I had a roast at The Hunting Lodge in Barrow yesterday and thought it was really good. Not a massive fan of roast dinners generally, but that's the best one I've had round here (admittedly I have not been for that many).

They seem to have made a decent name for themselves since re opening.

Looking at the menu it seems to be branching into Blacksmiths territory.

Yep since the takeover the Sunday roasts are the best in the area in my opinion, went to blacksmiths arms a few weeks ago and not impressed at all (had really good meal there previously) al the food was under seasoned and really lacked flavour.

Probably a bit harsh point out restaurant temperature with how cold it is outside but Crafty was cold last night as well.

Food wise I thought it’s gone down hill. Had a Dragon Chicken burger which was meant to have an Asian sauce and slaw. Barely had any sauce and the slaw was little the pre made shop bought bags which I thought was quite poor. It tasted alright but I could have made much better at home.

yea i so like crafty but it is often cold in there especially downstairs.

I went again on Friday, it was pretty cold upstairs. The food was much better though, they definitely had an off day last time I went.

Been to The Mallories a couple of times now and it's class for a Sunday Roast, not sure how it compares to some others as I don't get out much!

Food is good but I hate the decor.

Is that the place in Kirkby Mallory? Always wondered what it was like. Looks like its a B&B too?

i go probably 4-5 times a year and will occasionally get a bad one, they do really well i think always pretty full on Fridays/Saturdays - helps they keep it simple and prices aren't silly v other places. Always double up with loaded fries

Went to the Broadway for a curry on valentines day evening, best curry I've ever had hands down.

I've probably ate at a dozen or so places in the city and for price, flavour, service and ambience nothing gets close to it.

Had the mixed meat sizzler and the chicken + lamb Tawa and both were full of flavour. The lamb fell apart nicely too.

Being from Charnwood it's nicely placed on the outskirt of the city so perfect for a takeaway too.

My new go to place for an Indian takeaway.

Went to Kayal in town on Saturday for the first time and was very impressed!

The duck curry was amazing, but the paratha (particularly after a few beers) was unreal.

Went to Doon Spice at Blue Peter Club last week and had the lamb special which was £100 between 6 of us (you have to pre-order it at least a day before). It was a whole leg of lamb with keema and loads of rice. It was nice and something a bit different. All the food in there was tasty, but some of the portions were maybe a bit small for a group of 6. Would go again though. Luckily I was sat right underneath the TV so couldn't see any of the Leicester West Ham game.

Also went to Nandos at Meridian on Sunday and it's absolute Dawn of the Deano in there lol
