ScouseFox Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 I think he'll go with Schwarzer. Hamer has been good and I like him for crosses. Had a mare against Spurs though. but since then was part of a great rearguard performance in keeping a clean sheet at hull, was only beaten by two very wrongly given penalties at anfield and looked very comfortable for the rest of the game and kept another clean sheet vs newcastle. would be very unfair to drop him atm.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Hamer is there on merit Erm, no he isn't. He's playing because Schmeichel's injured. Whilst I think he's done well, merit has nothing to do with it - injury forced Nige's hand.
Dan Posted 9 January 2015 Posted 9 January 2015 Lest we forget Pearson doesn't rate Hamer, according to the oracle that is Bert. Apparently he only signed him because Chris Powell told him to. In Bert's defence I've heard that one myself from someone fairly reliable before he'd even mentioned it. Would be quite a good guess if so.
sylofox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 No chance! Obviously cover so Smith can go on loan. He is cover if Hamer gets injured.
Richard Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I hope Hamer starts tomorrow, I have no problem with Schwarzer coming in over time because I think Hamer's flaws will begin to show but upto now he hasn't done too much wrong.
act smiley Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I don't see why you'd drop someone who's been playing pretty well lately for someone who's only just joined and hasn't played in quite a while. Maybe give Schwarzer a go in the next game if he's looking good and getting settled in and certainly in the cup, but for this one I'd leave Hamer in.
Dan Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I don't think Hamer's bad but I don't think he's done anything since he's been playing to prove that he's any better than Mark Schwarzer - a quality goalkeeper who has been around for years. He may be 42 but some goalkeepers can play for years. Friedel's another. I do think Hamer will be unlucky if he's dropped, but we cannot afford to be sentimental.
sylofox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Lest we forget Pearson doesn't rate Hamer, according to the oracle that is Bert. Apparently he only signed him because Chris Powell told him to. Who has offered fvck all for a long while. Dried up has been had good info at one time very little for 2 years. Finished in my opinion when he claimed in the summer Vardy would be our number one striker. Vardy has played up to one game and done fvck all effort yes ability no. Said he would struggle but got shot down by little bert. lol
ADK Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I think Hamer has earnt the right to remain in the team but Schwarzer might come in after a loss or mistake by Hamer.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 This Hamer love-fest is getting stranger and stranger. Seriously what is it with you people? Have any of you actually played in goal for an 11 a side team? He's played a handful of games this season and, while he hasn't made any obvious howlers (unless you count the Spurs freekick as a howler which you could well do), he has looked pretty dodgy at times. He takes far too much time with his kicking from pass backs, doesn't have a lot of power in his clearances (some don't even reach the halfway line), and he has been on his heels and out of position on several occasions. The perfectly legitimate goal Newcastle scored in the cup game makes his "clean sheet" there a technical one only, and if you watch that again you'll see the bad technique and lack of decisiveness I am talking about; stands 7 yards away from his goal and just sits down. Another example is the Man City goal from Lampard when they beat us 1-0; yes it was very close range but he gave himself virtually no chance of saving it by just half-heartedly falling to the ground. Not confident goalkeeping and I honestly don't know why so many people seem to think he's amazing. He's an ok goalkeeper and he's made a few reasonably good saves but he's still not better than a 42-year-old Mark Schwarzer.
MIAMI_FOX Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 It would be very unlike Pearson if he dropped Hamer after doing well of late I'd be really surprised if he is not selected tomorrow. Hopefully he will be
Candidcamera Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I think Pearson will not change a winning team and Hamer has looked excellent. So much so that he may expect to keep his place for some time.
Matt Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Erm, no he isn't. He's playing because Schmeichel's injured. Whilst I think he's done well, merit has nothing to do with it - injury forced Nige's hand. Ok what I meant is Hamer has come in, performed and should be there on merit now given how he performed.

Fox Ulike Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Not a chance. Hamer is first choice now and wouldn't get dropped even if Kasper was fit again.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The fact Schwarzer has been given an 18 month deal shows he's considered far more than cover. Still think he might go with Hamer tomorrow; but the Aussie is clearly being more than considered for a first team role. When I saw the length of contract I read into it the kasper will be off in summer, especially if we get relegated, and that Hamer will be no.1 long term and MS no.2. Just my opinion.
Foxhateram Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Apart from the Premier League clean sheet Hamer kept less than 2 weeks ago you mean? Fair point, but as people have already pointed out, he is not exactly the greatest at kicking and his positioning is often out. I just think Schwarzer will immediately correct some of the defensive frailties, he is also good in the air, we have been calling for this from a gk for years.
dayday Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 In the Sun today Nigel says Schwarzer will have to wait for his chance, the right decision.
waylander Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Yep good old Nigel let him live and die by his own decisions !!!!
waylander Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Kasper and Ben both done good we shouldn't be knocking either imo !!!

Leicester_Loyal Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 "No chance"?! Don't be so sure. Don't be so sure...
filbertway Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Aside from a dodgy kick I thought it was a good performance from Hamer again today. Not too much in the way of shots to deal with, but commanded the defence as well as box extremely well. It's so nice having a keeper coming out and claiming balls in the box. Keep it up!
Foxhateram Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 He organised well today tbf to him. That take half way through the second half was awesome too. Well played Ben!
