I wouldn't push them towards it but if they decided the believe in what they are given in education though RE or things at school then that would be their choice. I wouldn't really label myself an athiest, but I certainly don't 'get' religion and think it causes alot more hate, agrro, fighting and arguments than it's worth.

Just read SIkh History, all of SIkh's history was during islamic occupation of the indian subcontinent/punjab. A modern stigma from both sides is the partition of british india!!

That is totally different to telling them fairy tales, ramming it down their necks and forcing beliefs upon them. I'm with Matt on this one. Religion does more bad than good. You don't need religion to teach you morals and for you to be a good person. You don't need religion for anything. Religion more often than not gives people a false sense of entitlement. Islam is particularly extreme and outdated religion, and people have got to accept that it is the cause of all this violence. It's not a coincidence that all these terrorists are Muslims. That doesn't mean all Muslim's are terrorists, but it does suggest that Islam is breeding too many extremists.

This is the thing that annoys me most about this debate. Religious ideology is driving these people to vicious crimes. It's not a coincidence that they follow Islam or an agenda from the media, it is what it is. Religious nutjobs who are so committed to their ideology that they will kill and die for it. As much as some people would like it to be true, they're not just using religion as an excuse.
