Midway through my annual visit to Keswick. Weather has been dreary but not so horrendous as to keep us all in thankfully.

However, still enjoyed it with young kids, always enjoy Portaventura trips. 

 

Doing the same in a couple of weeks, hopefully Portaventura will be quieter in mid September when the kids are back at school

Didn't find the queues too bad at Portaventura, 50 mins max but we didn't bother big rides generally as we have young kids. Managed to get on Dragon Khan a couple of times as single rider though, literally straight on. 

Ferrari land was ridiculous though, only opens 5 and hour plus on the big rides.

We went at the end of August last year and stayed in cambrils which was lovely and went to portaventura a couple of times. Fairly busy but used the single rider queues where possible. 

 

Hopefully in a couple of weeks the park will be quieter. We only did Red Force in Ferrari land, the queue said 180 mins but took us literally 5 mins in the single rider queue

Any recommendations for somewhere still nice in October? Thinking maybe Seville but flights don’t look great.

Cheap flights to Bergamo at the moment for half term from Brum.

Just got back from Seville. Absolutely beautiful city and walkable too. Would thoroughly recommend.

Flew out of Birmingham (Ryanair), flew back to Luton (Wizzair). Cheapest flight options. Train to and form the UK airports.

Ibiza on Monday for 4 days to go to all the clubs. Staying in an all inclusive for the first time in my life, won't be there much but very intrigued as to what it's like. Getting a burger and a whisky whenever I want for no added cost sounds great.

Hoping this isn't the first step to becoming one of those 'we go to Halkidiki/Mallorca/Barbados/Cancun/insert soulless happy clapper resort name here, we just love it omg love it' type person.

Looking at a warmer European  destination  for my Mrs 50th which is 21st Dec for about 5 night.

 

Any recommendations/ i presume the canary islands will still be warm but dont just want to be in a resort when its empty or nothing happening.

 

Was thinking of a warm(Ish) city break?

Just did 4 nights in Kefalonia, stayed in a small hotel in Lourdas, what a lovely island. Locals and workers all really friendly.

 

Wanted a chilled 4 days with plenty of Mythos and it was perfect, also went to Argostoli nearby a couple of times for some turtle watching and more beer and great food.

Won't be roasting in December, but I went there over New Year a couple of years ago and it was a pleasant 22 degrees.

We went late in the year and it was hot. The ground is all light coloured stone and reflects the heat, particularly in the towns.

Their record dec max is 25c

 

by any definition that’s only roasting if you were wearing a parka

Everywhere, food is great in Lisbon, brunch spots are unreal. Fauna and flora do great smoothie bowls 

Pastal de nata from Manteigaria 

good food in time out market but was heaving when we went 

 

As Bifanas do Afonso for bifana is good but quite viral so expect queues. We stayed in air BnB opposite so grabbed one when they first open before queues get huge.. they are decent, wouldn’t queue 45 minutes for on through, mind.
