Fiume Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Wow, I'm surprised you rate him that high. Ćorluka is a decent player, and besides the centre-back position, he is more then competent with playing a right back, and can even play LB too, but he's not the player that he was 5 years ago. He was really good in his first years in Tottenham, and even before that in Man City, but his form and quality are declining for the last two or three years. Although he is our starting centre-back in the national team, he wasn't getting much praise for his recent performances. He ain't bad, but you wont hear anyone say "oh Ćorluka was great last night". He's a sort of a wildcard, making ridiculously good challenges in one moment, and then losing the man he was supposed to mark in the next. Maybe a move to the Premier League would get him going, Everton and Hull were also eyeing a move for him, but the problem is also that his club form is a bit sketchy. I heard he looks really lazy for Lokomotiv Moscow, not to eager to engage in physical contact, and all the good performances you can see from him are those for our national team against countries like Malta, Cyprus, Moldavia. For example he was having trouble in the Bundesliga at Leverkusen where he had a lot less work then he would have in Leicester. After moving to Leverkusen everyone thought, "oh great, this is where he kickstarts, this is where we get our Ćorluka back", but it never really worked. If he ain't too expensive maybe you could give him a go, maybe I see him only as decent because I remember him when he was really good, and am judging him only because of the comparison of his former form and quality and this one now. I mean, no offence, I'm sure he wouldn't be worse then the options you already have, but I also think he wouldn't be the defensive solution you're looking for. You would serve as a test track for him essentially, either he gains his form and tightens up your defense, or he becomes just another centre-back offering nothing new, being just good enough to rotate with Was and Wes. The chances really are 50:50

Unabomber Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 I'm not.. have you not seen his posts before? I thought he'd turned a corner
sylofox Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Someone needs to get on the burnley boards and post this everywhere lol lol
SystonFox Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Geoff works for talksport, says we are after a cb from abroad, talksport release this story, coincidence? I'll let you decide. Illuminati
LCCFox96 Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Corluka is the sort of signing I'd be confident in. 28, over 100 premier league games with City and Spurs and a starting 11 international player. That and according to the Croation poster he can competently cover CB, LB and RB. On paper he sounds a good fit for us.
Spence Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 I'd definitely have him in the squad, the main thing we need is experience at the moment! Whether he starts or not he won't be expensive, get him in Nige!!
Kitchandro Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Like most defenders who don't play for us or England I don't have a clue how good this guy is.
MC Prussian Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Very average. Can't believe people are at all excited about this, not that it will happen. Premiership experience, right age, not too slow, not too expensive. Don't know what you're expecting from a new centre-back - I could absolutely live with Vedran Corluka. He'd be a great addition to the squad.
Troop3r Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Interesting. Wonder what our Rijeka friends think of Corluka - they see and probably know a bit more about him. I think he would be great for you.. He was linked with Premier league teams a few times already..Last i read it was Everton,West Ham, Southampton, Hull.. http://www.goal.com/hr/news/6964/glasine-o-transferima/2014/12/28/7446332/%C4%87orluka-se-vra%C4%87a-u-premier-ligu-%C5%BEele-ga-everton-west-ham-i Today i read he is linked with you also http://sportski.net.hr/nogomet/lige-petice/kramaric-dobiva-pojacanje-tek-je-stigao-a-za-njim-dolazi-drugi-hrvat Very good tehnique, good header, he can cover LB , but those were his worst games.. He was very good on RB and CB.. I would presonally prefer him on CB. I feel pretty confident watching games when he is in defense, cant remember him making any crucial errors.. Was named player of the month in Lokomotiv in december: http://direktno.hr/en/2014/sport/5350/%C4%86orluka-igra%C4%8D-mjeseca-u-Lokomotivu-sve-bli%C5%BEi-povratku-u-Englesku.htm It says his preformences drawed interest in England.. Russians allegedly want 4.8M pounds..
Finn Claw II Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Right age and experience - thought he was decent at spurs obviously not seen him since then.
tripe Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Right back ain't he CB who can play RB. He even played LB for the national squad, but he gave his best performances at CB. A good player, vast experience, only 28. There could be one problem. Corluka loves to enjoy himself. He's got a girlfriend, a Croatian singer (our Becks and Posh Spice ), they are like our celeb couple. Every minute that he isn't playing he is with her. In Croatia, London, Madrid... It doesn't matter. There is a joke going around here that he'll never sign for an English club again as you don't have a winter break. And he loves his winter break. Never the less. You don't have a player of his calibre in you defence. If he is to sign for you, he would be a starting 11 player right away.

If he likes to enjoy himself as you say and loves the limelight, he doesnt sound like a Pearson signing, Pearson likes level headed people who dont get above themselves.
tripe Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The media loves him, but I wouldn't say he is looking for the spotlight, he does try to keep a low profile, but it's hard when you are a NT player dating supposedly the most beautiful in Croatia. Moscow is cool but London, or being close to London is even cooler. And closer to home. You could have a shit, but if 'Arry wants him...

To be fair I have always like Corluka and would love him here so if your right about keeping a low pro then he would be the kind of player our Pearson would like....a humble talent.
Ri1987 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Corluka is good player, have good technique for defender, good positioning. On downside he's a bit slow.In my humble opinion he should be better than your current defenders.
tripe Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I'd say he's living everyman's dream. Plays football, dates the best looking woman, when he's not playing he's traveling. The media do make him look like a playboy, but, he does well what he is payed for. And that's playing football If i was a player, I'd do the same. Or at least try. He is a good player and would make a difference at LCFC.

Which I have no doubts he would (it's been embarrassing watching at times this season!)
Asha Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I wonder how Father Ted feels about the sudden Croatian invasion at Leicester City
