in some way on Thursday.

I think it's more down to a bit of desperation....

I just hope we don't talk him up so much he feels the pressure,

We need to treat him how villa have looked after Grealish.

We will be getting a winger in january. But we need cover for liverpool.

he wasnt recalled...his loan spell ended

I think when they say "recalled" it was more than Rotherham wanted to extend it and we refused.

We loaned him out till January to gain experience to then be available for the run in. Everything was played out as planned...no-body was recalled
