Just back from our second trip to Marrakech this month, this time we took some friends and it was lovely, they were very sceptical but enjoyed it.

Now looking forward to May and 12 days split between Croatia and Slovenia, flying in and out of Zagreb. We have a week down near Pula, followed by 5 days in Slovenia between Zagreb and Ljubljana. Can't wait!

Any suggestions welcome for either area

I got married at Lake Bled, so I have to recommend a day out from Ljubljana there :)

Anyone got any experience of Arlanda Stockholm airport?

I arrive at 10pm in a week or so's time - unsure what terminal Ryanair land at?

There's about four options to get into the city - the easiest Arlanda Express is a fortune. So trying to plan my route. Any help appreciated

How lovely! Yes Lake Bled is on the list, it does look stunning :)

We have to drive through Ljubljana to get to Lake Bled, do you think it's possible to 'do' both in the same day, or is that not likely to give either of them justice?

My wife and I flew to Stockholm just before Covid hit.  We were arriving at Arlanda around 9ish and since we were staying in Hammarby about 40 odd km away, we did not want to fart around with public transport (even though good in Stockholm).  It cost an arm and a leg if I remember rightly (about £70), but it was stress free. That’s probably of little help to you I know. 🤪

Bled isn't the biggest of places really. So if you wasn't planning on doing much while you visit, it could be a half day. But I would say you need at least a day in Ljubljana to not feel rushed.. So maybe a couple of days as part of a road trip.

Flew in with Ryanair. Got on the bus. Very quick transfer and £15-20 rtn fare. I’m sure bus is the best option

Yes went last year. Parts of the city very pretty - the Arena & the Castle (went to a couple of cracking beer spots too) but as Samilktray says it's very much a working city too - Ports are working there. The coastline and towns dotted along it are beautiful but I wouldn't say 'lively'. Public transport is good. Fairly laid back with a lot of people using the area for camper/camping holidays.

Looking to book a long weekend break early May.

Toss up between Porto or Bucharest.

Anybody have any recommendations?

i thank you.

Porto is great. Stunning city, great bars, pretty cheap. Haven’t been to Bucharest but most people I know have said it’s interesting but not up there with the best they’ve visited

The Romanian mountains are very beautiful in early May, though at least about a two hour trip from Bucharest. Porto is definitely a more beautiful city overall.
