David Hankey Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 With Schmeichel still sidelined, the jury out on Hamer and our longest serving player obviously not up to it should Schwarzer have a run out against Stoke? And should we be offloading Logan?
Langley Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Not upto it? Kept a clean sheet vs Newcastle, Villa and Stoke earlier in the season...
TheMightySystem Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 I dont see why Hamer should be dropped done nothing wrong in my eyes. Pearson already said that Schwarzer will have to wait for his opportunity so i think that sums it up.
Fox92 Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Why is the jury still out on Hamer? He's been brilliant since he stepped in. People keep saying "he's a able replacement for Kasper" but to me, he isn't a replacement he is better than Kasper.
GLC Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 With Schmeichel still sidelined, the jury out on Hamer and our longest serving player obviously not up to it should Schwarzer have a run out against Stoke? And should we be offloading Logan? why would you drop Hamer after another clean sheet?
Larry_LCFC Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 What has Hamer done to get dropped? Schwarzer can wait his turn.
David Hankey Posted 12 January 2015 Author Posted 12 January 2015 You misread my post, Langley, Logan being the one "not up to it".
goose2010 Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 why is the jury still out on Hamer? 3 premier league and one FA cup clean sheets and has looked pretty solid. Would be crazy to drop him after a clean sheet and decent performance. Play Schwarzer in the FA cup the week after and see how he gets on. Logan is injured so we wont be offloading him any time soon.
Langley Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 You misread my post, Langley, Logan being the one "not up to it". Regardless he's got three clean sheets...
David Hankey Posted 12 January 2015 Author Posted 12 January 2015 I haven't said Hamer should be dropped!! But with NP shuffling the pack even after we beat United 5-3 no-one can be guaranteed a place.
Fox 4 Life Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 His kicking is dodgy to say the least but he organises the defence and commands his area far better than Kasper does.
Fox92 Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 I haven't said Hamer should be dropped!! But with NP shuffling the pack even after we beat United 5-3 no-one can be guaranteed a place. But you said "should Schwarzer have a run out against Stoke?" therefore everyone is going to question why when Hamer has done nothing wrong and kept the most clean sheets this season...
David Hankey Posted 12 January 2015 Author Posted 12 January 2015 Read my post again Fox92, I was posing the question: "should Schwarzer be given a run out against Stoke?" I did not say he should be in the starting line-up!!
Kitchandro Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Read my post again Fox92, I was posing the question: "should Schwarzer be given a run out against Stoke?" I did not say he should be in the starting line-up!! So you're asking whether he should be brought on as a sub?
Soar Fox Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Read my post again Fox92, I was posing the question: "should Schwarzer be given a run out against Stoke?" I did not say he should be in the starting line-up!! Why should he be given a run out against Stoke?
EGBFitness Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 This probably one of the most pointless threads posted and probably the worst attempt at back peddling quotes. No Hamer should not be dropped No Schwarzer (however spelt) shouldn't have a run in (full game, cameo appearance- unless there's an injury to Hamer against Stoke- FA Cup tie probably yes) even after keeping a clean sheet or a win, GKs aren't like outfield players that get rotated much. No Logan won't be sold, injured and too much of a legend!
GLC Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 I hate the transfer window, we get loads of pointless threads
DB11 Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Suggesting Schwarzer should be given a run out is directly implying that Hamer should be dropped!! So you can't really say you weren't suggesting Hamer should be dropped.. Unless of course you fancy putting Schwarzer up top? That'd make as much sense as the rest of your post
MattyFromLE Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Sorry but, Hamer has been brilliant. His kicking isn't at Kasper's level, but he's good in the air and from what I've seen, is a good shot stopper. Only real mistake I can recall was that perhaps he should have done better with Tottenham's 2nd goal. Otherwise, he's been very good for someone with little experience of this league.
Ric Flair Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Hamer's kicking is horrible and he's also too punchy but he's been superb for a lot of the time for us. Schwarzer would organise the defence and distribute the ball better but right now we're keeping clean sheets so it'd be quite ridiculous to change things.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 @ people still misreading the OP and flipping their shiz. I will just add that two of Hamer's clean sheets were "technical" clean sheets really in that he did let a goal in during both of those games and wasn't aware of the offside decision until after he'd made a mess of trying to save it. His technique trying to save the ruled-out Newcastle goal was undeniably poor (just sat down and gave himself no chance) and he went to ground and was nowhere near Benteke for Villa's goal that was also ruled offside. Also, I have to say that his kicking against Villa was the worst it has been all season. Didn't make the halfway line on some occasions. Once again I have nowhere what people are seeing in him. He's an average keeper who hasn't done anything out of the ordinary and many parts of his game are noticeably lacking, but reading some of the appraisals on here you'd think we'd do well to keep him from being signed by a top 4 club.
fox766 Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 So hear is a question. When Kasper is fit again and if Hamer is still playing well who does NP choose? As for me I would stick with Hamer if he is still playing well. Kasper is abit flappy when it comes to set pieces. All said both are good keepers and both have different pros and cons and could be a difficult choice for NP.
cc_star Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Why is the jury out on Hamer, he's an order of magnitude better than Schmeichel. 1 mistake that's lead to a goal was Vs Spurs, since then no one has scored passed us from open play, just Gerrard's dodgy penalty gifts The defence looks far more able now they're not constantly under pressure from Schmeichel being routed to his line Go Hamer!
filbertway Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Technical clean sheet! Foxestalk is the gift that keeps on giving.
