We need a defender and are on the verge of signing our first Croatian, Corluka fits the bill in both the positional problem and as a 'mate' for the forward. If Pearson starts struggling again we'll probably be linked with Slaven Billic also!

Possibly, definitely fits the bill in terms of what we need. As I said, I would love him to sign, just hopefully not a case of somebody grouping together his availability and nationality with our need for a centre back.

Well a quick glance at Wikipedia suggests he can play across the defence, but is primarily a cb who's played RB occasionally. I'm sure he'd be more than capable of filling that LCB role if asked. And with regards to a left back, is it really needed? We have Simpson, as well as was and moore who can both play rb, so RDL could move to lb if needed (he did well there against 'pool), and if the rumours of a winger like lennon are true, schlupp may also get pushed back to the full back position.
