theessexfox Posted 29 May 2015 Posted 29 May 2015 But Latham's finally gone now... like the look of him though, nice player. Interestingly poised, been an aggressive day's cricket.
Narborough_fox Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Cook becomes England's leading test run scorer. Still only 30, astounding effort.
Guest ttfn Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Amazing achievement. Really need him to step up in The Ashes.
StanSP Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 well done to Lyth now as well, first century achieved and on home turf, too.
Corky Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Absolutely cruising 90 minutes ago, now the game is in the balance. It's why Tests are so great, one session can change things. Big morning ahead for England.
TheSomersetFox Posted 30 May 2015 Posted 30 May 2015 Am I alone in thinking that Ballance is not exactly confidence inspiring coming in 1 down ! Been very good for us in the last year or so, averaging around 55 i believe? looked a bit lost today though
Voll Blau Posted 31 May 2015 Posted 31 May 2015 Shaping up to be interesting second half. Good day yesterday marred only by the fact I missed Lyth's hundred, owing to the decision to close the bars at 5pm! Went down to queue when he was on 92 and told my mate to text me if he got to 96. The message didn't get through in time. Fvcking joke. Ridiculous amount of coppers in the stands too.
Corky Posted 31 May 2015 Posted 31 May 2015 New Zealand rattling along now, need to be careful they're not too far ahead by tea.
StanSP Posted 31 May 2015 Posted 31 May 2015 McCullum out just before day 3 ends. Reckon NZ need to match their first innings score to give themselves a chance of getting England all out. Then again, it depends how long NZ will bat for tomorrow...
fuchsntf Posted 31 May 2015 Posted 31 May 2015 338-6, decent start wasted. Our bowlers just can't keep NZ penned in. Think they may well push on past 400 and put this game out of reach! It amazes me, everybody pundits, reporters, fans alike, always shout about the oppositions great moments, ignore oppositions weaknesses and collapses, then try and find any type of excuse. If your England, you just have to listen and take the crap, sometimes from ex-teammates. Like citys escape, its not over until the fat lady sings... Remember the 1st test, apparently a game we couldnt win... Wait, be patient watch how our batters, again turn the game around. England in all sports, love to doubt their own.!!!
theessexfox Posted 31 May 2015 Posted 31 May 2015 Superb innings from Watling, Guptil played well too. Definitely NZ's day today, got into a really strong position.
Corky Posted 31 May 2015 Posted 31 May 2015 The way this series has changed almost by the session I wouldn't rule out us chasing down 350+.
RowlattsFox Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 How many times are we going to bowl this shit to tailenders before someone says something?
TheSomersetFox Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 Really warmed to this New Zealand side, brilliant attitude.
Alexikokopops Posted 1 June 2015 Posted 1 June 2015 How many times are we going to bowl this shit to tailenders before someone says something? From Sky: Interesting stat from Sky: since October 2013, England’s bowlers are the best in the world at removing batsmen 1-5, for an average of 36.86 runs (Sri Lanka are next, at 41.18). But when it comes to numbers 6-10, they’re sixth, with an average of 29.62 (South Africa are best with 16.04).
Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 I know they have taken two early wickets, but why on earth and New Zealand bowling a spinner at one end while the ball is hard and new? Seems a bonkers idea with a possibe shortened day as well.
Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 And that's why I was removed as captain for a village side
Voll Blau Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 Not watching but presumably there's some massive footmarks where Boult has been bowling?
Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 Not watching but presumably there's some massive footmarks where Boult has been bowling? Huge, turning away though they shouldn't be that much of a problem except for the left handers and he's gone and got the two right handers out which is even stranger. Both exceptional catches though, close in at short leg, New Zealand fielder has been flawless all the way through the series.
ramboacdc Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 so far invested £40 on this final day thinking easy money! 4 wickets for 15 runs jesus.
Guest MattP Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 I was in Auckland for the drawn test match two years ago, we went in five down at lunch that day and Prior came out at 7 and scored a century to save the match. Hopefully we can show the same resilience today. That was just a humblebrag.
Corky Posted 2 June 2015 Posted 2 June 2015 We need to get through the next session without losing a wicket. Whatever happens I've really enjoyed this series, entertaining, topsy-turvy cricket played in a great sporting spirit. If it's 1-1 I think that's a fair outcome.
