Grand Palladium White Island in Ibiza looks decent. I was meant to stay there years ago thrn COVID hit. Just priced it up and a week in Oct for 4 is about £3k which is very good.

Wtf happens in Ibiza after closing parties? Isn’t most of the island shut down? £3k seems loads given all the fun will be gone.

You’d be better off putting that money to a table at Hi (two minors) for a night, party, go home

I am going to Milan-Cortina  to watch the Winter Olympics in mid Feb. Hopefully I will watch Vards in Cremona as I have pencilled in the 15th for it.

If anyone knows how to obtain or can offer assistance with Cremonese tickets it would be much appreciated (I am unsure if there is a thread about this) :)

We'll be there same weekend. Quite a few going out there. Tickets will be available via Cremonese website nearer the time.

Fixture day and time will be known end of this week.

Had some decent winter sun in Tenerife, back now though.

Prague in March

Flying to Athens in June and getting a ferry a couple of islands without Airports, there for a month.

Turkey in September, going to get an internal flight to Istanbul.
I’ve also booked a flight to Tenerife in October although not sure about that one yet.

Which islands in Greece you off to mate? I did Naxos last year and took a day trip to Kouffanisia.

Originally considered Naxos and Paros but maybe Andros and Kea as they are nearer to Athens. Missus wants us to go to Tinos as she loved it there, I know it can get really windy though.

Me & two mates going Vienna to see a band in August. Going for 4 nights.  Band is playing Arena Wien Open Air.

ideally we want to stay that side of Vienna which is same side as the airport.
any areas anyone would recommend with bars etc and got transport links ?
don't want to end up staying in some business district. Ha.

Back from Bologna, more fun than the average Italian city because it has an established pub and (good) bar scene. Food very good but not exactly mesmerising. Walking

Headed into Modena, Ferrari museum a bit expensive for what it is, a way to kill an hour. Pleasant change of pace however, architecturally surprisingly different.

Best Italian food is far down south, fresh fruit, veg and fish. Bologna is nice but very... cheesy and porky? I mean they even have a festival for mortadella which let's be honest is crap.

Yeah I’d concur with that. Sadly Italy has just never gripped me like I thought it would. I’ve been to Rome, Florence, La Spezia, Milan, Lecce and now Bologna so it’s not like I haven’t tried it.

Perhaps I ought to go to Naples and Palermo, the wilder south does seem more exciting generally.

I took more of a shine to Valletta than anywhere I’ve been to in Italy oddly. Maybe I’d like Corfu, Italian influence alongside the obvious Hellenic basis, pockmarked with Anglo touches.

I did a "food tour" when i was in Bologna and thought it was largely uninspiring. I did enjoy the city though, felt far less touristy than Florence.

Sicily in places has a similar feel to Malta in its architecture, people, food and even some of its language. Same Arab influence. West coast of Sicily is amazing especially with your own transport. Palermo is fun but a bit spoiled now, amazing historic sights though.

The tram system is great in Vienna, if you can pull in a coffee house then i recommend cafe Landtmann, absolutely amazing place!

Southern Italy cuisine is better, but I would say that I’ve been brainwashed and you don’t argue with Italian women.

Regarding food ,I think don’t set your expectations too high. You hear “the best food in the world “ but,the majority is very basic.Plus tourist areas, will always dumb down.

SE coastline is nice.

I'm sure it's @bovril that said (paraphrasing) you'll get the worst pizza of your life in Italy.

To this end I think Spanish food is incredibly underrated, it's always fantastically fresh and cheap.

No I probably said the opposite 😂 I love Italian pizzerias but they need to be in non descript housing blocks on the outskirts of town, if you go to a posh one in the historic centre it'll probably be underwhelming.

Spanish food is maybe my favourite in Europe because they are happy to experiment more. I do love Italian food but the whole 'omg nonna would never make it like this' is very cringey and boring. They have great produce though especially in the south. Fruit and veg in Sicily is unmatched. And superb cakes and desserts in the north.
